Item type:Item, A Robust Incremental Power Grid Analyzer by Macromodeling Approach and Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(2012) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Lee, Yu-Min ;Cheng, Liang-Chia ;Chang, Yen-Tang交大名義發表As VLSI techniques are getting more and more advanced, the size of the power grid network increases dramatically. Therefore, the power grid analysis becomes a challenging task during the design procedure. This work utilizes the macromodeling technique [1] and enhances the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) based method [2] to develop an effective and robust incremental analysis method for the power grid network, MA-OMPt. Given a power grid network, MA-OMPt not only can deal with the change of its element values but also can handle the modification of its topology. The experimental results show that MA-OMPt can be an order of magnitude faster than the OMP-based method [2] which can only deal with the change of element values of the power grid. The experimental results also demonstrate that MA-OMpt can accurately and efficiently handle the modified topology of the power grid network.Item type:Item, An effective and efficient code generation algorithm for uniform loops on non-orthogonal DSP architecture(2007-03-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Chen, Cheng ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceTo meet ever-increasing demands for higher performance and lower power consumption, many high-end digital signal processors (DSPs) commonly employ non-orthogonal architecture. This architecture typically is characterized by irregular data paths, heterogeneous registers, and multiple memory banks. Moreover, sufficient compiler support is obviously important to harvest its benefits. However, usual compilation techniques do not adapt well to non-orthogonal architectures and the compiler design becomes much more difficult due to the complexity of these architectures. The entire code generation process for non-orthogonal architecture must include several phases. In this paper, we extend our previous study to propose a code generation algorithm Rotation Scheduling with Spill Codes Avoiding (RSSA), which is suitable for various DSPs with similar architectural features. As well as introducing detailed principles and algorithms of RSSA, we select several DSP applications and evaluate it under Motorola DSP56000 architectures. The evaluation results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of RSSA, which can obtain scheduling results with minimum length and fewer spill codes compared to related work. In addition, in order to study the influence of different number of resources on the scheduling result, we also define a hypothetical machine model to represent a scalable non-orthogonal DSP architecture. After evaluating RSSA on various target architectures, we find that adding additional accumulators is the most efficient way to reduce spill codes. Meanwhile, for instruction-level parallelism exploration, numbers of data ALUs and accumulators have to be concurrently increased. Furthermore, based on our analysis, RSSA is not only effective but also quite efficient compared to related studies. Obviously to harvest the benefits provided by this non-orthogonal architecture sufficient compiler support is necessary and important. However, the complexity of such architectures presents a great challenge to compiler design and the usual compilation techniques for general-purpose CPUs do not adapt well to the irregularity of DSP. The entire code generation process must include the following phases: intermediate representation, code compaction, instruction scheduling, memory bank assignment (or variable partition), and register/accumulator assignment. Much related research only considers some phases, which is inadequate. In this paper, we present an effective code generation algorithm named Rotation Scheduling with Spill Codes Predicting (RSSP) to maximally exploit the benefits of non-orthogonal architectures. It contains six parts that cover almost the entire phases of the code generation process. As well as introducing the detailed principles and algorithms of the proposed RSSP, we use an analytic model to evaluate its preliminary performance. Evaluation results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Furthermore, we also present some preliminary ideas to generalize RSSP, which can make it more practicable and suit various DSPs with similar architectural features.Item type:Item, An empirical examination of individual and system characteristics on enhancing e-learning acceptance(2014-01-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsiao, Chan ;Purnomo, Sutrisno Hadi ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityDue to the continued prevalence of e-learning underutilization in Indonesia\'s higher education context, this study empirically examines individual and system characteristics believed to influence students\' acceptance of e-learning systems. The proposed research model is developed to examine the influence of five characteristics of the Technology Acceptance Model using the Structural Equation Modelling technique. This study found that both individual characteristics, computer self-efficacy and internet self-efficacy, play an important role, indirectly affecting perceived intention to use e-learning. The system characteristics including learning content and technology accessibility have been found to significantly influence learners\' acceptance behaviours. Both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were found to be significant predictors of perceived intention to use. Additionally, perceived usefulness was found to have more predictive power than perceived ease of use on behavioural intention to use. This study contributes to a better understanding of how to enhance e-learning acceptance through improvement in individual and system characteristics.Item type:Item, AUDIO-SEPARATING APPARATUS AND OPERATION METHOD THEREOF(2011-02-03) ;Lee, Yi-HsuanChoi, Charles Tak-MingThis present invention discloses an audio-separating apparatus and operation method thereof. The audio-separating apparatus applies both blind source separation and noise reduction mechanisms. The audio-separating apparatus only uses one microphone to record mixed sound signals. After applying the noise reduction mechanism, noise reduced signals and the mixed sound signals are used as the inputs of the blind source separation. The method may avoid the spatial aliasing effect caused by using a microphone array to record the mixed sound signals. Besides, speech segment losses caused by processing the noise reduction will be effectively recovered, which may help the hearing impaired recognize target speech signals.Item type:Item, Channel Interaction in Cochlear Implant Acoustic Models(2016-01-01) ;Choi, Charles T. M. ;Huang, Shang-Yi ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;分子醫學與生物工程研究所電機工程學系Cochlear implants (CI) provide opportunities for people with profound hearing impairment to recover partial hearing. An acoustic CI model based on specific stimulating strategy can be used to study sounds processed in CI, and allows test subjects with normal hearing to evaluate stimulating strategy performance. However, there is still a significant performance difference between hearing test results based on acoustic CI models and from CI users. In this study we propose to use a SPREAD matrix, which incorporates channel interaction, created by the activating function profile based on finite element models of CI to improve the acoustic CI model. According to test results, acoustic CI models with SPREAD matrix based on finite element models significantly improves its match with clinical CI data and can be used to evaluate the performance of CI stimulating strategies and predict the hearing performance of CI users more accurately.Item type:Item, CRAXTriage: A Coverage Based Triage System(2017-01-01) ;Yeh, Chao-Chun ;Lu, Han-Lin ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Chou, Wei-ShengHuang, Shih-KunSoftware is getting complicated due to the changing needs and flourishing development of software industry. To better improve software quality, we have to find the major reasons which cause the program crash. However, debugging by software developer is not an efficient method, especially in large software. Many automated tools are developed to enhance the fault localization efficiency and reduce the maintenance cost. Most researches focus on improving the software testing process, and the primary triage method is based on the stack-trace hash (e.g., smartfuzz, basic fuzzing framework and Failure Observation engine), and is unchanged for a long time. Therefore, we propose a new triage method based on binary block coverage. Our triage method is designed by analyzing the binary level coverage results, on every time the input causes the program crash. For the same crash input, we also use traditional stack-trace hash method to contrast the flaws with our method. Our experiment results reveal that our proposed method based on code coverage exhibits better triages in terms of the number of unique bugs identified and correct classifications of faults.Item type:Item, Explorations of employee-based brand equity in the banking industry from a perceived-leadership perspective(2020-01-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsiao, Chan ;Chan, Hsin-Yi ;Lee, I-Chen管理學院Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to answer the question of how brand-specific transformational leadership (TFL) and transactional leadership (TRL) enhance employee-based brand equity (EBBE) by influencing employees' perceived brand value congruence (EPBVC). Design/methodology/approach - This study employed hierarchical linear modeling and chose moderating variables that are primarily related to the working environment: person-job fit (PJF) and person-group fit (PGF). The sample included managers and employees of the largest domestic bank in Taiwan. Findings - Questionnaires were distributed to banking staff in the service industry. The results imply that both brand-specific TFL and brand-specific TRL require the mediation of PJF and PGF to influence EBBE, which then influences brand equity. Without these mediators, brand-specific TFL and brand-specific TRL have no effects on EBBE. Originality/value - Compared to the results from other studies, these results imply a unique discovery that both brand-specific TFL and brand-specific TRL require the mediation of PJF and PGF to influence EPBVC, which in turn influences EBBE. Without these mediators, brand-specific TFL and brand-specific TRL do not have any effects.Item type:Item, Extracting Speech Signals using Independent Component Analysis(2009) ;Choi, Charles T. M. ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIndependent component analysis (ICA) is the dominant method to resolve blind source separation (BSS) problem. In this article we conducted experiments to evaluate the separation performance of ICA for acoustic signals. Experiments results show that if we can find appropriate placement of microphones, applying ICA to hearing prostheses as pre-processing can help the wearer hear more clear sounds.Item type:Item, From virtual worlds to reality: Moderating and mediating mechanisms between online and offline leadership(2018-01-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsieh, Ying-Che ;Hsiao, Chan ;Lin, Chen-Hsiang交大名義發表Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore whether online leadership affects offline leadership through a mediation mechanism. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on social presence theory, the authors developed a mediation model of online leadership to offline leadership, and examine the moderating effect of interactivity. Data were collected through an internet questionnaire, with gamers in Taiwan's leading forum as research targets. After receiving 912 valid questionnaires, the authors used SPSS 21 and AMOS 21 to conduct data analysis to test the model. Findings The results show that online leadership will affect offline leadership. Moreover, game achievements and character identification have partial mediated effects in this model. Finally, interactivity has a moderating effect in this model. Practical implications These findings provide insights for future leadership training effectiveness, training guidelines, game design, and selection of references. Originality/value This research extends the current state of knowledge about the paths to transfer online leadership experiences to office situations through direct influence, game achievement, and character identification.Item type:Item, Linking positive psychological capital with customer value co-creation(2017-01-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsiao, Chan ;Chen, Yee-Chen ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityPurpose - This study aims to identify the driving forces of customer value co-creation (VCC) that occur through employee positive psychological capital (PPC), employee service-oriented organizational citizenship behavior (SOOCB) and customer brand experience (BE). Design/methodology/approach - In total, 493 valid samples were retrieved from 30 hotels in Taiwan. Hierarchical linear modeling was used to extensively and accurately examine customer VCC from a cross-level perspective. Findings - The results showed that employee PPC was not positively related to customer VCC, that employee PPC affected customer VCC indirectly through the mediating effect of employee SOOCB and that the relationship between employee SOOCB and customer VCC was positively moderated by customer BE. Originality/value - First, this study investigated the customer VCC driving forces through the role of the employee, and thus advances the customer VCC field. Second, it identified employee SOOCB as a key mediating mechanism that links the indirect relationship between employee PPC and customer VCC. Third, it identified customer BE as a key moderating mechanism in the relationship between employee SOOCB and customer VCC. Fourth, regarding methodology, few studies investigate VCC through a cross-level approach. The present study used hierarchical linear modeling to extensively and accurately examine customer VCC and its cross-level relationships, thus providing greater research value compared with single-level analysis. Finally, the result findings suggest that organizational leaders should enhance the PPC of employees in furtherance of encouraging the employees to perform extra-role SOOCB, which makes customer co-creation behavior, and ultimately, contributes to managerial practice.Item type:Item, Motivated or empowering antecedents to drive service innovation?(2017) ;Hsiao, Chan ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsu, Hao-Hsin ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceWhich type of antecedents, motivated or empowering, can stimulate service innovation? We choose the empowering (team and worker empowerment) and motivated variables (creative self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation) as the four antecedents to investigate how they influence service innovation. Positive psychological capital (PPC) was chosen as a key mediator to examine whether the four antecedents have impacts on service innovation through PPC. Hierarchical linear modeling was adopted for analyses. This study provided the following findings: (a) the empowering factors have no positive effects on service innovation. (b) The motivated factors have significantly positive effects on service innovation. (c) PPC completely mediated the relationship between the empowering factors and service innovation and partially mediated the relationship between the motivated factors and service innovation. Our findings suggest that motivated factors have significantly positive influences on service innovation compared with empowering factors. We also confirm PPC as the mediating mechanism to stimulate service innovation.Item type:Item, Motivated or empowering antecedents to drive service innovation?(2017) ;Hsiao, Chan ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsu, Hao-Hsin ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceWhich type of antecedents, motivated or empowering, can stimulate service innovation? The parameter adjustment device comprises a generation unit, a user interface and a process unit. The generation unit generates a test MAP based on a current MAP. The user interface displays the current MAP and the test MAP for choosing one of them as the preferred MAP, and displays a major and a minor for choosing again, the major and the minor is defined as a significant difference and a little difference between the test MAP and the current MAP respectively. The process unit computes the acceptance probability of the preferred MAP based on a major or minor probability correspondence relationship and determines a next MAP by comparing the acceptance probability with the test probability. When one of the termination conditions is satisfied in an iterative operation, the next MAP is outputted as the best MAP.Item type:Item, The effect of servant leadership on customer value co-creation: A cross-level analysis of key mediating roles(2015-08-01) ;Hsiao, Chan ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Chen, Wan-Jun ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceThis study ascertained the effects of servant leadership on customer value co-creation (CVC) through key mediating roles in the hotel industry. We systematically integrated the three levels of organization, employee, and customer to investigate how servant leadership stimulates CVC through the key mediating roles of the positive psychological capital (PPC) and service-oriented organizational citizenship behavior (SOOCB) of employees. Hierarchical linear models were adopted for cross-level analyses, targeting 30 hotels in Taiwan. A total of 650 questionnaires was distributed, and 493 valid questionnaires were retrieved. This study provided three major contributions: (a) This study asserted that servant leadership can systematically stimulate CVC. (b) We shifted the discussions on CVC to the hotel industry, verifying that PPC and SOOCB play the key mediating roles. (c) Finally, this study adopted hierarchical linear models to conduct a cross-level analysis on the relationships among organizations, employees, and customers. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. We adopted structural equation modeling to examine the research hypothesis. The research participants comprised managers from 14 enterprises in China; a total of 1002 valid questionnaires were collected. The results revealed that social and human capital mediate the effect that internal locus of control exerts on entrepreneurship. This study provides the following research contributions: first, the findings address the gaps in previous studies regarding the effect that a single dimension (i.e. personality traits) produces on entrepreneurship. Second, by employing the social exchange and human capital theories, we integrated interpersonal and individual perspectives into the research framework to explore factors affecting entrepreneurship, identifying that social and human capital are key-mediating mechanisms through which locus of control influences entrepreneurship.Item type:Item, The effects of various multimedia instructional materials on students\' learning responses and outcomes: A comparative experimental study(2014-11-01) ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Hsiao, Chan ;Ho, Chin-Husan ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceWe examine whether an e-learning curriculum involving various multimedia instructional materials (MIMs) can stimulate learners\' socialness perceptions, and whether the difference in style has a specific effect on the students\' emotional states (arousal, pleasure, and flow experience) that consequently affect the students\' learning motivations and learning outcomes. We apply an experimental design to three groups of students and compared three types of presentation methods: (a) a PowerPoint presentation (b) a PowerPoint presentation guided by a human-like animated character; (c) a PowerPoint presentation guided by a monster-like animated character. The analysis results show that various types of MIMs result in various social cues that have a significant effect on the students\' socialness perceptions, arousal, pleasure, flow experience, learning motivation, and learning outcome. We contribute to the field of e-learning by integrating MIM, social response theory, flow theory, and learning theory into an innovative model, which sheds light on the perspective that the three groups of various MIMs stimulate an emotional state of students and maximize their learning outcomes. Therefore, when designing the e-learning curricula with animated characters, we recommend that teachers consider how these designs affect students\' emotional responses to ensure the best learning outcomes. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts hierarchical linear model (HLM) to differentiate between the relationships at different levels, with 378 online questionnaires recovered from 42 virtual communities. Findings The results show that group-level relational capital is positively related to self-disclosure and affects it through the partially mediating mechanism of motivation. Relational capital also strengthens the positive influence of the need to be on trend on individual self-disclosure behavior. Originality/value This study makes four research contributions. Firstly, we identify the means by which relational capital established within a virtual community influences user disclosure behavior. This focus differs from those of previous studies, which have emphasized privacy and security of information systems, cost-benefit considerations, and/or adopted personality traits as the research basis. Secondly, this study examines and verifies the mediating mechanism of motivation, establishing an alternative perspective for theoretical studies, and providing future studies with a reference for investigating the self-disclosure behavior of members. Thirdly, this research introduces and verifies the moderating effects of relational capital based on member relationships, thus making further theoretical and empirical contributions. Finally, we adopt HLM to conduct our analyses, thereby ensuring higher precision regarding the explanatory power of group-level explanatory variables for individual-level dependent variables.Item type:Item, The Role of Social Capital and Knowledge Sharing in Transformational Leadership Promoting Value Co-Creation -A Cross-Level Analysis(2014-01-01) ;Hsiao, Chan ;Lee, Yi-Hsuan ;Li, Yi-Hstian ;管理科學系Department of Management ScienceThis study examines how transformational leadership influences value co-creation in virtual communities through various driving factors. Considering that participants of the same virtual community may experience a context effect resulting from perceived organizational consensus, this study employs a hierarchical linear model (HLM) for verification. This study proposes the following hypothesis: transformational leadership affects value co-creation by community members through social capital at the organizational level and knowledge sharing at the individual level. The results show that at the organizational level, transformational leadership positively affects social capital, which in turn positively affects value co-creation at the individual level. In addition, organizational-level transformational leadership positively influences knowledge sharing at the individual level, which in turn positively affects individual-level value co-creation. This study offers four contributions to the field of research: (a) contrary to previous studies that have emphasized commercial virtual communities, this study applies value co-creation to non-commercial virtual communities, investigating these communities to determine the source of innovation value, thereby advancing the exploration of value co-creation; (b) adopting the perspective of community leaders, this study compensates for the deficiencies of previous studies that adopted the perspective of customers; (c) concerning the overall framework, this study establishes organizational- and individual-level driving factors, investigating how transformational leadership influences value co-creation by community members; and (d) regarding methodology, contribution, because virtual community composition exhibits nested characteristics, this study adopts the HLM for verification, increasing the accuracy of cross-level explanatory power that high-level explanatory variables possess for low-level dependent variables.
