Item type:Item, ECONOMIC INVESTIGATION OF PEER PRODUCED SERVICES(2008) ;Li, Yung-Ming ;Lee, Yi-Lin ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceThe main focus of Web 2.0 is on contents and services. In this paper, we propose a game theoretical model to study the business model of peer production based services from the viewpoint of peer participants. As the potential users of the services are free to join, the concern of a typical participant is to evaluate if the benefit from provisioning a variety of resources is worthy. Both self-organized (decentralized) and firm-based (centralized) configurations are investigated The profit, network size and demand are also discussed To ensure the efficiency, an incentive mechanism is proposed. We found that both market configurations are not socially optimal, and would face the recondite trouble of over provisioning or under provisioning. From the view of profit-seeking participants, they would prefer the self-organized market structure.Item type:Item, Online Social Advertising via Influential Endorsers(2012-03-01) ;Li, Yung-Ming ;Lee, Yi-Lin ;Lien, Nine-Jun ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceIn recent years, many Web-based services such as Facebook and MySpace have been making great progress and creating new opportunities. Because online advertising is the main business model for social networking sites, in this paper we propose a social endorser-based advertising system formulated on network influence and user preference analyses. By utilizing the social network and user preference analysis techniques, the theories of dynamic social influence and celebrity endorsement are realized in the proposed advertising approach. Experiments show that our mechanism significantly improves advertising effectiveness and efficiency and outperforms other advertising approaches.Item type:Item, Pricing peer-produced services: Quality, capacity, and competition issues(2010-12-16) ;Li, Yung-Ming ;Lee, Yi-Lin ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinancePeer production has played an important role in the economics of Web 2.0 related services in which user participation and contribution become the main driving dynamics. However, the quality of peer-produced services is uncertain because of inherently decentralized and heterogeneous participants. In the paper, utilizing reliability and game theoretic models, we develop a QoS measure and pricing schemes for this emerging type of service under various market structures. Our results suggest that a monopolistic platform provider has no incentive to offer multiple quality classes of service. Two competing platform providers may offer identical service contracts but still receive non-negative profit. If they offer heterogeneous service contracts, the provider with the lower quality service may provide higher quality than he advertises. This research contributes to the literature with a number of unique and interesting implications for the issues of service contract design, capacity planning, and market interactions for operations of community-based or peer-produced services. In order to recommend suitable and attractive social applications, an efficient recommendation system, considering the popularity and reputation of an application as well as the preferences and social relationships of a user, is proposed. By using Facebook as a test platform, the experiment shows that our model outperforms other methodologies and indicates that social relationships play a more important role than the preferences of a user and the popularity of an application.
