Item type:Item, Entanglement detection via the condition of quantum correlation(2007-09-01) ;Li, Che-Ming ;Hsu, Li-Yi ;Chen, Yueh-Nan ;Chuu, Der-SanBrandes, TobiasWe develop a necessary condition of quantum correlation. It is utilized to construct a d-level bipartite Bell-type inequality which is strongly resistant to noise and requires only analyses of O(d) measurement outcomes compared to the previous result O(d(2)). Remarkably, a connection between the arbitrary high-dimensional bipartite Bell-type inequality and entanglement witnesses is found. Through the necessary condition of quantum correlation, we propose that the witness operators to detect truly multipartite entanglement for a generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state with two local measurement settings and a four-qubit singlet state with three settings. Moreover, we also propose a robust entanglement witness to detect a four-level tripartite GHZ state with only two local measurement settings.Item type:Item, Experimental realization of one-way quantum computing with two-photon four-qubit cluster states(2007-09-21) ;Chen, Kai ;Li, Che-Ming ;Zhang, Qiang ;Chen, Yu-AoGoebel, AlexanderWe report an experimental realization of one-way quantum computing on a two-photon four-qubit cluster state. This is accomplished by developing a two-photon cluster state source entangled both in polarization and spatial modes. With this special source, we implemented a highly efficient Grover's search algorithm and high-fidelity two-qubit quantum gates. Our experiment demonstrates that such cluster states could serve as an ideal source and a building block for rapid and precise optical quantum computation.Item type:Item, Experimental verification of multidimensional quantum steering(2018-03-01) ;Li, Che-Ming ;Lo, Hsin-Pin ;Chen, Liang-Yu ;Yabushita, Atsushi電子物理學系Quantum steering enables one party to communicate with another remote party even if the sender is untrusted. Such characteristics of quantum systems not only provide direct applications to quantum information science, but are also conceptually important for distinguishing between quantum and classical resources. While concrete illustrations of steering have been shown in several experiments, quantum steering has not been certified for higher dimensional systems. Here, we introduce a simple method to experimentally certify two different kinds of quantum steering: Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering and single-system (SS) steering (i.e., temporal steering), for dimensionality (d) up to d = 16. The former reveals the steerability among bipartite systems, whereas the latter manifests itself in single quantum objects. We use multidimensional steering witnesses to verify EPR steering of polarization-entangled pairs and SS steering of single photons. The ratios between the measured witnesses and the maximum values achieved by classical mimicries are observed to increase with.. for both EPR and SS steering. The designed scenario offers a new method to study further the genuine multipartite steering of large dimensionality and potential uses in quantum information processing. (c) 2017 Elsevier B.V. Such correlations, also called entanglements, are not only conceptually important, but also have a profound impact on information science. In theory the violation of Bell inequalities based on local realistic theories for d-dimensional systems provides evidence of quantum nonlocality. Experimental verification is required to confirm whether a quantum system of extremely large dimension can possess this feature, however it has never been performed for large dimension. Here, we report that Bell inequalities are experimentally violated for bipartite quantum systems of dimensionality d=16 with the usual ensembles of polarization-entangled photon pairs. We also estimate that our entanglement source violates Bell inequalities for extremely high dimensionality of d>4000. The designed scenario offers a possible new method to investigate the entanglement of multipartite systems of large dimensionality and their application in quantum information processing.Item type:Item, On a family of quantum search algorithms robust against phase imperfections(2007-12-01) ;Li, Che-Ming ;Hsieh, Jin-Yuan ;Chuu, Der-San ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsA family of algorithms has been recently considered for sure-success quantum search problems. When the phase inversion operations of these algorithms are identical to those of the standard Grover algorithm, it is found that this family of algorithms is robust against the inevitable phase imperfections.Item type:Item, QUANTUM SECRET ENCRYPTION AND DECRYPTION IN CAVITY QED(2009-04-01) ;Li, Che-Ming ;Hsu, Li-Yi ;Chuu, Der-San ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsWe present a proposal of the quantum secret encryption, transmission, and decryption implementation for quantum secret-sharing protocol using cavity QED. In the proposed scheme, the information is stored in two identical two-level atoms, and the two-qubit logic transformation is realized through the interaction between atoms and a nonresonant cavity mode. The proposed scheme requires no ancilla states to assist the intermediate atomic transitions and conditional quantum dynamics for quantum phase flip and quantum state diffusion. The encryption and decryption of quantum states are mostly governed by the Hamiltonian of an atom-cavity system. Moreover, secret transmission using quasi-swap gates for entanglement swapping has also been presented. With fewer supplements of external fields, a speed quantum protocol can be realized without universal gates.
