Item type:Item, 3D Hand Posture Estimation and Task Semantic Monitoring Technique for Human-Robot Collaboration(2013-01-01) ;Hu, Jhen-Jia ;Li, Hui-Chieh ;Wang, Hau-Wei ;Hu, Jwu-Sheng電控工程研究所We develop a monitoring system for human-robot collaboration (HRC) of hybrid automation. The system enables the production line to avoid product defects as well as guarantee a real-time warning system in a cellular manufacturing (CM). A task semantic monitoring system includes the three-dimensional (3D) hand posture estimation and the motion trajectory monitoring. The coordinate of hand, the motion of hand, and the semantic of hand are identified by two integrated modules. The verification is executed by applying the system to the assembly lines for power protector.Item type:Item, A dynamic marketing model for hybrid electric vehicles: A case study of Taiwan(2013-05-01) ;Hsu, Chaug-Ing ;Li, Hui-Chieh ;Lu, Shan-Mei ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementThis study uses an integrated model utilizing a small-world network and choice-based conjoint adoption model to examine the dynamics of consumer choice and diffusion in the hybrid electric vehicles market. It specifically compares the effectiveness of hybrid diffusion through the traditional word of mouth and via social media. The results show that without the advantage of increased gasoline prices, the growth of the hybrid vehicles market is insignificant, and that the Internet has a significant influence on the word of mouth effect in the purchasing process. Hybrid electric vehicles market shares decrease dramatically as a result of negative word of mouth communication via social media. The use of a higher fuel taxes is more effective than providing a subsidy for disposing of old vehicles and purchasing a hybrid. (c) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Grey topological models with Markov-chain were employed to forecast passenger traffic and capture the randomness of the demand. The results show that severe demand fluctuations would drive the airline to lease rather than to purchase its aircrafts. This would allow greater flexibility in fleet management and allows for matching short-term variations in the demand. The results of this study provide a useful reference for airlines in their replacement decision-making procedure by taking into consideration the fluctuations in the market demand and the status of the aircraft. The impacts of economies of scale on the optimal capacity and the production amount are also explored. A heuristic solution approach, based on simulated annealing (SA), is developed to solve the optimal problem. An example of a wafer foundry company is provided to demonstrate the application of the model. Results show that when determining the production amount for multiple plants, a large-sized capacity plant with low capital costs and low production costs has a high priority for fulfilling the capacity due to not only having the higher capability to satisfy the customer demand but also the advantage of saving costs. The results show that the benefits brought about by centralized production are larger than the increased transportation cost. The results also show without using many small-sized capacity plants combined with high utilization, operating few larger-sized capacity plants with lower utilization is more cost effective for the manufacturer as long as the customer demand is large enough to offset the high capital cost (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. In the model, the utility functions comprise two factors: individuals' ability to travel and external environmental factors in different years. Individuals are assumed to pursue a maximised aggregated utility, with various discounts on past and future years subject to time and budget constraints. A questionnaire was designed to calibrate and explore individuals' preferences for international tourism travel from Taiwan. The study collected historic data over the past decade to estimate parameter values for the external environmental factor. The variables, such as travel budget, holiday and vacation days, travel expense and number of travel days are shown to significantly affect individual travel demand. The results support the argument that negative external events, such as an emerging influenza pandemic or economic crisis, have an adverse impact on international travel demand. Moreover, the utility of past travel experience declines at a slower rate than that of expected future travel. The findings imply that past travel experience has an unexpectedly strong impact on future travel decisions. The results also show that travellers tend not to travel until their saving budget has accumulated enough to cover travel expenses. Travellers with high incomes in Taiwan could undertake outbound international travel almost every year.Item type:Item, Optimal delivery service strategy for Internet shopping with time-dependent consumer demand(2006-11-01) ;Hsu, Chaug-Ing ;Li, Hui-Chieh ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementThis study attempts to optimize a delivery service strategy for Internet shopping by considering time-dependent consumer demand, demand-supply interaction and consumer socioeconomic characteristics. A nonlinear mathematical programming model is formulated for solving the optimal number and duration of service cycles for discriminating strategy by maximizing profit subject to demand-supply interaction. An example is employed to demonstrate the application of the model. Results suggest that discriminating service strategy is a better strategy in response to time-dependent consumer demand than uniform strategy. Finally, the proposed model is demonstrated to yield more profit than models that do not consider variations in consumer demand or demand-supply interaction. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. A reliability evaluation method is developed to evaluate the performance of plants under demand fluctuations. In addition, two mathematical programming models are developed to determine the optimal adjustment decisions regarding production reallocation among plants under different fluctuating demands. The judgments to adjust or to do-nothing are investigated by comparing the results if the adjustment is made or not made. Results show that making adjustments benefits the manufacturers by reducing total production cost and avoiding revenue loss, which outweighs the extra costs, especially for high value-added products. Results also suggest that the manufacturer should ignore a short period abnormal state, since the benefits to respond to it might not compensate the high allocation costs. The results of this study provide a reference for the manufacturer in their decision making process of network planning with demand fluctuations, when they have to cope with benefits and costs during abnormal states. An individual choice model is constructed by assuming that the shipper in a specific industry chooses the optimal air cargo carrier with the minimal logistics cost. The study further aggregates air cargo demands on different routes for the carriers by considering the spatial distribution of the origin-destination pattern and any temporal changes in the industrial structure. A case study is used to illustrate the application of the proposed model using data from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and the industrial economics database in Taiwan. The results show that shippers with high product value and short delivery distance focus on the shipping charge and prefer choosing the air cargo carrier that offers more flights. Further a carrier may achieve a larger market share if its supply attributes match the industrial structure and the product characteristics of the market on the route. Finally, because dynamic changes in the industrial structure and product value have been captured, the results are more accurate than that from the Grey model. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Our objective was to minimize not only the fixed costs for dispatching vehicles, but also the transportation, inventory, energy and penalty costs for violating time-windows. We also discussed time-dependent travel and time-varying temperatures, during the day, modifying the objective functions as well as the constraints in the above mathematical programming models. Algorithms were developed to solve the proposed models; results indicated that inventory and energy costs can significantly influence total delivery costs. It was found that our proposed models yielded better results than the traditional VRPTW models. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
