Item type:Item, A Decentralized Repair Mechanism for Decentralized Erasure Code based Storage Systems(2011-01-01) ;Lin, Hsiao-Ying ;Tzeng, Wen-Guey ;Lin, Bao-Shuh ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceErasure code based distributed storage systems provide data robustness by storing encoded-fragments over servers. To maintain data robustness, a repair mechanism recovers a storage system from server failures by repairing encoded-fragments. For decentralized erasure code based storage systems, we propose a decentralized repair mechanism. Our mechanism has the following features. Firstly, an encoded-fragment is replenished by a combination of a number u of encoded-fragments that are randomly chosen. Secondly, the number u depends on the number of the available encoded-fragments and is independent of the pattern of missing encoded-fragments. Thirdly, multiple encoded-fragments are simultaneously replenished in parallel. We measure the communication cost in terms of the number u of required network connections for replenishing an encoded-fragment. We then conducted a numerical analysis by using traces of real systems. We find that our requirement on u is smaller than that from existing methods. Both theoretical and numerical results show that our decentralized repair mechanism outperforms existing ones in terms of the communication cost under the same consideration of efficiency cost for storage.Item type:Item, A Dynamic Security Traversal Mechanism for Providing Deterministic Delay Guarantee in SDN(2014-01-01) ;Chen, Yu-Jia ;Lin, Feng-Yi ;Wang, Li-Chun ;Lin, Bao-Shuh電機資訊學士班For security concerns, a security traversal service can route data flows through a sequences of security devices (middleboxes). In this paper, we identify the problem of delay guarantee in security traversal and propose a scheme to dynamically change the security traversal path. To provide deterministic delay guarantee with minimum virtual machine (VM) and transmission cost, we model this security traversal path determination as a constrained shortest path problem (CSP) and propose an optimal security traversal with middlebox addition (OSTMA) mechanism. Besides, we implement the proposed OSTMA mechanism in an Open Flow network by designing a centralized security traversal controller to dynamically monitor the network condition information and reconfigure the security traversal path. Our experimental results show that the proposed dynamic security traversal scheme can still achieve delay requirements for network topology changes and burst traffic.Item type:Item, MULTI-CAMERA VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION IN TUNNEL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM(2015) ;Chen, Hua-Tsung ;Chu, Ming-Chu ;Chou, Chien-Li ;Lee, Suh-YinLin, Bao-ShuhTunnel traffic security has received increasing attention since accidents in tunnels may cause serious casualties. Surveillance cameras are widely equipped in tunnels for traffic condition monitoring and safety maintenance. Vehicle identification among multiple cameras is an essential component in tunnel surveillance systems. In this paper, we propose a Spatiotemporal Successive Dynamic Programming ((SDP)-D-2) algorithm for identifying vehicles between pairs of cameras. Taking color information into consideration, we extract features based on Harris corner detection with OpponentSIFT descriptors. "Tracking-by-identification" for vehicles across multiple cameras can thus be achieved. Extensive experiments on real tunnel video data show that the proposed (SDP)-D-2 algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art methods.Item type:Item, Smart-Device-Based Augmented Reality (SDAR) Models to Support Interior Design: Rethinking "Screen" in Augmented Reality(2013) ;Hsu, Pei-Hsien ;Huang, Sheng-Yang ;Lin, Bao-Shuh ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityAs the viewing devices for augmented reality (AR) shift from head-mounted display to smart devices, screen becomes a design factor which affects the viewing experience and associated conceptions. In this paper, we present three models of smart-device-based augmented reality (SDAR) for applications in interior design. The objective is to provide a theoretical framework for the rethinking of augmented reality based on relationships among screen, body, space and information, leading to developments in SDAR-assisted design for interior design profession.Item type:Item, The Design of Big Data Analytics for Testing & Measurement and Traffic Flow on an Experimental 4G/LTE Network(2015) ;Lin, Bao-Shuh ;Tung, Li-Ping ;Hsieh, I-Ching ;Liu, Tsai-HuaChou, Shu-YuanBML(Broadband Mobile Lab.) at NCTU has been utilized to support the testing & measurement for communication and networking products. It also has proven to be able to develop applications and services in a campus scale experimental networking environment. In the meantime, ITRI in Taiwan is conducting a greater metropolitan (Hsinchu) scale experimental networking environment, called ITRINET under the MOEA national program to improve and speed up the 4G/LTE applications and services. The BML at NCTU will be integrated with ITRINET and merged to become its subnet. With the cloud-enabled 4G/LTE-based ITRINET, we have designed the system to conduct the big data analytics for testing&measurement data and for network traffic and management data through a real-time streaming computing software package, InfoSphere, run on a cloud server platform, Inventec Zion. The testing&measurement data is generated and collected through the industry-academia R&D services while the network traffic and management data is created and collected by engaged a variety of APP\'s on smart devices (SD). This paper addresses the system design methodology and issues related to the data analytics for an experimental network environment.
