Item type:Item, Accurate stereo matching algorithm based on cost aggregation with adaptive support weight(2015-11-01) ;Lin, C. -H. ;Liu, C. -W. ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThe primary aim of this paper is to develop an accurate stereo matching algorithm based on cost aggregation with adaptive support weight (CAASW). In this study, we use a pair of images (from left and right cameras) to find corresponding points. First, the truncated absolute difference is represented as cost computing, and the cost aggregation is completed with adaptive support weight. The winner take all method is then used to find the minimum cost aggregation value of the location in order to obtain the initial disparity. In order to enhance the accuracy of this study, a disparity map is employed, which uses continuity for disparity neighboring relationships; the histogram is represented as a disparity refinement, making it possible to reduce the disparity map\'s errors. In this paper, the CAASW can be divided into two parts. The first part is CABSW, a method employing binary target and reference images with an area of intersection to form an irregular adaptive support window. The second part is CAASW, using similarity and proximity as features of an adaptive support window with CABSW. In order to better represent the accuracy of this method, the experiment uses the Middlebury database, in addition to other methods, for comparison and analysis, to explore the experimental results and to obtain results with a lower percentage of unsatisfactory matching pixels. Future research will explore applications of this method in robot navigation, industrial manufacturing, human interface, three-dimensional reconstruction and improved computer intelligence capabilities.Item type:Item, Examining Asymmetric Behavior Between Energy Consumption and Economic Growth in Taiwan(2013) ;Hu, J. -L. ;Lin, C. -H. ;經營管理研究所Institute of Business and ManagementEnergy consumption growth has recently been higher than economic growth in Taiwan, worsening energy efficiency. This article utilizes the momentum-threshold autoregressive cointegration method to examine the long-run equilibrium relationship between economic growth and energy consumption growth, particularly focusing on the most energy-consuming sectors in Taiwan. Allowing for a threshold effect sheds new light on the explanation of the non-linear characteristics of the energy-growth link The results indicate that economic growth is non-linearly cointegrated with energy consumption when the asymmetric adjusting behavior is confirmed. Specifically, we find that the deviations adjust persistently toward equilibrium in a relative energy efficiency regime for the aggregate-level, while for the sector level in a relative energy inefficiency regime. The government authority should conduct effective energy demand-side management to improve energy efficiency.Item type:Item, Examining Asymmetric Behavior Between Energy Consumption and Economic Growth in Taiwan(2012) ;Hu, J. -L. ;Lin, C. -H. ;經營管理研究所Institute of Business and ManagementEnergy consumption growth has recently been higher than economic growth in Taiwan, worsening energy efficiency. Photonics 7, 13 (2012) due to their emission tunability and near-unity photoluminescence quantum yields. In the current commercial LEDs, QDs are dispersed into an encapsulation layer in a far-field architecture, where the majority of the light emitted by the LED remains trapped within the epitaxy due to total internal reflection, drastically reducing the out-coupling efficiency. In this paper, we demonstrate a photonic quasi-crystal hybrid LED geometry that allows QD emitters to be placed in close proximity to the multiple quantum wells (MQWs) of the active area. This architecture greatly improves the coupling between MQWs and QDs, simultaneously allowing for a non-radiative resonant energy transfer between the MQWs and the QDs and near-field radiative coupling of trapped ( guided) modes in the LED to the emitters. In this configuration, we demonstrate record-breaking effective quantum yields reaching 123% for single-color conversion LEDs and 110% for white light-emitting devices. ALBP are based on texture features for local binary patterns. The texture features were used to propose an adaptive local binary patterns histogram (ALBPH) and gradient for adaptive local binary patterns (GALBP) in this study. Two texture features are most useful for describing the relationship in a local neighbourhood. ALBPH shows the texture distribution of an image by identifying and employing the difference between the centre pixel and the neighbourhood pixel values. In the GALBP, the gradient for each pixel is computed and the sum of the gradient of the ALBP number is adopted as an image feature. In this study, a set of colour and greyscale images were used to generate a variety of image subsets. Then, image retrieval and classification experiments were carried out for analysis and comparison with other methods. From the experimental results, the authors discovered that the proposed feature extraction method can effectively describe the characteristics of images in regard to texture image and image type. The image retrieval and classification experiments also produced better results than other methods.Item type:Item, SIMULATIONS OF SILICON CZ GROWTH IN A CUSP MAGNETIC FIELD(2011) ;Lin, C. -H. ;Chen, P. -W. ;Chen, Ching-Yao ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThis study numerically investigates the crystal growth subjected to a cusp direct current magnetic field. The numerical simulations, implemented by means of a commercial CGsim package, are based on the momentum equations coupled with energy transfer and electric current flow equations in the melt zone. Generally, the presence of the magnetic field stabilizes flow patterns of the melt, which is favorable to the processes of crystal growth. Detailed discussions regarding the flow fields and temperature distributions for the cases with various locations of the coils are presented. Determined by the overall factors, such as the interfacial shape and V/G ratio, an intermediate distance of the coils' center above the melt interface is suggested for producing crystals of better quality.
