Y. ;Lin, C. T. ;Er, M. J.Prasad, O. K.In this paper, a novel fuzzy rule transfer mechanism for self-constructing neural fuzzy inference networks is being proposed. The features of the proposed method, termed data-driven neural fuzzy system with collaborative fuzzy clustering mechanism (DDNFS-CFCM) are; (1) Fuzzy rules are generated facilely by fuzzy c-means (FCM) and then adapted by the preprocessed collaborative fuzzy clustering (PCFC) technique, and (2) Structure and parameter learning are performed simultaneously without selecting the initial parameters. The DDNFS-CFCM can be applied to deal with big data problems by the virtue of the PCFC technique, which is capable of dealing with immense datasets while preserving the privacy and security of datasets. Initially, the entire dataset is organized into two individual datasets for the PCFC procedure, where each of the dataset is clustered separately. The knowledge of prototype variables (cluster centers) and the matrix of just one halve of the dataset through collaborative technique are deployed. The DDNFS-CFCM is able to achieve consistency in the presence of collective knowledge of the PCFC and boost the system modeling process by parameter learning ability of the self-constructing neural fuzzy inference networks (SONFIN). The proposed method outperforms other existing methods for time series prediction problems. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. T.Preprocessing is generally used for data analysis in the real world datasets that are noisy, incomplete and inconsistent. In this paper, preprocessing is used to refine the inconsistency of the prototype and partition matrices before getting involved in the collaboration process. To date, almost all organizations are trying to establish some collaboration with others in order to enhance the performance of their services. Due to privacy and security issues they cannot share their information and data with each other. Collaborative clustering helps this kind of collaborative process while maintaining the privacy and security of data and can still yield a satisfactory result. Preprocessing helps the collaborative process by using an induced partition matrix generated based on cluster prototypes. The induced partition matrix is calculated from local data by using the cluster prototypes obtained from other data sites. Each member of the collaborating team collects the data and generates information locally by using the fuzzy c-means (FCM) and shares the cluster prototypes to other members. The other members preprocess the centroids before collaboration and use this information to share globally through collaborative fuzzy clustering (CFC) with other data. This process helps system to learn and gather information from other data sets. It is found that preprocessing helps system to provide reliable and satisfactory result, which can be easily visualized through our simulation results in this paper.Item type:Item, Collaborative Fuzzy Rule Learning for Mamdani Type Fuzzy Inference System with Mapping of Cluster Centers(2014) ;Prasad, M. ;Chou, K. P. ;Saxena, A. ;Kawrtiya, O. P.Li, D. L.This paper demonstrates a novel model for Mamdani type fuzzy inference system by using the knowledge learning ability of collaborative fuzzy clustering and rule learning capability of FCM. The collaboration process finds consistency between different datasets, these datasets can be generated at various places or same place with diverse environment containing common features space and bring together to find common features within them. For any kind of collaboration or integration of datasets, there is a need of keeping privacy and security at some level. By using collaboration process, it helps fuzzy inference system to define the accurate numbers of rules for structure learning and keeps the performance of system at satisfactory level while preserving the privacy and security of given datasets.Item type:Item, Electrically Controlled Phase Shifter using Semiconductor Laser in Optical Single Sideband System(2009) ;Wu, F. C. ;Wu, F. K. ;Kao, W. C. ;Chen, J.Lin, C. T.This work experimentally demonstrates improvement of the fast light property in erbium-doped amplifiers at room temperature. The difference between the signal power and the pump power associated with bending loss is used to control the signal power at the different positions of the erbium-doped fiber (EDF) to improve the fast light property. Periodic bending of the EDF increases the time advance of the probe signal by over 288%. Additionally, this concept also could improve the fast light property using coherent population oscillations in semiconductor optical amplifiers.Item type:Item, Influence of EEG tonic changes on Motor Imagery performance(2017-01-01) ;Nascimben, M. ;Wang, Y. K. ;Singh, A. K. ;King, J. T.Lin, C. T.In Motor Imagery literature, performance predictors are commonly divided in four categories: personal, psychological, anatomical and neurophysiological. However these predictors are limited to inter-subjects changes. To overcome this limitation and evaluate intra-subjects performance, we tried to combine two groups of these measures: psychological and neurophysiological. As neurophysiological variables tonic changes in resting EEG theta and alpha sub-bands were considered. As psychological parameter we analyzed internalized attention and its correlates in lower alpha. We found that when internalized attention doesn't decrease, Motor Imagery performance outcome can be correctly predicted by resting EEG tonic variations.Item type:Item, Optical Vector Signal Generation Using Double Sideband with Carrier Suppression and Frequency Multiplication(2008) ;Lin, C. T. ;Wei, C. C. ;Chen, C. W.Chen, Z. Y.We experimentally demonstrate a visible light communication (VLC) system based on a single commercially available RGB-type LED. High spectrally efficient carrier-less amplitude and phase (CAP) modulation and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) are adopted in the intensity-modulation and direct-detection VLC system of limited bandwidth. In order to achieve higher capacity of the uneven-frequency-response LED-based VLC system, OFDM signals are combined with the bit-and power-loading techniques, and CAP signals of various modulation are pre-emphasized to modulate one of the RGB chips. To reach the BER of less than 10(-3), CAP and OFDM signals demonstrate the maximum data rates of 1.32 and 1.08 Gb/s, respectively, employing the blue chip. In addition to spectrally efficient formats, the wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) scheme is applied to further increase the capacity. After individually optimizing RGB chips, the maximum aggregate data rates of CAP and OFDM are 3.22 and 2.93 Gb/s, respectively, in our RGB-LED-based WDM VLC system. Hence, compared with OFDM, the CAP scheme shows competitive performance and provides an alternative spectrally efficient modulation for next generation optical wireless networks.Item type:Item, Polarization Switching in 1.3-mu m Quantum Dot Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers(2009) ;Wu, F. Y. ;Joshi, S.Lin, C. T.In this paper, a Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) type collaborative fuzzy rule based system is proposed with the help of knowledge learning ability of collaborative fuzzy clustering (CFC). The proposed method split a huge dataset into several small datasets and applying collaborative mechanism to interact each other and this process could be helpful to solve the big data issue. The proposed method applies the collective knowledge of CFC as input variables and the consequent part is a linear combination of the input variables. Through the intensive experimental tests on prediction problem, the performance of the proposed method is as higher as other methods. The proposed method only uses one half information of given dataset for training process and provide an accurate modeling platform while other methods use whole information of given dataset for training.Item type:Item, Tunable optical group delay in quantum dot vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser at 10 GHz(2006-08-31) ;Peng, P.
