Item type:Item, A comparison of innovation policy in the smart grid industry across the pacific: China and the USA(2013-06-01) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Yang, Chia-Han ;Shyua, Joseph Z. ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyUtilities are increasing their investment in smart grid technologies because of the rising demand for electricity, the aging transmission and distribution infrastructure in developed countries and the need for real-time visibility of energy supply and demand to optimize service reliability and cost. Government policies are contributing to this rising investment in the smart grid in many countries around the globe. Using Rothwell and Zegveld's innovation policy framework as a starting point, this paper compares innovation policy in smart grids across the Pacific; specifically, China and the USA. This research describes the policy tools used by both countries and presents results that indicate national preferences for innovation policy that differ in the ways in which they are linked with the state of the power system. China has preferred to use "supply-side policy," which focuses on "public enterprise, scientific and technical development and legal regulation." The USA has preferred to use "environmental-side policy," which focuses on "scientific and technical development, financial, political and public enterprise." This paper also describes in detail a number of innovation policies being pursued in the smart grid industry in both China and the USA. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. This thesis is to predict the future demand for 3G mobile for diffusion of innovation, whose model is often used to predict the demand for new products and discuss the dynamic process of diffusion. Accordingly, this study can provide better efficient advice to the industry of the up-coming 3G environment. This research adopts diffusion model, least squares analysis and logistic analysis to forecast the future demand. The data is taken from Telecommunications Carriers Association subscriber database in Taiwan in 2007. These analysis tools were MatLab, LogletLab and SPSS. Thus, the aims of present research are: to investigate this innovation diffusion; to identify adoption by potential adopters with potential non-adopters of the innovation. The methodology was tested, compared and results revealed that the prediction capability of the proposed system dynamics methodology access to ODE-EULER is better than those methodologies of LogletLab and least squares analysis.Item type:Item, Anodic aluminum oxide as a template for CNT field emitters and AAO-CNT triode structure(2005) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Pan, Fu-Ming ;Liu, Mei ;Chang, Kai-ChunChen, Po-LinWe have used anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) as the template to grow carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for the application of field-emission display technology. In order to obtain optimal field emission properties, we have tried to control the density and the length of the CNTs grown from AAO pore channels by tuning the growth time and the CH4 concentration of the precursor gas mixture. AAO pore channel arrays were grown in the triode structure, which was fabricated on silicon wafers by conventional integrated circuit processes.Item type:Item, Anodic-aluminum-oxide templated carbon nanotubes in the field emission triode(2007) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Chang, Kai-Chun ;Pan, Fu-Ming ;Kuo, Cheng-TzuLiu, MeiTo fabricate the field-emission triode structure, carbon nanotubes (CNT) were used as field emitters and grown in the anodic aluminum oxide (AAO). AAO thin layer with vertical pore channels was first prepared on the Si (100) substrate and was used to template the following growth of CNTs in an electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (ECR-CVD) system. The tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) oxide and At layer were deposited on the CAITs and acted as the dielectric layer and gate electrode layers for the triode structure, respectively. Reactive ion and wet etches were then used to open the field-emission area in the triode. Field-emission characteristics of the CNT emitters have been studied and an anode turn-on field of similar to 8.05 V/mu m was measured.Item type:Item, Feasibility study of high performance field emitter pattern with the horizontally oriented carbon nanotubes by electrophoresis(2009-02-01) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Chen, Ying-Chun ;Wang, Terry ;Kuo, Cheng-Tzu材料科學與工程學系For the field emitter applications, electrophoretic deposition (EPD) followed by post air annealing treatment was developed to selectively deposit the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) pattern made of Al and SiO(2) coatings. The EPD was conducted from a solution mixture of SWNTs and various dispersants or surfactants, including sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and trictylphosphine oxide. Effects of the processing parameters of EPD and the post air annealing treatment on SWNTs dispersion, morphology, field emission (FE), and film-substrate adhesion were examined. The results indicate that the SIDS is the best surfactant in terms of SWNTs dispersion and solution stability, and the EPD parameters have no significant effects on their FE and adhesion properties of the deposited films. However. a higher post annealing temperature combined with an optimum annealing time is required to improve the film-substrate adhesion, so to reduce its electrical resistance and to enhance FE properties. The high performance annealed films with negligible internal stress are made of the micro-sized islands with the horizontally oriented SWNTs between them. The results also show that the pattern made of conductive and nonconductive coatings, such as Al and SiO(2), can be successfully used to deposit SWNTs pattern by EPD. To obtain the self-consistent solution, a set of Maxwell's equations coupling with Lorentz equation are solved simultaneously using finite difference time domain (FDTD) particle-in-cell (PIC) method. The FE current is then computed with the Fowler-Nordheim equation. To validate our simulation model, we firstly calibrate the collected electron current density between the measurement data of fabricated AAO-CNTs and simulation result. We find that the high density of CNTs will result in large screening effect among adjacent emitters and reduce the strength of electric field. Consequently, it significantly affects the collected emission current density. Our prediction shows that more than three-order magnitude difference on the collected emission current density could be observed when the spacing between CNTs is decreased from 0.7 to 0.233 mu m for the explored structure with the diameter of 7 mu m. Effects of random heights and thickness of oxide on the FE property of structure are also discussed.Item type:Item, Field emission property of CNT field emitters in the triode structure with anodic aluminum oxide template(2007) ;Cheng, Hui-Wen ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Li, Yiming ;Pan, Fu-Ming電信工程研究所Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are grown in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) and use as field emitters in a triode structure. To fabricate the field-emission triode structure, nanoporous AAO thin layer is first prepared on the Si(100) substrate, followed by the growth of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes in AAO pore channels by electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition. The SiO(2) dielectric and Al gate electrode layers requires for the triode structure are directly deposited on the CNTs. Reactive ion and wet etches are then used to open the field-emission area in the triode. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy studies reveal that damage to CNT emitters in the etched area is trivial. Field emission properties of CNT emitters are then calculated by solving a set of Maxwell equations with FDTD-PIC method. Calibration between the measured current and computed results is performed to validate the theoretical approach. According to our investigation, 10 CNTs in the explored single triode structure show the best current density of the structure.Item type:Item, Growth of carbon nanotube field emitters in the triode structure using anodic aluminum oxide as the template(2007-04-01) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Chang, Kai-Chun ;Pan, Fu-Ming ;Kuo, Cheng-TzuLiu, MaiCarbon nanotubes (CNT) were grown in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) and used as field emitters in a triode structure. Through an intensive case study of the ups and downs of the display industry, this paper examines the panel makers suffered from low panel price and unstable market demand, then they have changed to react to the rapid demand in the market or have lower panel stock for keeping supply and demand more balanced. In addition, this paper suggests a co-evolution forecasting process of sales and market factor. It can automatically apply various combinations of both linear and nonlinear models, and which alternatives deliver the lowest statistical error and produce a good estimate for the prediction of markets. Moreover, this article shows how the system is modeled and its accuracy is proved by means of experimental results; and judged by 3 evaluation criteria, including the mean square error (MSE), the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and the average square root error (ASRE) were used as the performance criteria to automatically select the optimal forecasting model. Finally, the results showed that the proposed system had considerably better predictive performance than previous and individual models. To summarize, the proposed system can reduce the user\'s effort for easier obtaining the desired forecasting results and create high quality forecasts. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. A larger Co particle electrodeposited in the AAO pore channel produced vertically aligned CNFs with a tube diameter in compliance with the pore size of the AAO template. On the other hand, a smaller Co particle resulted in CNF growth with a nonuniform distribution of the tube diameter and a sparse tube density. Amorphous carbon residue produced under the plasma-assisted CNF growth condition seemed to play an essential role leading to the observation. A growth mechanism is proposed to delineate the volume effect of the electrodeposited Co catalyst on the CNF growth confined in pore channels of the AAO template. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. To fabricate the FE triode structure, nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) thin layer was first prepared on the Si substrate, followed by the growth of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes in AAO pore channels by electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition. The SiO2 dielectric and Al gate electrode layers required for the triode structure were directly deposited on the CNTs. Reactive ion and wet etches were then used to open the FE area in the triode. We employ the finite difference time domain particle-in-cell method to calculate the structure FE properly, where the results are calibrated with the collected FE current of the fabricated samples. The FE current Of Structure is then examined with respect to different shape, random height and angle of the CNT emitters. For symmetric shapes, like circle and square, the emission beam has been more focusing than triangle and trapezoid. The electric field of random height of CNTs is stronger than that of random angle. It is implied that the vertical CNTs has better FE property. Having the symmetric shape and vertical CNTs in triode Structure benefits the FE sources for advanced flat display technologies.Item type:Item, Service Innovation on Electronic Business: The Case Study of Taiwan(2010) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Chen, Jou-Chen ;Shyu, Joseph Z. ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyThis paper presents the evolution of service innovation on e-business (electronic commerce) industry and forecast the future market demand in Taiwan. The emerging business model of service innovation creates many value-adding economical activities for e-business sector, including retail, finance, transportation, and entertainment. E-business industry becomes more dynamic and diversified. With multiple-analysis, this study used not only Bass model to forecast the life cycle of e-business industry, but network analysis, content analysis and interviews to deepen understanding of the process of service innovation within the broad electronic services scope. This study has suggested e-business industry in Taiwan has turned mass service into infrastructure, platform and software service and build another industrial life cycle. The findings of this study also have implications for the new business model based on new service innovation and innovative service diffusion. A limitation is well known fact that sudden services breakthroughs often have not been foreseen by the majority of main-stream e-business services.Item type:Item, Technology Development and Application of Future Hydrogen Energy Industry and Taiwan Hydrogen Industry(2010) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Shyu, Joseph Z. ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyThe core objective of this work is to analyze the possible future relevance of hydrogen from renewable energy sources focused on technology development and application from content analysis, and with special focus on Taiwan. This research was carried out to investigate hydrogen production, storage, delivery and application. The major conclusion of this analysis is that hydrogen is a suitable alternative energy but it still has a long way to go. We should develop different kinds of alternative energies to try to replace fossil fuels, not only hydrogen. The major reason for this is that a successful transition to the hydrogen economy requires not only advanced hydrogen technologies and application, but also a reformation of energy infrastructure and policy support. Hence, there are still limits to hydrogen economy in the future. Only after further comprehensive technological developments and corresponding favorable political support could become a competitive energy industry in Taiwan.Item type:Item, The study of the KM gaps between personal knowledge management and enterprise knowledge management(2007-01-01) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Hsieh, Ping-Jung ;Shyu, Joseph Z. ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityIn recent years, there has been increased emphasis on the importance of knowledge management (KM) in facilitating knowledge workers, enhancing productivity, and increasing business competitiveness. Enterprises also have recognized knowledge workers as a key source of competitive advantage. Therefore, keeping daily work comes to personal knowledge mangement, (PKM), is very important for knowledge workers to get a handle on the amounts of information every day. Hence, major role of enterprise knowledge management (EKM) function services in establishing environment, resource, information and knowledge for knowledge workers executing PKM. PKM and EKM were both proposed to efficiently and effetively acquire knowledge. Due to these reasons above, this article deals with knowledge management gaps between PKM and EKM. Two phase studies are proposed in this study. The first model discusses the influential factors between PKM and EKM. The second phase study further explores if influential factors change into KM gaps between PKM and EKM. This paper will be surveyed by questionnaire. And the data analysis is manipulated by using the statistical methods, including descriptive statistics analysis, internal consistency reliability, student's Nest, chi-square test and factor analysis. The study actually confirmed hypotheses mentioned above. That would mean that the parent organizations should put more efforts in amending knowledge management, especially in technology, structure, and culture KM gaps. Reducing the KM gaps in attributing to improve knowledge management activities fosters knowledge workers to execute PKM, which will eventually result in a more effective and satisfactory accomplishment of knowledge management. The major expected practical implication is the benefit of knowledge workers as a result of better individual work performance in KM activity and in the overall organization KM process.Item type:Item, The study of the KM gaps between personal knowledge management and enterprise knowledge management(2007-01-01) ;Lin, Chen-Chun ;Hsieh, Ping-Jung ;Shyu, Joseph Z. ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyIn recent years, there has been increased emphasis on the importance of knowledge management (KM) in facilitating knowledge workers, enhancing productivity, and increasing business competitiveness.
