Item type:Item, Influence of reduced graphene oxide on material, antibacterial, and piezoelectric behaviors of ZnO nanorods on foldable indium tin oxide substrates(2019-07-01) ;Tsai, Yu-Sheng ;Chen, Yan Yu ;Xu, Chun Yu ;Chang, Yu ChengTsai, Yang YangIn this study, zinc oxide nanostructures integrated with reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were fabricated on foldable indium tin oxide substrates. To study the influence of RGO on the material, antibacterial, and piezoelectric properties on the nanostructures, multiple material, antibacterial, and electrical measurements were performed. Results indicate that inserting a RGO layer on the foldable substrate could form nanocylinder ZnO structures, which induced hydrophobicity and better antibacterial properties. Moreover, addition of appropriate RGO into ZnO seed layer may cause the growth of finer ZnO nanorods (NRs) and enhance piezoelectric effects. With stable electrical pulse generative piezoelectric effects and antibacterial properties, ZnO nanostructures with addition of RGO on foldable substrates have potential for future flexible biomedical and electronics applications.Item type:Item, Investigations of Electro-hydrothermally Grown ZnO Nanostructures on Copper Grids(2017-01-01) ;Yu, Tzu-Yi ;Hung, Chen Hao ;Lee, Yu Shan ;Lin, Chia FengSu, Wei MinTwo types of ZnO nanostructures were electro-hydrothermally deposited on mesh 100 and 200 copper grids. To investigate the nanostructures, multiple material analyses were used to analyze the material properties. FESEM images indicate that nanoflowers/nanorods could be grown on the mesh 100 copper grids while a single layer of ZnO nanorods could be grown on the mesh 200 copper grids. Since the size of the grid holes might influence the chemical reactions during the growth of the nanostructures, all the other material analyzes also reveale1 distinct material characteristics of these two types of nanostructures on the copper grid. Based on the experimental results, modulating the ZnO nanostructure will be helpful for future applications of ZnO nanostructures on copper substrates.Item type:Item, Using RFID guiding systems to enhance user experience(2009) ;Lin, Hsien Tang ;Lin, Chia Feng ;Yuan, Shyan Ming ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer SciencePurpose - The purpose of this article is to present a guiding system with enhanced functionality based upon radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to promote a user friendly experience. Design/methodology/approach - Based on a user survey, the paper provides a guiding system using RFID with blog platform for further interaction. An example of this technology was built into a gallery at a college in Taiwan. Findings - This guiding system is defined as pull type because users actively pull the relevant information using RFID readers. With such functionalities, users have the opportunity to acquire information, using a mobile device, about a specific object in a context-aware manner. In addition, users can share ideas and comments related to the object on blogs with others who had visited or will visit the object or site. The user survey results showed that visitors seldom met the artists at an exhibition of their works, but desired to discuss and shares comments with them and other visitors. The proposed system addressees this need with a blog, and the user satisfaction survey confirmed that the proposed system met the requirements. Originality/value - The paper provides a guiding system to enhancing user experience by RFID and blog. The system also builds a channel between the creators of the artworks and others.Item type:Item, ZnO nanoflakes on silver wires with antibacterial effects(2016-05-01) ;Huang, Shen-Che ;Hsieh, Kun Min ;Chang, Ting Wei ;Chen, Yi CianYu, Chang-Tze RickyZnO structures were electro-hydrothermally grown on copper and silver wires. To characterize the structures, multiple analyses including field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and photoluminescence measurements were performed on the ZnO structures on the wires. Results indicate that ZnO nanoflakes were densely deposited on the silver wire but poor ZnO structures were grown on the copper wire. Furthermore, OD 600 antibacterial tests revealed that ZnO flakes on the silver wire exhibited better antibacterial capability than the silver wire without ZnO nanoflakes. Because of possible integration with silver-related materials and flexibility of wire structures, ZnO nanoflake-coated silver wires have potentials for future antiseptic and biomedical applications. Results indicate that a core-shell structure with an appropriate sulfurization period of 10 min had better H-2 sensing performance than those of all other growth conditions. Furthermore, multiple material characterizations revealed that ZnS with a growth time of 10 min could form high-quality and good-adherent ZnS powders with moderate thickness attached to the ZnO nanorods. Because of their small size, portability, simple fabrication and high sensitivity, ZnO/ZnS core-shell based H-2 gas sensors show promise for future H-2 detecting applications.
