Item type:Item, A High-Quality Image Authentication Scheme for AMBTC-compressed Images(2014-12-31) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Huang, Yuehong ;Tai, Wei-Liang ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn this paper, we present a high-quality image authentication scheme based on absolute moment block truncation coding. In the proposed scheme, we use the parity of the bitmap (BM) to generate the authentication code for each compressed image block. Data hiding is used to authenticate whether the content has been altered or not. For image authentication, we embed the authentication code to quantization levels of each image block compressed by absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC) which will be altered when the host image is manipulated. The embedding position is generated by a pseudo-random number generator for security concerned. Besides, to improve the detection ability we use a hierarchical structure to ensure the accuracy of tamper localization. A watermarked image can be precisely inspected whether it has been tampered intentionally or incautiously by checking the extracted watermark. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed scheme achieved high-quality embedded images and good detection accuracy, with stable performance and high expansibility. Performance comparisons with other block-based data hiding schemes are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme.Item type:Item, A novel hybrid image authentication scheme based on absolute moment block truncation coding(2017-01) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Huang, Yuehong ;Tai, Wei-Liang ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceWe propose a novel hybrid image authentication scheme to protect the integrity of images compressed by absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC). In this paper, we use a hybrid strategy to embed the authentication codes using AMBTC that at the same time improves the embedding efficiency. All blocks of a compressed image are classified into two groups, smooth and complex, which have different characteristics and may suit different embedding methods. For smooth blocks, the authentication code will be embedded into the bitmap (BM) of each block. For complex blocks, the authentication code will be embedded into quantization levels of each block according to a reference table. In contrast to the previous approach, the hybrid strategy allows for a high utilization of blocks that have high embedding efficiency for embedding, thus giving a significantly improved embedding capacity than the previous approach. The performance is evaluated experimentally to demonstrate that our proposed scheme provides improved image quality and is less vulnerable to tampering compared with existing methods.Item type:Item, A novel reversible data hiding scheme based on AMBTC compression technique(2015-06-01) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Liu, Xiao-Long ;Tai, Wei-Liang ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming資訊工程學系Data hiding encompasses a wide range of applications for embedding messages in content. However, hiding data inevitably destroys the host image, even though the distortion is imperceptible. To enhance the hiding capacity and maintain the quality of the host image after embedding hidden data, in this paper, we present a high payload reversible data hiding scheme that is based on the absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC) compression domain. We explore the redundancy in a block of AMBTC-compressed images to determine if a block is embeddable or non-embeddable. Next, we create four disjoint sets for embeddable blocks to embed data using different combinations of the mean value and the standard deviation. Performance comparisons with other BTC-based schemes are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme.Item type:Item, An Optimal Modified BTC Scheme based on Binary Search Tree(2014-01-01) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Liu, Xiao-Long ;Zhou, Jian-Jie ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming資訊工程學系With the purpose of improving the visual quality of an original block truncation coding (BTC) compressed image, an optimal modified BTC scheme (OMBTC) is proposed. The binary search tree (BST) technique is utilized to determine the optimal quantization of each image block. The proposed scheme is compared with several existing modification BTC schemes; the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can preserve high image quality after compression.Item type:Item, Blind Dual Watermarking for Color Images' Authentication and Copyright Protection(2018-05-01) ;Liu, Xiao-Long ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThis paper presents a blind dual watermarking mechanism for digital color images in which invisible robust watermarks are embedded for copyright protection and fragile watermarks are embedded for image authentication. For the purpose of copyright protection, the first watermark is embedded using the discrete wavelet transform in YCbCr color space, and it can be extracted blindly without access to the host image. However, fragile watermarking is based on an improved least significant bits' replacement approach in RGB components for image authentication. The authenticity and integrity of a suspicious image can be verified blindly without the host image and the original watermark. The combination of robust and fragile watermarking makes the proposed mechanism suitable for protecting valuable original images. The experimental results indicated that the proposed watermarking mechanism can withstand various processing attacks and accurately locate the tampered area of an image.Item type:Item, Crystal Quality and Light Output Power of GaN-Based LEDs Grown on Concave Patterned Sapphire Substrate(2015-04-01) ;Wu, YewChung Sermon ;Isabel, A. Panimaya Selvi ;Zheng, Jian-Hsuan ;Lin, Bo-WenLi, Jhen-HongThe crystal quality and light output power of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) grown on concave patterned sapphire substrate (CPSS) were investigated. It was found that the crystal quality of GaN-based LEDs grown on CPSS improved with the decrease of the pattern space (percentage of c-plane). However, when the pattern space decreased to 0.41 mu m (S0.41-GaN), the GaN crystallinity dropped. On the other hand, the light output power of GaN-based LEDs was increased with the decrease of the pattern space due to the change of the light extraction efficiency.Item type:Item, Fragile Watermarking-based Authentication Scheme for Demosaicked Images(2015) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Liu, Xiao-Long ;Lin, Cheng-Han ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming資訊工程學系This paper presents a reversible fragile watermarking scheme for the authentication of demosaicked images. Each authentication code is embedded into the two rebuilt components of each color pixel by using a designed authentication table (ACT). The utilization of ACT secures the watermarking procedure and the watermarked image can be recovered back to the original demosaicked image by the proposed scheme. The proposed scheme is compared with some existing image authentication schemes, and the experimental results demonstrate that our scheme can preserve better image quality and provides superior tamper detection performance.Item type:Item, Guest editorial: Advances in Digital and Multimedia Convergence(2012-10-01) ;Kim, SooKyun ;Arreymbi, Johnnes ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, Impact of Multi-Domain Interaction on ON-State Characteristics of MFIS-Type 2D Negative-Capacitance FETs(2019-01-01) ;Lu, Po-Sheng ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Su, Pin ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsIn this work, with the aid of segmented SPICE simulation, we investigate the impact of multi-domain interaction on MFIS-type 2D Negative-Capacitance FETs with emphasis on the ON-state characteristics. Our study indicates that the multi-domain interaction enhances the lateral electric field for the MFIS device, leading to a higher ON-current. In addition, the multi-domain interaction increases the saturation drain voltage of the MFIS device due to the rise of the internal voltage near the drain-side. Our study also suggests that the negative differential resistance (NDR) effect present in MFIS devices may result from the strong domain interaction in addition to negative DIBL.Item type:Item, Joint Data Hiding and Compression Scheme Based on Modified BTC and Image Inpainting(2019-01-01) ;Liu, Xiaolong ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Muhammad, Khan ;Al-Turjman, FadiYuan, Shyan-MingSeamlessly integrating image compression technique and secret data hiding technique into a single procedure for security and efficient data transmission is a novel research issue in modern, decentralized digital communication environments. The first joint data hiding and compression (JDHC) scheme on block truncation coding (BTC) compression domain is presented in this paper. In the compressing and embedding procedure, for the complex blocks, modified block truncation coding (MBTC) is utilized to embed secret data and compress blocks simultaneously, while further controlling the visual distortion that is caused during data embedding. For the smooth blocks, according to the current embedding bit, either image inpainting or block search order coding (BSOC) is used to embed secret data and compress blocks simultaneously with maintaining acceptable compression performance. According to the image compression codes that are provided as output, image decompression and secret bits extraction procedures can be conducted simultaneously. Experimental results indicate that outstanding compression bit rate can be achieved by the proposed JDHC scheme with satisfactory visual quality and hiding capacity.Item type:Item, Reversible data hiding for VQ-compressed images based on search-order coding and state-codebook mapping(2015-02-01) ;Lin, Chia-Chen ;Liu, Xiao-Long ;Yuan, Shyan-Ming ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceIn the field of digital multimedia, numerous researchers have exploited data hiding for providing secure communications. Because most multimedia is compressed in advance to save storage space and transmission time, this paper presents a reversible data-hiding scheme for vector quantization (VQ)-compressed images. In the proposed scheme, search-order coding (SOC) is first employed to reduce the size of the VQ index table. For image blocks that cannot be processed by SOC, a technique called state-codebook mapping (SCM) is used to map the blocks to the corresponding indices in their state-codebooks, which are generated by a set of neighborhood indices. After SOC and SCM, the size of the output code stream is reduced, and a large amount of space is available for embedding sensitive data. Performance comparisons with similar recent studies are presented for demonstrating the superiority of the proposed scheme. The experimental results indicated that the proposed scheme can achieve a high embedding capacity and a high compression bit rate. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
