Item type:Item, Annealing effect on the optical response and interdiffusion of n-ZnO/p-Si, (111) heterojunction grown by atomic layer deposition(2010-11-01) ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Cheng, Ching-Yuan ;Lin, Chih-MingLee, Hsin-YiOptical and structural properties of n-ZnO films grown on a p-Si (111) substrate by atomic layer deposition were observed using in situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction during annealing. The photoluminescence showed a complicated photon response with increasing annealing temperature. In situ x-ray diffraction indicated the growth of grains for an annealing temperature from 500 to 800 degrees C with the orientation altering from polycrystalline to preferential (200). Measurements with a time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometer indicated that the outgassing of hydrogen atoms and ZnO/Si interdiffusion behavior were correlated with the intensity and position of emissions in photoluminescence spectra. The room temperature PL showed bright -white -light emission for the undoped ZnO-NPs grown at 600 degrees C, suggesting the close relation between the optical characteristic and "the growth conditions being, carried out for, obtaining the present ZnO-NPs. The reflectivity of the as -grown ZnO-NPs array was about, similar to 29% with the wavelength of the incident light ranging from 200 to 1800 nm. Nevertheless, the reflectance reduced significantly to less than 9.9% when a layer of gold (Au) was deposited on ZnO=NPg by sputtering for 5 min, corresponding to more than 65% reduction in Au -coated ZnQ-NPs (Au/ZnO-NPs). Moreover, the angle -resolved reflectance measurement's on the present Au/ZnO-NPs array show an omnidirectional light -trapping characteristic. These remarkable characteristics, broadband and omnidirectional light -trapping -of Ati/ZnO-NPs, are attributed to the extended effective optical path of the incident light due to subwavelength scattering resulting, from the presence of Au nanoparticics.Item type:Item, Demographics of Pediatric OHCA Survivors With Postdischarge Diseases: A National Population-Based Follow-Up Study(2020-01-24) ;Lee, Tsung-Han ;Juan, I-Cheng ;Hsu, Hsiu-Ying ;Chen, Wen-LiangHuang, Cheng-ChiehBackground: Postdischarge diseases (PDDs) have been reported for adult survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). However, the detailed demographics of pediatric OHCA survivors with PDDs are not well-documented, and information regarding functional survivors is particularly limited. We aimed to report detailed information on the PDDs of survivors of traumatic and non-traumatic pediatric OHCA using a national healthcare database. Methods: We retrospectively obtained data from the Taiwan government healthcare database (2011-2015). Information on the demographics of traumatic and non-traumatic pediatric OHCA survivors (<20 years) was obtained and reported. The patients who survived to discharge (survivors) and those classified as functional survivors were followed up for 1 year for the analysis of newly diagnosed PDDs. The time from discharge to PDD diagnosis was also reported. Results: A total of 2,178 non-traumatic and 288 traumatic OHCA pediatric cases were included. Among the non-traumatic OHCA survivors (n = 374, survival rate = 17.2%), respiratory tract (n = 270, 72.2%), gastrointestinal (n = 187, 50.0%), and neurological diseases (n = 167, 49.1%) were the three most common PDD categories, and in these three categories, the majority of PDDs were atypical/influenza pneumonia, non-infective acute gastroenteritis, and generalized/status epilepsy, respectively. Among the traumatic OHCA survivors (n = 21, survival rate = 7.3%), respiratory tract diseases (n = 17, 81.0%) were the most common, followed by skin or soft tissue (n = 14, 66.7%) diseases. Most functional survivors still suffered from neurological and respiratory tract diseases. Most PDDs, except for skin or soft tissue diseases, were newly diagnosed within the first 3 months after discharge. Conclusions: Respiratory tract (pneumonia), neurological (epilepsy), and skin or soft tissue (dermatitis) diseases were very common among both non-traumatic and traumatic OHCA survivors. More importantly, most PDDs, except for skin or soft tissue diseases, were newly diagnosed within the first 3 months after discharge.Item type:Item, Deviatoric deformation kinetics in high entropy alloy under hydrostatic compression(2019-07-05) ;Huang, E-Wen ;Lin, Chih-Ming ;Juang, Jenh-Yih ;Chang, Yao-JenChang, Yuan-WeiAn equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy under hydrostatic compression is investigated using insitu angular-dispersive X-ray diffraction to explore the polymorphism in high entropy alloy systems. The metallic system is of face-centered-cubic structure at ambient condition and applied hydrostatic pressures up to 20 GPa via diamond anvil cell. The angle-resolved diffraction-intensity evolutions of multiple diffraction peaks were collected simultaneously to elucidate the phase stability examinations. The phase transformation from face-centered-cubic to hexagonal-close-packed structure was evidently observed in CoCrFeMnNi alloy accompanied by a deviatoric strain subjected to the hydrostatic compression. We found lattice-asymmetric crossover before and after the phase transformation subjected to hydrostatic compression surroundings. Deviatoric strain triggers fcc-hcp phase transformation as local heterogeneity-driven lattice distortion is significant for CoCrFeMnNi alloy. (c) 2019 The Authors. In particular, we explored the effects of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) films (thickness 4-100 nm) deposited on ZnO-NWs using an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method on the optoelectronic properties. The results show that the sheet resistance of net-like ZnO-NW structures can be significantly improved, specifically to become similar to 1/1000 of the sheet resistance of the as-grown ZnO-NWs, attaining less than 10 Omega Sq(-1). The emission current density measured at the maximum field was roughly quadrupled relative to that of the as-grown ZnO-NWs. The data of the enhanced field-emission characteristics show that, with the ALD system, the AZO films of small resistance are readily coated on a structure with a high aspect ratio and the coating radius is controlled relative to the turn-on voltage and current density. The ultrathin AZO film from a one-monolayer coating process also significantly improved emission properties through modification of the effective work function at the AZO/ZnO-NW surface.Item type:Item, Enhanced field emission characteristics in metal-coated Si-nanocones(2013) ;Chang, Yuan-Ming ;Kao, Pin-Hsu ;Tai, Hung-Ming ;Wang, Hau-WeiLin, Chih-MingMetallic gold (Au) and platinum (Pt) thin films were deposited on silicon nanocones (Si-NCs) by sputtering to elucidate the effects of work function and conductivities on the field electron emission characteristics of surface-modified Si-NCs. The results showed that for Pt/Si-NCs and Au/Si-NCs, although the turn-on field defined at a corresponding current density of 10 mu A cm(-2) only improved from 4.20 V mu m(-1) for bare Si-NCs to 3.65 and 2.90 V mu m(-1), respectively, the emission current density measured at 5.00 V mu m(-1) was enhanced by orders of magnitude, reaching 1.82 mA cm(-2) for Au/Si-NCs. Compared to those obtained from various surface-modified Si-nanostructures, such as ZnO/Si-nanopillars and ferroelectrics/Si-nanotips, the current results represent an interesting alternative route for producing surface-modified Si-NCs that might be useful for optical and electronic applications.Item type:Item, Enhanced Free Exciton and Direct Band-Edge Emissions at Room Temperature in Ultrathin ZnO Films Grown on Si Nanopillars by Atomic Layer Deposition(2011-11-01) ;Chang, Yuan-Ming ;Shieh, Jiann ;Chu, Pei-Yuan ;Lee, Hsin-YiLin, Chih-MingRoom-temperature ultraviolet (UV) luminescence was investigated for the atomic layer deposited ZnO films grown on silicon nanopillars (Si-NPs) fabricated by self-masking dry etching in hydrogen-containing plasma. For films deposited at 200 degrees C, an intensive UV emission corresponding to free-exciton recombination (similar to 3.31 eV) was observed with a nearly complete suppression of the defect-associated broad visible range emission peak. On the other hand, for ZnO films grown at 25 degrees C, albeit the appearance of the defect-associated visible emission, the UV emission peak was observed to shift by similar to 60 meV to near the direct band edge (3.37 eV) recombination emission. The high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) showed that the ZnO films obtained at 25 degrees C were consisting of ZnO nanocrystals with a mean radius of 2 nm embedded in a largely amorphous matrix. Because the Bohr radius of free-exictons in bulk ZnO is similar to 2.3 nm, the size confinement effect may have occurred and resulted in the observed direct band edge electron-hole recombination. Additionally, the results also demonstrate order of magnitude enhancement in emission efficiency for the ZnO/Si-NP structure, as compared to that of ZnO directly deposited on Si substrate under the same conditions.Item type:Item, Enhanced visible photoluminescence from ultrathin ZnO films grown on Si-nanowires by atomic layer deposition(2010-09-24) ;Chang, Yuan-Ming ;Jian, Sheng-Rui ;Lee, Hsin-Yi ;Lin, Chih-MingJuang, Jenh-YihBright room temperature visible emission is obtained in heterostructures consisting of similar to 3.5 nm thick ZnO ultrathin films grown on Si-nanowires produced by means of self-masking dry etching in hydrogen-containing plasma. The ZnO films were deposited on Si-nanowires by using atomic layer deposition (ALD) under an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C. The orders of magnitude enhancement in the intensity of the room temperature photoluminescence peaked around 560 nm in the present ZnO/Si-nanowire heterostructures is presumably due to the high aspect (surface/volume) ratio inherent to the Si-nanowires, which has, in turn, allowed considerably more ZnO material to be grown on the template and led to markedly more efficient visible emission. Moreover, the ordered nanowire structure also features an extremely low reflectance (similar to 0.15%) at 325 nm, which may further enhance the efficiency of emission by effectively trapping the excitation light.Item type:Item, Epitaxial Growth of m-Plane ZnO Thin Films on (10(1)over-bar0) Sapphire Substrate by Atomic Layer Deposition with Interrupted Flow(2010-04-01) ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Lee, Hsin-Yi ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Lin, Chih-Ming材料科學與工程學系Nonpolar ZnO films were grown epitaxially on (10 (1) over bar0) sapphire substrates at 200 degrees C by atomic layer deposition with interrupted flow. The latter method improved the crystalline quality of ZnO films, transformed the structure from polycrystalline to epitaxial, and enhanced the optical properties of near-band-edge emission. The interfacial structure shows multiple domain phases along sapphire (020) and the disappearance of a minor phase near the surface. As determined by X-ray diffraction, the epitaxial relation between ZnO and sapphire follows [002](ZnO)vertical bar vertical bar[020](sapphire) and [020](ZnO)vertical bar vertical bar[006](sapphire). The photoluminescence intensity increased with increasing crystalline quality and thickness of ZnO films.Item type:Item, Epitaxial growth of ZnO films at extremely low temperature by atomic layer deposition with interrupted flow(2010-04-15) ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Lee, Hsin-Yi ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Lin, Chih-Ming材料科學與工程學系Thin crystalline films of zinc oxide (ZnO) of high quality have been grown epitaxially on a (0 0 0 1) c-plane of a sapphire substrate with atomic layer deposition (ALD) at extra-low temperature. With diethylzinc (DEZn) and deionized water as precursors in combination with interrupted flow, we obtained ZnO thin films with an optimal growth window in a range 25-160 degrees C, so effectively lowering the growth temperature by about 120 degrees C relative to the conventional method involving a continuous-flow. We characterized the microstructure of these films with X-ray reflectivity and high-resolution X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. The XRD results indicate that the stock time might extend the reaction of DEZn and water through an increased duration. This low temperature for growth results in increased crystalline quality and reduced the non-radiative recombination process to enhance the optical properties of ZnO films. (c) 2009 Elsevier B.V. The obtained ZnO/Si-NB core-shell nanostructures consist of similar to 30 nm thick ZnO films grown on Si frustums produced by means of dry etching masked by the self-assembled silver nanodots created by single-step sputtering. The ZnO films were deposited using atomic layer deposition under an ambient temperature of 200 degrees C. The photoluminescence (PL) measurements on these ZnO/Si-NB core-shell nanostructures showed that the visible range emission was almost completely absent and only the ultraviolet emission (3.28 eV peak) resulting from the free excitons was observed, indicating that the films indeed have high crystalline quality. Moreover, a dramatic improvement of the field emission performance was observed for ZnO/Si-NB core-shell nanostructures as compared to the bare Si frustum arrays. The detailed analyses on the field enhancement factor (beta value) based on the Fowler-Nordheim field emission model indicate that the effective work function of the ZnO/Si-NB core-shell nanostructures might be significantly different from that of either ZnO or Si.Item type:Item, Fabrication of epitaxial ZnO films by atomic-layer deposition with interrupted flow(2009-12-31) ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Lin, Chih-Ming ;Lee, Hsin-Yi材料科學與工程學系We formed epitaxial ZnO thin films on a (0001) c-plane sapphire substrate through deposition of atomic layers (ALD) at 25-160 degrees C using diethylzinc (DEZn) and deionized water as precursors in combination with interrupted flow. High-resolution X-ray diffraction measurements were employed to characterize the microstructure of these films. With interrupted flow, we obtained ZnO thin films with an optimal growth window in a range of 40-160 degrees C, effectively decreasing the growth temperature by about 120 degrees C relative to a conventional method involving continuous flow. X-ray reflectivity measurements showed that the rate of growth increased also between 20 degrees C and 120 degrees C. The XRD results indicate that the stock time might extend the reaction of DEZn and water through an increased duration. All results show that a low temperature for growth improves the crystalline quality and is consistent with thermodynamically blocked self-compensation. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. These nano-architectured CuO electrodes were processed through co-deposition of a Ni-Cu layer on Ni foam, selective etching of Cu from the Ni-Cu film (leaving tentacle-like nanoporous Ni), and anodic deposition of CuO nanoribbons (NRs) on the tentacle-like nanoporous Ni/Ni foam substrate. Because of its unique nano-architecture, the prepared CuO nanoribbon-on-Ni-nanoporous/Ni foam (CNRNP) electrode shows exceptional performance of energy storage relative to a conventional version of the electrode. The CNRNP electrode has also a superior kinetic performance relative to CuO nanoflake-on-Ni foam (CNFNF) and flake-like CuO (FLC) electrodes. Besides its excellent cyclic stability, an exceptionally large specific capacitance of 880 and 800 F g(-1) (deducting the substrate capacitance from the total) for the CNRNP electrode is obtained at scan rates of 10 and 200 mV s(-1), respectively. The excellent pseudocapacitive characteristics of CNRNP electrodes associated with the variation of the Cu oxidation state during charge and discharge cycles were elucidated with in situ X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra.Item type:Item, Field Emission in Vertically Aligned ZnO/Si-Nanopillars with Ultra Low Turn-On Field(2012-03-01) ;Chang, Yuan-Ming ;Liu, Mao-Chen ;Kao, Pin-Hsu ;Lin, Chih-MingLee, Hsin-YiAn effective method of fabricating vertically aligned silicon nanopillars (Si-NPs) was realized by using the self-assembled silver (Ag) nanodots as natural metal-nanomask during dry etching process. The obtained Si-NPs were preferentially aligned along the c-axis direction. Ultrathin ZnO films (similar to 9 nm) were subsequently deposited on the Si-NPs by atomic layer deposition (ALD) to enhance the field emission property. The average diameter of the ZnO/Si-NPs is in the order of tens of nanometers, which enables efficient field emission and gives rise to marked improvement in the field enhancement factor, beta. The turn-on field defined by the 10 mu A/cm(2) current density criterion is similar to 0.74 V/mu m with an estimated beta approximate to 1.33x10(4). The low turn-on field and marked enhancement in beta were attributed to the small radius of curvature, high aspect ratio, and perhaps more importantly, proper density distribution of the ZnO/Si-NPs.Item type:Item, Field Emission Properties of Gold Nanoparticle-Decorated ZnO Nanopillars(2012-12-01) ;Chang, Yuan-Ming ;Lin, Man-Ling ;Lai, Tung-Yen ;Lee, Hsin-YiLin, Chih-MingThe structural and optoelectronic properties of ZnO nanopillars (ZnO-NPs) grown on Si substrates by the vapor transport deposition method were investigated. In particular, by varying the deposition duration and hence the morphology of the vertically aligned ZnO-NPs, the resultant field emission characteristics were systematically compared. In addition to identifying the advantageous field emission properties exhibited in the pencil-like ZnO-NPs, we observed that by adhering Au nanoparticles on the surface of the ZnO-NPs the turn-on field and the maximum current density can be drastically improved from 3.15 V/mu m and 0.44 mA/cm(2) at 5 V/mu m for the best ZnO-NPs to 2.65 V/mu m and 2.11 mA/cm(2) at 5 V/mu m for Au/ZnO-NPs, respectively. The enhancement of field emission characteristics that resulted from Au-nanoparticle decoration is discussed on the basis of charge-transfer-induced band structure modifications.Item type:Item, First-ever ischemic stroke in elderly patients: predictors of functional outcome following carotid artery stenting(2016-01-01) ;Lin, Chih-Ming ;Chang, Yu-Jun ;Liu, Chi-Kuang ;Yu, Cheng-ShengLu, Henry Horng-ShingAge is an important risk factor for stroke, and carotid artery stenosis is the primary cause of first-ever ischemic stroke. Timely intervention with stenting procedures can effectively prevent secondary stroke; however, the impact of stenting on various periprocedural physical functionalities has never been thoroughly investigated. The primary aim of this study was to investigate whether prestenting characteristics were associated with long-term functional outcomes in patients presenting with first-ever ischemic stroke. The secondary aim was to investigate whether patient age was an important factor in outcomes following stenting, measured by the modified Rankin scale (mRS). In total, 144 consecutive patients with first-ever ischemic stroke who underwent carotid artery stenting from January 2010 to November 2014 were included. Clinical data were obtained by review of medical records. The Barthel index (BI) and mRS were used to assess disability before stenting and at 12-month follow-up. In total, 72/144 patients showed improvement (mRS[+]), 71 showed stationary and one showed deterioration in condition (mRS[-]). The prestenting parameters, ratio of cerebral blood volume (1.41 vs 1.2 for mRS[-] vs mRS[+]), BI ( 75 vs 85), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP 5.0 vs 3.99), differed significantly between the two outcome groups (P<0.05). The internal carotid artery/common carotid artery ratio (P=0.011), BI (P=0.019), ipsilateral internal carotid artery resistance index (P=0.003), and HbA1c (P=0.039) were all factors significantly associated with patient age group. There was no significant association between age and poststenting outcome measured by mRS with 57% of patients in the >= 75 years age group showing mRS(-) and 43% showing mRS(+) (P=0.371). Our findings indicate that in our elderly patient series, carotid artery stenting may benefit a significant proportion of carotid stenotic patients regardless of age. Ratio of cerebral blood volume, BI, and admission hsCRP could serve as important predictors of mRS improvement and may facilitate differentiation of patients at baseline.Item type:Item, Growth of high-quality epitaxial ZnO films on (10-10) sapphire by atomic layer deposition with flow-rate interruption method(2013-09-01) ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Lee, Hsin-Yi ;Lin, Chih-MingChen, San-YuanA novel process in an atomic layer deposition system with "flow-rate interruption" (FRI) was developed to obtain epitaxial ZnO films of high quality. The m-plane ZnO thin films were grown on m-plane sapphire substrates by atomic layer deposition with FRI or a conventional continuous-flow method at the temperature in the range of 25-260 degrees C; 200 degrees C appeared optimal. Measurements of X-ray reflectivity indicated that the thickness of ZnO films with FRI is almost twice than that grown with the continuous-flow method. The structural, optical and electrical properties were investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence and Hall measurements. The diffraction results indicated that the interrupted flow might extend the reaction of diethylzinc and water through an increased duration to improve the crystallographic quality of the films. According to the results from XRD at high resolution, to substantiate the epitaxial relation between the thin film and the substrate, an off-normal azimuthal scan along ZnO (201) demonstrated two-fold symmetry that indicated the ZnO films to be in epitaxial growth on sapphire. The photoluminescence results showed a strongly enhanced near-band-edge emission of an FRI sample, and the donor-bond exciton appearing in films also indicated superior crystalline qualities. The Hall mobility of the FRI method was up to 64.7 cm(2) V-1 s(-1). The FRI method evidently improved the structural, optical and electrical properties of the ZnO films with small consumption of precursors. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. By adopting an in-situ doping growth scheme the critical length effect associated with adjacent Al2O3 layers commonly encountered in previous ALD growth schemes was avoided and effective Al-doping was achieved with the growth temperature ranging from 100 degrees C to 300 degrees C. Experimental results showed that, in general, increasing the growth temperature would result in much improved film crystallinity and carrier mobility, with the average transmittance in the visible wavelength range being exceeding 95% in all cases. In particular, for AZO films grown at 300 degrees C, an unprecedented mobility of 136 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) was obtained, comparing to the typical values of 50-60 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) reported previously. The resistivity of these 300 degrees C films (rho approximate to 6 x 10(-4) Omega-cm), nevertheless, is slightly higher than that of some highly-doped ZnO (rho approximate to 2 -4 x 10(-4) Omega-cm) prepared by sputtering methods. The secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) analyses revealed that hydrogen incorporation is the key in reducing the charge trap density and, hence, resulting in much enhanced carrier mobility. The present results promise a keen competitiveness of AZO with the indium tin oxide (ITO) film for thin-film-transistor (TFT) as well as in photovoltaic device applications. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. However, the midterm outcome for patients undergoing this procedure varies considerably with baseline characteristics. To determine the impact of baseline characteristics on outcomes following carotid artery stenting, data from 107 eligible patients with a first episode of ischemic stroke were collected by retrospective chart review. A modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to divide patients into two baseline groups, mRS <= 2 and mRS >2. A three-step decision-tree statistical analysis was conducted. After weighting the decision-tree parameters, the following impact hierarchy was obtained: admission low-density lipoprotein, gouty arthritis, chronic kidney disease, ipsilateral common carotid artery resistance index, contralateral ophthalmic artery resistance index, sex, and dyslipidemia. The finite-state machine model demonstrated that, in patients with baseline mRS <= 2, 46% had an improved mRS score at follow-up, whereas 54% had a stable mRS score. In patients with baseline mRS > 2, a stable mRS score was observed in 75%, improved score in 23%, and a poorer score in 2%. Admission low-density lipoprotein was the strongest predictive factor influencing poststenting outcome. In addition, our study provides further evidence that carotid artery stenting can be of benefit in first-time ischemic stroke patients with baseline mRS scores > 2.Item type:Item, In situ Al-doped ZnO films by atomic layer deposition with an interrupted flow(2015-09-01) ;Huang, Jheng-Ming ;Ku, Ching-Shun ;Lin, Chih-Ming ;Chen, San-YuanLee, Hsin-YiIn situ aluminum-doped ZnO (AZO) films were grown on glass substrates by atomic layer deposition (AID) with an interrupted flow at temperatures in range 200-280 degrees C; the optimal temperature, 260 degrees C, depended on the electrical properties. To assess the effect of the ratio of pulses of diethylzinc (DEZn) and trimethylaluminium (TMA) on the structural, optical and electrical properties, we grew AZO films with various pulse ratios of DEZn:TMA in a range from 3:1 to 10:1 at 260 degrees C. These properties and the content of Al were investigated with X-ray diffraction, X-ray reflectivity (XRR), a high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), a secondary-ion mass spectrometer (SIMS), transmission spectra, Hall measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). The electrical resistivity was least, 5.7 x 10(-4) Omega cm, for ALD-AZO films with pulse ratio 6:1; the carrier mobility was 8.80 cm(2) V-1 s(-1) and optical transmittance up to 94%. The epitaxial AZO films grown in situ also on m-plane sapphire exhibited the two-fold symmetry of ZnO (110) in the orthorhombic crystal system. All results show that a novel in situ doping method with an interrupted flow controls the Al content of AZO films more easily, and is more usefully applicable for a structure with a large aspect ratio for an advanced photoelectric device.
