Item type:Item, A fast H.264-based picture-in-picture (PIP) transcoder(2004) ;Li, CH ;Lin, H ;Wang, CN ;Chiang, T電子工程學系及電子研究所The paper presents a novel and fast transcoding scheme with PIP (Picture-in-Picture) functionality based on H.264/AVC standard. We seamlessly achieve significant speedup and maintain identical video quality for the composite video content using two H.264 bitstreams. The proposed Partial Re-Encoding transcoder (PRET) method based on the intra-prediction refinement, inter-prediction refinement and rate-distortion optimization has sped up by 8 times for with rate-distortion (R-D) based optimization. In addition, the performance of the PRET is better than that of R-D re-encoding algorithm.Item type:Item, Development and implementation of a semi-adaptive H-infinity active control algorithm for duct noise(1999-01-01) ;Bai, MR ;Lin, H ;Lin, Z ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringA hybrid active noise control (ANC) scheme for suppressing duct noise based on the H-infinity control synthesis is proposed. The controllers are designed in terms of performance, and robustness using a general framework of the H-infinity robust control theory. In addition to the fixed controller, the system is further enhanced by introducing an adaptive compensator based on the least-mean-square (LMS) algorithm. Youla parameterization is employed in designing the adaptive compensator so that the resulting system is stable. Experimental investigations demonstrate that the proposed methods are effective in suppressing broadband random noise in finite-length duct.Item type:Item, Orbital polarization of LaSrMnO4 studied by soft X-ray linear dichroism(2004-07-01) ;Wu, WB ;Huang, DJ ;Guo, GY ;Lin, HHou, TYWith polarization-dependent soft X-ray absorption, we determined the orbital character of occupied and the lowest unoccupied e, orbitals of prototype single-layered perovskite LaSrMnO4, Our measurements indicate that LaSrMnO4 exhibits strong orbital polarization in the e, states of Mn3+ sites, leading us to conclude that LaSrMnO4 has a "ferro-orbital" ordering of 3z(2)-r(2). We found that linear dichroism in soft X-ray absorption is an effective experimental method to identify the nature of orbital ordering in transition-metal oxides such as manganites.
