Item type:Item, 3DPAC Video Codec Transmission over Internet with QoS Provision(2000) ;Wen, KA ;Chiou, CH ;Chen, AY ;Lin, CHLin, JLIn this work, a VOD-like network application especially for wireless LAN and low bit rate Internet transmission. With the derivation of the software platform, Three-dimensional Polynomial Approximation Coding (3DPAC) video compression algorithm is employed and some TCP/IP network operation is driven. A simple experimental video transmission platform over TCP/IP is constructed to investigate the features for guarantee of quality of service development of this video compression and transmission system, and two excellent features, fidelity and agility of 3DPAC for QoS development are discovered.Item type:Item, Activation of the calcineurin-nuclear factor of activated T-cell signal transduction pathway in atrial fibrillation(2003-10-28) ;Lai, LP ;Lin, CC ;Lin, JL ;Lin, CS生物科技學系Item type:Item, Activation of the calcineurin-nuclear factor of activated T-cell signal transduction pathway in atrial fibrillation(2004-12-01) ;Lin, CC ;Lin, JL ;Lin, CS ;Tsai, MCSu, MJStudy objectives: The calcineurin-nuclear factor of activated T-cell (NFAT) signal transduction pathway regulates the expression of a plethora of genes in the myocardium. Cytosolic calcium overloading occurs in atrial fibrillation (AF), and this fulfills the condition needed for activation of this pathway. We therefore investigated the NFAT pathway in atrial tissue in a porcine model of AF. Methods and results: AF was induced in eight adult pigs by rapid atrial pacing. Investigations on the calcineurin and NFAT pathway were performed on transmural left atrial tissue obtained 6 weeks after implantation of the pacemaker (pacing for 4 weeks, and AF without pacing for 2 weeks). In the AF group, the left atrial dimension increased significantly (26 4 mm vs 31 4 mm respectively, p < 0.05 [mean +/- SD]) Calcineurin enzyme activity increased significantly in pigs with AF (n = 8) when compared to control pigs (n = 6) [0.143 +/- 0.034 vs 0.038 +/- 0.063 mmol PO4- released, p < 0.01]. We found that both NFAT-c3 and NFAT-c4, the downstream effectors of calcineurin, increased significantly in the nuclei in AF tissue using immunoblotting. Translocation of NFAT-c3 and NFAT-c4 into the nuclei was also demonstrated in AF tissue microsections using immunohistochemistry. The electrophoresis mobility shift assay further demonstrated that nuclear extracts from AF tissue had a significantly larger binding capacity for NFAT-specific oligonucleotide probes. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that calcineurin activity was increased in AF with subsequent NFAT-c3 and NFAT-c4 translocation into the nucleus. Activation of this signal transduction pathway may play an important role in the pathogenesis of AF.Item type:Item, Correlation and the time interval in multiple regression models(2005-04-16) ;Jea, R ;Lin, JL ;Su, CT ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementIn this paper we investigate the time interval effect of multiple regression models in which some of the variables are additive and some are multiplicative. The effect on the partial regression and correlation coefficients is influenced by the selected time interval. We find that the partial regression and correlation coefficients between two additive variables approach one-period values as n increases. When one of the variables is multiplicative, they will approach zero in the limit. We also show that the decreasing speed of the n-period correlation coefficients between both multiplicative variables is faster than others, except that a one-period correlation has a higher positive value. The results of this paper can be widely applied in various fields where regression or correlation analyses are employed. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. From the HRS results, it is found that the configuration-locked trans-triene bridge enhances the beta values of the chromophores studied, The beta-enhancement is more pronounced when the electron acceptor CHC(CN)(2) in the chromophores is replaced with C-2(CN)(3). After combining the spatial and temporal domain, the video data is organized in a cube form, which has the features of processing parallelism and great compression ratio. Such a very low bit-rate video codec is able to support the wireless data transmission with a bit rate lower than 9.6 kbits/s, The system architecture will be presented and an experimental demonstration is also shown. For a video sequence of 176 x 144 frame size, PSNR up to 35 dB maybe obtained under 6.5 kbits/s transmission rate.Item type:Item, Three-dimensional regression polynomial coding for video transmission(1998) ;Lan, YJ ;Chen, AY ;Lin, JL ;Wen, KA電子工程學系及電子研究所Video processing always needs excessive computation which may cause large computing time and thus demands for heavy computing power, it also needs large storage resources and high bandwidth communication channel. Hence, the major objective of video signal processing is to reduce the amount of data computation and use the limited resource bandwidth to handle it. Regression Polynomial Coding (RPC) is a new compression method based on polynomial coefficients which shapes out the waveform of the block. The computation mechanism employed greatly reduce the computation with serial but not parallel processing, and it is proved that RPC is effective and suitable in low bit rate applications in the environment with limited bandwidth. With the aid of variable length coding to gain more compression, RPC would be a great technique for wireless communications.Item type:Item, Time aggregation effect on the correlation coefficient: added-systematically sampled framework(2005-11-01) ;Jea, R ;Su, CT ;Lin, JL ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityThe aggregation of financial and economic time series occurs in a number of ways. Temporal aggregation or systematic sampling is the commonly used approach. In this paper, we investigate the time interval effect of multiple regression models in which the variables are additive or systematically sampled. The correlation coefficient changes with the selected time interval when one is additive and the other is systematically sampled. It is shown that the squared correlation coefficient decreases monotonically as the differencing interval increases, approaching zero in the limit. When two random variables are both added or systematically sampled, the correlation coefficient is invariant with time and equal to the one-period values. We find that the partial regression and correlation coefficients between two additive or systematically sampled variables approach one-period values as n increases. When one of the variables is systematically sampled, they will approach zero in the limit. The time interval for the association analyses between variables is not selected arbitrarily or the statistical results are likely affected.
