Item type:Item, Characteristics of trace metals in traffic-derived particles in Hsuehshan Tunnel, Taiwan: size distribution, potential source, and fingerprinting metal ratio(2015-01-01) ;Lin, Y. -C. ;Tsai, C. -J. ;Wu, Y. -C. ;Zhang, R.Chi, K. -H.Traffic emissions are a significant source of airborne particulate matter (PM) in ambient environments. These emissions contain an abundance of toxic metals and thus pose adverse effects on human health. Size-fractionated aerosol samples were collected from May to September 2013 by using micro-orifice uniform deposited impactors (MOUDIs). Sample collection was conducted simultaneously at the inlet and outlet sites of Hsuehshan Tunnel in northern Taiwan, which is the second-longest freeway tunnel (12.9 km) in Asia. This endeavor aims to characterize the chemical constituents and size distributions, as well as fingerprinting ratios of particulate metals emitted by vehicle fleets. A total of 36 metals in size-resolved aerosols were determined through inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Three major groups - namely, tailpipe emissions (Zn, Pb, and V in fine mode), wear debris (Cu, Cd, Fe, Ga, Mn, Mo, Sb, and Sn), and resuspended dust (Ca, Mg, K, and Rb) - of airborne PM metals were categorized on the basis of the results of enrichment factor, correlation matrix, and principal component analysis. Size distributions of wear-originated metals resembled the pattern of crustal elements, which were predominated by super-micron particulates (PM1-10). By contrast, tailpipe exhaust elements such as Zn, Pb, and V were distributed mainly in submicron particles. By employing Cu as a tracer of wear abrasion, several inter-metal ratios - including Fe / Cu (14), Ba / Cu (1.05), Sb / Cu (0.16), Sn / Cu (0.10), and Ga / Cu (0.03) - served as fingerprints for wear debris. However, the data set collected in this work is useful for further studies on traffic emission inventory and human health effects of traffic-related PM.Item type:Item, Integrated micro-optical write-read head for holographic data storage(2008-01-01) ;Vieth, Udo ;Gruber, Matthias ;Hsu, K. -Y. ;Lin, S. -H.電子物理學系We discuss the micro-integration of an optical write-read head for disk-based volume holographic data storage. A particular approach based on the design principle of planar-integrated free-space optics and on photopolymer storage materials is proposed. Numerical construction parameters are calculated and initial experimental results concerning the performance of the photopolymer are presented.Item type:Item, Multiple sensors applied to monitorland subsidence in Central Taiwan(2015) ;Hung, W-C ;Wang, C. ;Hwang, C. ;Chen, Y. -A.Chiu, H. -C.During 1992-2013, pumping of groundwater caused large-scale aquifer-system compaction and land subsidence in the Choshui River Alluvial Fan (CRAF) in Taiwan. The subsidence has already endangered the operation of Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR). In this paper, we introduce the multiple sensors monitoring system to study the extent of subsidence in CRAF and its mechanism, including GPS (Global Positioning System), PSI (Persistent Scatterer Interferometry), leveling and multi-layer compaction monitoring well. These sensors complement each other in spatial and temporal resolutions.Item type:Item, QUASI-ELLIPTIC FUNCTION BANDPASS FILTER WITH UPPER STOPBAND EXTENSION AND HIGH REJECTION LEVEL USING CROSS-COUPLED STEPPEDIMPEDANCE RESONATORS(2011) ;Kuo, J. -T. ;Tang, S. -C. ;Lin, S. -H. ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesPlanar microstrip filters are designed to have a quasielliptic function passband and extended upper stopband with a rejection level of 40 or 50 dB. The design employs stepped-impedance resonators in a compact 2 x 2 cross coupled configuration. The geometric parameters of the resonators are planned to shift the third resonance as high as possible, and then the transmission zeros created by the structure are devised to suppress the second resonance, so that a wide upper stopband up to more than 4.5 times the passband frequency can be achieved. By employing the skew-symmetric input/output feeds, three transmission zeros in the frequency band of interest can be created. The leading two zeros are allocated on the both sides of the passband, generating a quasi-elliptic function response with enhanced roll-off rate in the transition bands, and the last zero incorporating with a zero created by anti-coupled-line at higher frequencies are employed to extend the rejection bandwidth. The measurement data agree very well with the simulation responses.
