Item type:Item, A cocktail approach on random access scan toward low power and high efficiency test(2005) ;Lin, SP ;Lee, CL ;Chen, JE ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsScan design, providing a good test solution to sequential circuits, suffers large data volume, long test time and high test power problem. Recently, the Random Access Scan (RAS) scheme offers a solution to alleviate the above problems [6]. In this paper, based on RAS, a cocktail scan scheme is proposed and demonstrated to improve the test efficiency significantly. The scheme adopts a two-phase approach, firstly by using a cycle random scan test with a few random seed patterns to test the DUT and secondly, by using the RAS mechanism to test the circuit. Due to employment of a revised process and several strategies, namely, Test Response Abundant, Constrained Static Compaction, and Bit Propagation Before Test Vector Dropping, it is very effective in reducing bit flipping and test data volume, consequently, the test application time and power. Experimental results show that the scheme can achieve 86% reduction in test data volume and 10 times of speedup in test application time.Item type:Item, A novel framework for multilevel routing considering routability and performance(2002) ;Lin, SP ;Chang, YW ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsWe propose in this paper a novel framework for multilevel routing considering both routability and performance. The two-stage multilevel framework consists of coarsening followed by uncoarsening. Unlike the previous multilevel routing, we integrate global routing, detailed routing, and resource estimation together at each level of the framework, leading to more accurate routing resource estimation during coarsening and thus facilitating the solution refinement during uncoarsening. Further, the exact routing information obtained at each level makes our framework more flexible in dealing with various routing objectives (such as crosstalk, power, etc). Experimental results show that our approach obtains significantly better routing solutions than previous works. For example, for a set of 11 commonly used benchmark circuits, our approach achieves 100% routing completion for all circuits while the previous multilevel routing, the three-level routing, and the hierarchical routing can complete routing for only 3, 0, 3 circuits, respectively. In particular, the number of routing layers used by our router is even smaller. We also have performed experiments on timing-driven routing. The results are also very promising.Item type:Item, A real-time multiple-vehicle detection and tracking system with prior occlusion detection and resolution(2005) ;Wu, BF ;Lin, SP ;Chen, YH ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringThe proposed multiple-vehicle detection and tracking (MVDT) system utilizes a color background to segment moving objects and exploits relations among the moving objects and existed trajectories to track vehicles. Initially, the background is extracted by classification. Then, it is regularly updated by previous moving objects to guarantee robust segmentation in luminance-change circumstance. For partial wrong converged background due to roadside parking vehicles. it will be corrected later by checking fed back trajectories to avoid false detection after the vehicles moving away. In tracking processing, the relations of distances or distances and angles are applied to determine whether to create, extend, and delete a trajectory. If occlusion detected after trajectory creation, it will be resolved by rule-based tracking reasoning. Otherwise, lane information will be used. Finally, traffic parameter calculations based on the trajectories art, listed. Moreover, for easy setup, parameter automation for the system is proposed.Item type:Item, A scan matrix design for low power scan-based test(2005) ;Lin, SP ;Lee, CL ;Chen, JE ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsFor the scan design, the circuit under test (CUT) in the test mode usually has larger switching activity than in the function mode, causing excessive power dissipation. In this paper, we propose a new Scan Matrix (SM) architecture for the scan-based design to achieve low power testing. The scan flip-flops are connected in a matrix style for test and its addressing is controlled by two ring generators during pattern scanning in. Unlike the traditional scan, for which scan-in data need to pass through a long path and many scan flip-flops switch simultaneously, the proposed approach dynamically forms a low-power scan path to reduce test energy and peak power during shift significantly. The architecture is scalable for large designs and has minimal circuit performance penalty. Experimental results show that, for some larger designs, nearly 99% power savings have been achieved.Item type:Item, Adaptive encoding scheme for test volume/time reduction in SoC scan testing(2005) ;Lin, SP ;Lee, CL ;Chen, JE ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of Electronicsapplication time. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an Adaptive Encoding scheme to reduce the test volume and test time for SoC scan test. The scheme, instead of handling test data themselves, encodes them in "packets" according to difference hits of two consecutive test patterns. A decoder machine is designed to decode the compressed data and a repeat filling mechanism from the ATE is adopted to eliminate the synchronization problem. It supports variable block size and is flexible in encoding multi-core test patterns; therefore, the proposed method is effective in SoC scan test. Experimental results show that on average the scheme achieves 73% reduction in test data and more than 16 times of speedup in test application time.Item type:Item, Corner sequence - A P-admissible floorplan representation with a worst case linear-time packing scheme(2003-08-01) ;Lin, JM ;Chang, YW ;Lin, SP ;資訊工程學系電子工程學系及電子研究所Floorplanning/placement allocates a set of modules into a chip so that no two modules overlap and some specified objective is optimized. To facilitate floorplanning/placement, we need to develop an efficient and effective representation to model the geometric relationship among modules. In this paper, we present a P-admissible representation, called corner sequence (CS), for non-slicing floorplans. CS consists of two tuples that denote the packing sequence of modules and the corners to which the modules are placed. CS is very effective and simple for implementation. Also, it supports incremental update during packing. In particular, it induces a generic worst case linear-time packing scheme that can also be applied to other representations. Experimental results show that CS achieves very promising results for a set of commonly used MCNC benchmark circuits.Item type:Item, Effect of diatomic islands on step morphological stability of a terrace edge in molecular beam epitaxy(1999-09-29) ;Lin, SP ;Hwang, CC ;Chu, HS ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringThe effect of two-dimensional diatomic-island nucleation on the linear stability of the step morphology during molecular beam epitaxy is investigated numerically via shooting methods. It is found that the effect of diatomic islands on the step morphological stability is significant. The greater the effects of diatomic islands, the more stable the step morphology. increasing capture efficiency can decrease the critical surface capillary length and shift the critical wave number toward short-wavelength regimes. The unstable region is shrunk with increasing capture efficiency. Further, increasing flux coverage and/or surface coverage can decrease the critical surface capillary length and shift the critical wave number toward short-wavelength regimes. The tetragonal films grew in a similar manner to the rhombohedral films. Both the substrate temperature (500 or 550 degrees C) and oxygen pressure (0.1 mbar, 10 Pa) required stringent control in order to deposit [00/]-textured PLZT thin films. The ferroelectric and fatigue properties were examined. The films deposited on YBa2Cu3O7-x and CeO2 coated silicon (YBCO/CeO2/Si) substrates possessed substantially lower remanent polarization than those grown on YBCO coated SrTiO3 (YBCO/STO) substrates; this is ascribed to inferior crystallinity of the PLZT/BCO/CeO2/Si films. The remanent polarization of tetragonal PLZT films was degraded insignificantly up to 10(8) polarization switching cycles, whereas that of rhombohedral PLZT films was already reduced to 80% of the initial value after 10(8) cycles. Low endurance of rhombohedral films was ascribed to the periodic stress induced when the inclined spontaneous polarization vector (P=[111]) switched. On the other hand, high endurance of tetragonal films was explained by the fact that the spontaneous polarization vector (P=[001]) lies along the film's normal such that switch cycles cause no lateral stress.Item type:Item, Influence of crystal structure on the fatigue properties of Pb1-xLax(Zr-y,Ti-z)O-3 thin films prepared by pulsed-laser deposition technique(1997-05-01) ;Lin, WJ ;Tseng, TY ;Lin, SP ;Tu, SLChang, HLead lanthanum zirconate titanate (Pb1-xLax(Zr-y,Ti-z)O-3, PLZT) films containing [00l] preferentially oriented grains were produced successfully on YBa2Cu3O7-x-coated (YBCO-coated) SrTiO3, (STO) or YBCO/CeO2-coated silicon substrates; films containing randomly oriented grains were created on platinum-coated silicon substrates. The latter possessed significantly inferior ferroelectric properties, a fact ascribed to the presence of a paraelectric phase (TiO2,) at the PLZT/platinum interface. On the other hand, the PLZT/YBCO/STO films exhibited better electrical properties than did the PLZT/YBCO/CeO2/Si films, and this phenomenon was attributed to better alignment of the grains in normal and in-plane orientations. In terms of fatigue properties, the [00l] textured films that were deposited on YBCO/CeO2/Si substrates possessed substantially superior polarization-switching-cycle endurance versus the randomly oriented films grown on Pt(Ti)/Si substrates. Moreover, the tetragonal films behaved much more satisfactorily than did the rhombohedral PLZT films. The ferroelectric parameters of tetragonal PLZT films showed no significant degradation up to 10(9) polarization switching cycles, whereas the remnant polarization and coercive force of the rhombohedral PLZT films had already degraded to 80% of their initial values after 10(8) cycles.Item type:Item, Influence of crystal structure on the fatigue properties of Pb1-xLax(Zr-y,Ti-z)O-3 thin films prepared by pulsed-laser deposition technique(1997-05-01) ;Lin, WJ ;Tseng, TY ;Lin, SP ;Tu, SLChang, HLead lanthanum zirconate titanate (Pb1-xLax(Zr-y,Ti-z)O-3, PLZT) films containing [00l] preferentially oriented grains were produced successfully on YBa2Cu3O7-x-coated (YBCO-coated) SrTiO3, (STO) or YBCO/CeO2-coated silicon substrates; films containing randomly oriented grains were created on platinum-coated silicon substrates. The non-Fourier heat conduction equation, which includes the time lag between heat flux and the temperature gradient, is used to model the conductive heat transfer in the medium. It predicts that a temperature disturbance will propagate as a wave at finite speed. The radiative heat transfer is solved using the P-3 approximation method. In addition, the MacCormack's explicit predictor-corrector scheme is used to solve the non-Fourier problem. The effects of radiation including single scattering albedo, conduction-to-radiation parameter, and optical thickness of the medium on the transient and steady state temperature distributions are investigated in detail. Analysis results indicate that the internal radiation in the medium significantly influences the wave nature. The thermal wave nature in the combined non-Fourier heat conduction with radiation is more obvious for large values of conduction-to-radiation parameter, small values of optical thickness and higher scattering medium. The results from non-Fourier-effect equation are also compared to those obtained from the Fourier equation. Non-Fourier effect becomes insignificant as either time increases or the effect of radiation increases. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. We first approximate the nonlinear concentration-dependent diffusivity asa series of third-degree polynomials by the least-squares curve-fitting techniques, and then calculate the distributions of concentration by the Galerkin method. Afterwards, the diffusion-induced stresses inside the bar are determined analytically by introducing the Goodier displacement potential and Airy stress function. It is found that the nonlinear self-induced electric fields can depress both the concentration gradient and the maximum diffusion-induced stresses apparently, and these effects are more significant at short times than at long times. The effects of donor/acceptor concentration ratio in thin lithium niobate crystal plates on the photorefractive response time and the grating diffraction efficiency are presented.Item type:Item, Photorefractive Fe : LiNbO3 crystal thin plates for optical information processing(1999-07-01) ;Lin, SH ;Hsieh, ML ;Hsu, KY ;Hsieh, TCLin, SPThe effects of the donor acceptor concentration ratio in iron-doped Lithium niobate (Fe:LiNbO3) crystal plates on photorefractive response time and on grating diffraction efficiency are studied both theoretically and experimentally. The results provide a useful guide for designing photorefractive plates far optical information-processing applications. Two devices for real-time image recognition have been demonstrated: a photorefractive joint-transform correlator and a VanderLugt correlator. The former emphasizes fast response time, and the latter emphasizes high diffraction efficiency. By appropriate adjustment of the dopant concentration and the ratio of the donor acceptor levels, photorefractive Fe:LiNbO3 crystals that facilitate specific applications have been designed and fabricated. Shift-invariant image correlations have been achieved. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(99)01307-7].
