Item type:Item, A Survey on Deep Learning-Based Vehicular Communication Applications(1970-01-01) ;Lin, Chia-Hung ;Lin, Yu-Chien ;Wu, Yen-Jung ;Chung, Wei-HoLee, Ta-SungBesides the use of information transmission, vehicular communications also perform an essential role in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for exchanging critical driving information among end users, vehicles, and infrastructures. Moreover, to enhance the understanding of the local environment, increasingly more data are collected by sensors, inducing an extensive use of deep learning (DL)-based algorithms in ITS. To further promote the development of DL-based algorithms in ITS, in this paper, we present a concise introduction of DL technologies. Then, we conduct an in-depth investigation on two popular DL-based applications used in ITS, traffic flow forecasting and trajectory prediction, focusing onwhenandhowthe authors employ different DL models and training schemes in these tasks. Finally, we raise two existing problems while employing DL-based algorithms in practical ITS and further discuss certain recent advances in DL-based research to tackle these challenges. To encourage more researchers to focus on the development of DL-based algorithms in ITS for a better world, we hope this paper can be treated as an informational material for prospective researchers, which contains the essential background knowledge of DL-based ITS applications; we also hope this paper will encourage experienced researchers to counter the open challenges and achieve a technical breakthrough to ITS.Item type:Item, Geometric Approach to Passive Ranging in Underwater Localization Systems(2018-01-01) ;Lin, Yu-Chien ;Chen, Hsin-Jung ;Chung, Wei-Ho ;Lee, Ta-Sung交大名義發表The use of underwater surveillance systems is critical for effective command of maritime power. Ships or submarines equipped with active sonar systems emit sounds to obtain range or angle information. Unfortunately, security issues may occur in this situation. To meet the security considerations for obtaining location information, a passive tracking or localization technique, the bearings-only target motion analysis (BO-TMA), was developed along with a given direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. With limited resources, a passive ranging approach with only a single passive array is practical, and is considered in this paper. In this paper, we propose a new geometric approach and derive a closed-form solution, which can be implemented in BO-TMA algorithms for initiation and updating the range of targets with a single passive sensor. Finally, analysis and simulation results showed that the proposed scheme can achieve good performance and is effective for a short operation time, such that an observer can move with more flexibility in combat scenarios. The proposed algorithm can further be performed by trackers to generate the initiation information and hence reduce the estimation bias.Item type:Item, Interference avoidance and cancellation in automotive OFDM radar networks(1970-01-01) ;Lin, Yu-Chien ;Lee, Ta-Sung ;Lin, Chia-Hung ;交大名義發表電信工程研究所With increasing use of millimeter-wave radars in driving safety applications, interference between vehicles becomes a significant issue. Moreover, oscillator imperfections and relative velocity effects induce inter-carrier interference (ICI) owing to frequency offset, leading to degradation of target detection. In this paper, time-frequency resources are divided into several orthogonal logical channels according to the time-frequency division (TFD) scheme. We propose a two-stage interference mitigation method. First, an interference avoidance technique is designed for each piece of radar equipment (RE) to select logical channels with the least ICI. Then, each RE reconstructs and cancels interference according to estimated parameters based on the proposed interference cancellation technique. Computer simulations reveal that the proposed interference avoidance technique can approximately achieve the performance of ground truth, especially when the number of interferers is small. In addition, noise enhancement effects can be effectively mitigated through the proposed cancellation technique.Item type:Item, Low-Complexity High-Resolution Parameter Estimation for Automotive MIMO Radars(2020-01-01) ;Lin, Yu-Chien ;Lee, Ta-Sung ;Pan, Yun-Han ;Lin, Kuan-Hen交大名義發表In this paper, we propose a parameter estimation method for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) automotive radars that consists of two stages. The first stage is a low-complexity three-dimensional (3D) constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection technique that exploits spatial filtering to extend radar coverage, and it performs low-complexity peak detection. The second stage is an ESPRIT-based direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation technique that adopts time & x2013;frequency resource division to generate high-quality snapshots and it performs DOA estimation of targets without the knowledge of the target number. Computer simulations reveal that the proposed method achieves the performance of the two-dimensional ordered statistic CFAR (2D OS-CFAR) while having much lower computational complexity, and it offers the higher resolution DOA estimation compared to the conventional MIMO radars.Item type:Item, Non-Cooperative Interference Avoidance in Automotive OFDM Radars(2019-01-01) ;Lin, Yu-Chien ;Chung, Wei-Ho ;Lee, Ta-Sung ;Pan, Yun-Han交大名義發表The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) emphasizes that radars have become a critical technology. With the consideration of application scenarios and cost, increasing importance has been attributed to millimeter Wave (mmWave) radars. Because of the unique features of simultaneous detection and communication, Orthogonal Frequency-Division Modulation (OFDM) radars have been discussed frequently in the literature. In this paper, under the architecture of an OFDM radar, we propose a novel protocol which divides different radar users (i.e., different vehicles) into different logical channels by time and frequency. Following the rules of the protocol, a non-cooperative interference avoidance logical channel selection method is also proposed to choose a logical channel with the least inter-carrier interferences (ICIs). Simulation results show that the proposed logical channel selection method can choose a nearly optimal channel in a short time with a high probability.
