The construction and simulation powers of digital media trigger all kinds of unlimited imagination. The new space of this kind may be called digital space or virtual space. This new space is between mental and physical spaces because it provides designers with not only unlimited imaginality of mental space but also live-inside perception of physical space. A new concept of space of mankind is thus generated.Item type:Item, Histidine residue at position 234 of oxidosqualene-lanosterol cyclase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae simultaneously influences cyclization, rearrangement, and deprotonation reactions(2005-07-01) ;Wu, TK ;Liu, YT ;Chang, CH ;應用化學系分子科學碩博班Institute of Molecular scienceHistidine Residue at Position 234 of Oxidosqualene-Lanosterol Cyclase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae Simultaneously Influences Cyclization, Rearrangement, and Deprotonation ReactionsItem type:Item, New tectonics: a preliminary framework involving classic and digital thinking(2006-05-01) ;Liu, YT ;Lim, CK ;建築研究所Institude of ArchitectureThe digital tectonic studies noticed the dramatic change of traditional architectural construction in association with digital technology. A more systematic framework of new tectonics combining digital and classic elements and processes is needed to explore the digital theory in the architecture field. The first step of this case-study research is to determine both the analytical factors of classic tectonics and the digital cases. The next step discusses emergent digital factors of tectonics. The third step applies the four new, factors to the tectonic processes of five digital projects by well-known architects who have actual building experience in both predigital and digital it,works. Some phenomena of digital tectonics have emerged to reveal the dynamic factors of motion, information, generation and fabrication. In a preliminary framework of new tectonics, seven classic and four digital factors form a whole and interact with each other. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. In this paper a theoretical model of restructuring shapes is presented, one that aims to recognize explicit and implicit emergent subshapes computationally and to explain cognitively some critical phenomena of designers' visual behaviors. A computing procedure using two neuron-like connectionist networks and two attentional techniques serves as the vehicle to mimic some critical empirical phenomena. By a comparison of the computational and empirical variables embedded in the subshape viewing processes, the internal behavior of the model has been further clarified, and some hypothetical viewpoints have been cross-validated.Item type:Item, Special issue: CAADRIA - Introduction(2001-03-01) ;Kvan, T ;Liu, YT ;Sasada, T ;Gu, JW交大名義發表Item type:Item, The Hsinchu experience: a computerized procedure for visual impact analysis and assessment(2001-03-01) ;Liu, YT ;Bai, RY ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsThis paper examines the procedure of visual impact analysis and assessment (VIAA) proposed by Rahman and reviews the use of computer-aided design (CAD) applications in urban projects in the real world. A preliminary computerized procedure for VIAA is proposed. An experiment was conducted in our laboratory to verify the preliminary procedure. In order to further study the revised procedure in real urban projects, it was also applied into the renew project of The Eastern Gate Plaza located in the center of Hsinchu, Taiwan from 1996 to 1998. Based on the face-to-face discussions with Hsinchu habitants, government officials, and professional designers, a final computerized procedure for VIAA is concluded. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Site-saturated mutants' construction of Saccharomyces cerevisiae oxidosqualene-lanosterol cyclase, at Trp232 exchanges against proteinogenic amino acids, and product profiles are shown. All mutants, except Lys and Arg, produced protosta-12,24-dien-3 beta-ol, lanosterol, and parkeol. Overall, Trp232 plays a catalytic role in the influence of rearrangement process and determination of deprotonation position but does not involve intervention in the cyclization steps.
