Item type:Item, Active Capacitor Voltage Balancing Control for Three-Level Flying Capacitor Boost Converter(2018-01-01) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Lien, Wei-Hsiang ;電機工程學系電控工程研究所The average-behavior circuit model of three-level flying capacitor boost converter (FCBC) is presented in this paper. The small-signal transfer functions of three-level FCBC are first obtained that are including two control signals as the input signals and including the output voltage and the capacitor voltage as the output signals. Besides, the voltage regulating controller is a proportional-integral (PI-type) controller and the voltage balancing controller is a proportional (P-type) controller. Based on the small-signal analysis of three-level FCBC, the closed-loop transfer functions can be obtained and the controller parameters can be selected as well. All the algorithms are implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip. The simulation and experimental results validate the capacitor voltage balancing capability of the proposed method.Item type:Item, Active Capacitor Voltage Balancing Control for Three-Level Flying Capacitor Boost Converter Based on Average-Behavior Circuit Model(2019-03-01) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Lien, Wei-Hsiang ;Chen, Tien-Hung電機工程學系This paper proposes an active voltage balancing control strategy for the three-level flying capacitor boost converter (FCBC). The average-behavior circuit model for the three-level FCBC is studied, and then, the relationship of control to output signals is presented to analyze the coupling effects between the capacitor voltage balancing and the output voltage regulation. In addition, classical proportional and proportional-integral controllers are used for the voltage balancing control loop and the output voltage regulating control loop, respectively. Finally, the proposed control algorithm is implemented in a commercial field programmable gate array platform. Some simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed active control strategy is able to achieve the desired effects for the steady-state and transient responses.Item type:Item, Application of Multi-Dimensional Feedback Quantized Modulation to Inverter-Fed Two Cascaded Electrodynamic Shakers(2015) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Yao, Cheng-Chiang ;電機學院College of Electrical and Computer EngineeringIn this paper, two cascaded electrodynamic shakers are supplied by the three-leg inverter. The conventional comparator-based pulse width modulation (MAI) has limited output voltage region due to the common leg. To enlarge the output voltage region and improve the inverter efficiency, the novel multi-dimensional feedback quantized modulation (MDFQM) is used. All the control algorithms are implemented in FPGA, and the results are provided to verify the proposed method. An single-current sampling strategy is proposed to measure and reconstruct the difference of average inductor currents from single current sensor. Based on the theoretical analysis, the proposed control method can restrain the interactions from voltage regulation loop and current sharing loop. In addition, the small-signal transfer functions among control signals, output voltage and current imbalances are clearly derived. Finally, a 300-W three-phase bidirectional interleaved DC-DC converter prototype is built, and the control algorithm is implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) chip. Eventually, the proposed current sharing control method and single current sensor sampling strategy is validated through some simulation and experimental results.Item type:Item, Current Sensorless Control for Dual-Boost Full-Bridge PFC Converter(2017-01-01) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Chen, Chien-Fu ;電機工程學系Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringThis paper presents a current sensorless control for dual-boost full-bridge (DBFB) converter with power factor correction (PFC) function. In this topology, the short-through problem can be avoided, and the freewheeling current flows through the independent diode rather than the body diodes of switches. Therefore, the reliability and availability can be improved. The proposed current sensorless control scheme only requires input and output voltages, and that is a simple control strategy without any current sensor. At first, the equivalent single-switch model of the dual-boost full-bridge PFC converter is analyzed and derived. In addition, the experimental control algorithm is implemented by using the DSP TMS320F28335 chip. Finally, some simulation and experimental results are given to validate the performance of the proposed current sensorless control method.Item type:Item, Current Sensorless Control for Dual-Boost Half-Bridge PFC Converter(2015) ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Chen, Wei-Cheng ;Li, Chung-Yi電機學院In this paper, the current sensorless control for dual-boost half-bridge (DBHB) converter with power factor correction (PFC) function is presented. The short-through problem can be avoided by the dual-boost structure for enhancing the reliability. It also reduces the power dissipation due to the body diodes\' reverse recovery current of switches. Furthermore, the intrinsic voltage-doubler characteristic of half-bridge structure is often used in high voltage application. The conventional multiloop control needs many voltage and current feedback signals. In order to simply the control loops and reduce the number of sensors, the feasibility of current sensorless control strategy should be evaluated. Therefore, the electrical characteristics of the proposed current sensorless control scheme are completely analyzed in this paper. At last, some simulation and experimental results are provided to demonstrate and illustrate the performance of the proposed current sensorless control.Item type:Item, Decoupled Current-Balancing Control With Single-Sensor Sampling-Current Strategy For Two-Phase Interleaved Boost-Type Converters(2016-03) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Huang, Li-Ming ;電機學院College of Electrical and Computer EngineeringFor interleaved boost-type converters, both functions of voltage regulation and current balance are important. In this paper, the decoupled current-balancing control (DCBC) with two parallel loops is proposed. At first, the small-signal transfer functions of the voltage-regulation loop and the current balancing loop to the controller output are derived. The results show that the voltage-regulation loop and the proposed current-balancing loop are nominally decoupled. That is, two PI-type controllers can be designed independently and included to implement the proposed DCBC. Additionally, the single-sensor sampling-current strategy is proposed to obtain two average inductor currents by sensing only the sum of diode currents. All the controllers are implemented in field-programmable gate array (FPGA). The provided simulation and experimental results demonstrate the proposed DCBC.Item type:Item, Decoupled Master-Slave Current Balancing Control for Three-Phase Interleaved Boost Converters(2018-05-01) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Rout, Uma Sankar ;電機工程學系電控工程研究所For three-phase interleaved boost converters (IBC), the master-slave current balancing control is often used to cooperate with the voltage regulation control, but the tuning of the current balancing controller would have effect on the voltage regulation loop. In this letter, the decoupled master-slave current balancing control is proposed, and its small-signal transfer functions show that the voltage regulation loop and the current balancing loop are decoupled. A 300 W prototype of IBC is implemented to demonstrate the proposed control method.Item type:Item, Design and Implementation of Three-Phase Current Sensorless Control for PFC Bridge Converter With Considering Voltage Drops of Power Semiconductors(2018-12-01) ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Li, Guan-Ting ;電機工程學系電控工程研究所Three-phase bridge converter is popular in ac-dc power conversion. The conventional sensor control with inner current loop and outer voltage loop is often used to control the three-phase bridge converter. Many three-phase sensorless control methods had been proposed to control the bridge converter with considering the inductance and inductor resistance. In this paper, the voltage drop of the power semiconductor is first considered in the proposed three-phase current sensorless control method. At first, the dynamic behaviors of three-phase bridge converter for power factor correction (PFC) applications are studied, and its equivalent three-switch model is developed. Based on this developed model, three-phase current sensorless control with only voltage controller is proposed. Additionally, the voltage-loop transfer function of PFC bridge converter controlled by the proposed method is modeled, and the result is helpful to obtain the controller parameter. Due to no series-connected switches and no short-through risks, the dual-boost half-bridge (DBHB) circuit is used as the PFC converter in this paper. In order to simplify the conventional two-loop control scheme and reduce the number of sensors, the behaviors of the DBHB PFC converter are studied and its equivalent single-switch model is developed. Then, the current sensorless control for the DBHB PFC converter is proposed to achieve voltage regulation and yield sinusoidal input current in phase with the input voltage without sensing any current. In addition, the proposed method is able to balance capacitor voltages naturally without adding any voltage balancing control loop. An 800-W DBHB PFCprototype is implemented to evaluate the control performance. Both simulation and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the proposed current sensorless control method.Item type:Item, Symmetrical Voltage Balancing Control for Four-level Flying Capacitor Converter Based on Phase-Shifted PWM(2019-01-01) ;Lu, Che-Yu ;Chen, Hung-Chi ;Li, Chung-Yi ;電機工程學系電控工程研究所A symmetrical voltage balancing control (SVBC) method for the four-level flying capacitor (FC) converter is addressed in this paper, which is built on phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PS-PWM). However, the PS-PWM technique is hard to maintain balanced FC voltages in practice. The proposed method balances FC voltages by using a proportional (P) controller without any complicated algorithm, also achieves the output voltage regulation. Thus, the PS-PWM technique could be significantly improved by the proposed method. In addition, the averaged state-space model and small-signal model for the four-level FC converter are analyzed in details. Some experimental results are given to illustrate the proposed method.
