Item type:Item, Demonstration of a self-injected Fabry-Perot laser for dual-wavelength tuning together with different mode-spacing(2014-06-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Chow, Chi-Wai ;Wu, Yu-Fu ;Lu, Shao-Sheng光電工程學系In this demonstration, we experimentally investigate a dual-ring fiber laser architecture to achieve dual-wavelength-tunable by utilizing the self-injected Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) mechanism. Here, two tunable bandpass filters (TBFs) are utilized in the proposed laser structure to obtain the dual-wavelength with single-longitudinal-mode (SLM). The different mode-spacing of the proposed dual-wavelength fiber laser can also be tuned between 20.8 and 1.3 nm, due to the effective gain amplification of FP-LD. Moreover, we can employ the different FP-LDs with various gain distributions to achieve wide wavelength range tuning.Item type:Item, Estimation and Prediction of Drug Therapy on the Termination of Atrial Fibrillation by Autoregressive Model With Exogenous Inputs(2013-01-01) ;Kuo, Chin-En ;Liang, Sheng-Fu ;Lu, Shao-Sheng ;Kuan, Tang-ChingLin, Chih-ShengAtrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent cardiac arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. Several therapeutical approaches have been developed to terminate the AF and the effects are evaluated by the reduction of the wavelet number after the treatments. Most of the previous studies focus on modeling and analysis of the mechanism, and the characteristic of AF. But no one discusses about the prediction of the result after the drug treatment. This paper is the first study to predict whether the drug treatment for AF is active or not. In this paper, the linear autoregressive model with exogenous inputs (ARX) that models the system output-input relationship by solving linear regression equations with least-squares method was developed and applied to estimate the effects of pharmacological therapy on AF. Recordings (224-site bipolar recordings) of plaque electrode arrays placed on the right and left atria of pigs with sustained AF induced by rapid atrial pacing were used to train and test the ARX models. The cardiac mapping data from 12 pigs treated with intravenous administration of antiarrhythmia drug, propafenone (PPF), or dl-sotalol (STL) were evaluated. The recordings of cardiac activity before the drug treatment were input to the model and the model output reported the estimated wavelet number of atria after the drug treatment. The results show that the predicting accuracy rate corresponding to the PPF and STL treatments was 100% and 92%, respectively. It is expected that the developed ARX model can be further extended to assist the clinical staffs to choose the effective treatments for the AF patients in the future.Item type:Item, Use of a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier and dual-ring architecture design to produce a stable multi-wavelength fiber laser(2014-05-01) ;Yeh, Chien-Hung ;Chow, Chi-Wai ;Lu, Shao-Sheng ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsIn this work, we propose and demonstrate a multi-wavelength laser source produced by utilizing a C-band reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) with a dual-ring fiber cavity. Here, the laser cavity consists of an RSOA, a 1 x 2 optical coupler, a 2 x 2 optical coupler and a polarization controller. As a result, thirteen to eighteen wavelengths around the L band could be generated simultaneously when the bias current of the C-band RSOA was driven at 30-70 mA. In addition, the output stabilities of the power and wavelength are also discussed.
