Item type:Item, Fabrication and characterization of IrO2-based microsensors for fast detection of carbon dioxide(1997-04-01) ;Lue, JC ;Chao, SC ;交大名義發表 ;電子物理學系National Chiao Tung UniversityA pair of closely spaced IrO2 electrodes covered by a polymer film is employed as a new solid-state microsensor fur CO2 gas at 1 atm and room temperature. Its function is based on IrO2 sensitivity to the pH-lowering effect produced by CO2 equilibration in the polymer film. This sensitivity is made ''asymmetric'' by leaving one IrO2/polymer ''masked'' to CO2 gas exposure. The potential difference is measured and found to be reversible and reproducible for the concentration determination of CO2 between similar to 0.1-100% CO2 in N-2. Since the microsensor shows fast response, it can also be employed in transient flow-injection experiments for the volumetric analysis of CO2. When calibrated carefully and used with care, the new microsensor based on IrO2 is capable of measuring either the concentration or volume of CO2 with high precision and negligible baseline drift.Item type:Item, Spin-orbit scattering effect on electron-electron interactions in disordered metals(2001-09-01) ;Lin, JJ ;Hsu, SY ;Lue, JC ;Sheng, PJ電子物理學系We have measured the low-temperature resistivities of a series of bulk crystalline disordered Ti73-xAl27Snx alloys (x less than or similar to 5) as well as the sheet resistances of a number of thin ferromagnetic Ni films (approximate to 120 Angstrom thick) sandwiching an ultrathin Ag or Au (less than or similar to5 Angstrom) layer. The level of impurities (concentration of Sn in the former ease, and thickness of Ag or Au in the latter case) is progressively increased in order to enhance the spin-orbit scattering in a controllable manner. The influence of the spin-orbit scattering on the electron-electron interaction effects is studied from the temperature dependence of resistivities (sheet resistance) at low temperatures. We find that the electron-electron interaction contribution to the resistivities (sheet resistances) increases slightly with increasing spin-orbit scattering. Our observation is discussed in terms of the current theoretical concept for the electron-electron interactions in disordered metals. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
