Item type:Item, 14 Gbps 60 GHz RoF Link Employing a Simple System Architecture and OFDM Modulation(2009) ;Ng\'oma, Anthony ;Sauer, Michael ;Annunziata, Frank ;Jiang, Wen-, Jr.Shih, Po-TsungA radio-over-fiber system with a simple architecture is used to transport a 14 Gbps OFDM signal occupying the full 60 GHz band. Fiber lengths exceeding 3km are supported without any dispersion compensation.Item type:Item, 2 x 2 MIMO OFDM-RoF System Employing LMS-Based Equalizer With I/Q Imbalance Compensation at 60 GHz(2014-06-01) ;Huang, Hou-Tzu ;Shih, Po-Tsung ;Lin, Chun-Ting ;Cheng, Yu-HsuanLiang, Wan-LingMultiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology is a promising method to increase spectral efficiency in wireless communications. In this paper, a 60-GHz orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing radio over fiber (OFDM-RoF) system employing 2 x 2 MIMO wireless technology is demonstrated. With the proposed equalizer employing least mean squares (LMS) algorithm, MIMO channel mixing and I/Q-mismatch can be compensated simultaneously. 16-QAM and 32-QAM OFDM signal transmissions under forward error correction (FEC) threshold (1 x 10(-3)) are demonstrated. A data rate of 76.3 Gb/s can be achieved with a bit-loading algorithm over 25-km fiber transmission and 3.5-m wireless transmission.Item type:Item, 21 Gbps OFDM Wireless Signal Transmission at 60 GHz Using a Simple IMDD Radio-over-Fiber System(2010) ;Ng\'oma, Anthony ;Shih, Po-Tsung ;George, Jacob ;Annunziata, FrankSauer, MichaelA simple double-sideband IMDD RoF system is successfully employed to directly transport a 21 Gbps OFDM signal at 60 GHz over 500 m of standard single-mode fiber and 10 m wireless distance. A BER of 3.8x10(-3) was achieved with all states of polarization over 10-km fiber and 3-m wireless MIMO transmission.Item type:Item, Simple Multi-Gbps 60 GHz Radio-over-Fiber Links Employing Optical and Electrical Data Up-conversion and Feed-Forward Equalization(2009) ;Ng\'oma, Anthony ;Sauer, Michael ;Annunziata, Frank ;Jiang, Wen-, Jr.Lin, Chun-TingWe show that optical up-conversion performs better than electrical up-conversion in simple IMDD-based 60GHz radio-over-fiber links. Feed-forward equalization improved the performances of both systems, enabling error-free transmission of 4 Gbps over 500m of single-mode fiber. A 60-GHz orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) RoF system employing 2 x 2 MIMO technology is implemented using a commonly used training symbol arrangement and a proposed method. We experimentally demonstrate that the proposed training symbol arrangement performed significantly better than the commonly used approach. By combining the proposed training symbol arrangement with LMS I/Q compensation and bit-loading, we achieve an extremely high wireless data rate transmission of 75.211 Gb/s over both 50 km of standard single-mode fiber and 3.5-m wireless distance. The optical power penalty after 50-km fiber transmission was only similar to 1 dB.Item type:Item, Volterra Nonlinearity Compensator for I/Q Imbalanced mm-Wave OFDM RoF Systems(2015) ;Huang, Hou-Tzu ;Lin, Chun-Ting ;Chiang, Shou-Chi ;Lin, Bo-JiunShih, Po-Tsung (Boris)We demonstrate experimentally, the use of an I/Q Volterra series-based algorithm to successfully compensate for nonlinearities in a wideband mm-wave RoF system having I/Q imbalance. The capacity of the system was doubled from 14.8 Gb/s to 29.6 Gb/s, while fulfilling FEC performance requirements.
