Item type:Item, A generic and visual interfacing framework for bridging the interface between application systems and recognizers(2006-09-01) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Ruzicka, Jan Karel ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceApplication systems that utilize recognition technologies such as speech, gesture, and color recognition provide human-machine interfacing to those users that are physically unable to interact with computers through traditional input devices such as mouse or keyboard. Current solutions to interface application systems with recognizers, however, use an ad hoc approach and lack of a generic and systematic way. The common approach used is to interface with recognizers through low-level programmed wrappers that are application dependent and require the details of system design and programming knowledge to perform the interfacing and to make any modifications to it. Thus, a generic and systematic approach to bridge the interface between recognizers and application systems must be quested. In this research work, we provide a generic and visual interfacing framework for bridging the interface between application systems and recognizers through the application system's front end, applying a visual level interfacing without requiring the detailed system design and programming knowledge, allowing for modifications to an interfacing environment to be made on the fly and more importantly allowing the interfacing with the P party applications without requiring access to the application's source code. Specifically, an interfacing script language for building the interfacing framework is designed and implemented. The interfacing framework uses a transparent grid layout mechanism to position the graphic user interface icons defined in the interfaced application system. The proposed interfacing framework is then used to bridge the visual interface commands defined in application systems to the voice commands trained in speech recognizers. The proposed system can be applied to GUI based commercial software without the need of accessing their internal code, and also allowing the composition of macros to reduce interaction overhead to users. Examples are applied using the proposed interfacing mechanisms to demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of the proposed visual interfacing approach.Item type:Item, A generic interface methodology for bridging application systems and speech recognizers(2007) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceApplication systems that utilize recognition technologies, such as speech recognition, provide human-machine interface that could aid people more easily in operating system device or help those who are physically unable to interact with computers through traditional input devices such as mouse or keyboard. As we have seen, speech recognition technology is widely used between the device interfaces and human. The common approached method to increase speech recognition function into devices is through low-level programmed wrappers. For getting that, first we must obtain the source code of system and have programming knowledge in order to perform it. In that, the speech commands are pre-defined for particular application systems, so user could not set or modify the commands to what they want especially. Even if the designer want to add or delete some speech commands, it also is not easy and is time consuming. In this research, we provide a general interfacing framework. Under this, user could set or modify speech commands conveniently and easily without the needs of the detailed system code, system design and programming knowledge. After speech commands are set by end user, interface would store these commands to database. When end user speak a command through interface, the interface would analyze and recognize it, and then interact directly with application systems through calling the API functions, we have done before, to control mouse moving and keyboard pressing. The proposed system could be applied to GUI based commercial software without accessing their internal code. When installing and executing our proposed interfacing framework under windows environment, user can interact with most of the application systems by controlling mouse moving, mouse jumping, mouse clicking, keyboard pressing and compound keyboard pressing through speech commands just like what we have done normally. Finally, we apply some examples to demonstrate the applicability and feasibility of the proposed interfacing framework.Item type:Item, Effective Learning Model and activate learning algorithm for improving learning efficiency(2007-11-01) ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Liang, Pi-Feng ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;資訊科學與工程研究所Institute of Computer Science and EngineeringIn recent years, technology developments are more rapidly. How to learn and obtain desired knowledge efficiently has become an important but complicated problem. We hope that there are methods can give us some suggestions about how to learn knowledge efficiently. In this paper, we introduced some learning behavior of people, and then use our designed Effective Learning Curve Model to imitate this learning phenomenon. Using our learning function model, we can imitate people's learning behavior through pretesting. Every one has different learning behavior functions on learning distinct courses. Different learning sequence of courses will cause different learning efficiency. From this view, we proposed Max Learning Efficiency Slope First Algorithm (MLESFA) by differential learning functions to give people some suggestions about courses learning sequence and obtain desired knowledge efficiently. These algorithms also can help us to understand how much time we have to spend on each course in order to get better learning efficiency under time limitation. Finally, we make some learning example and compare simulation results with other courses learning algorithms. From the simulation results, we can see that our MLESFA algorithm has better learning efficiency than others.Item type:Item, Generating Remote Control Interface Automatically into Cellular Phone for Controlling Applications Running on PC(2010-03-01) ;Chen, Deng-Jyi ;Peng, Shih-Jung ;Ong, Chin-Eng ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceGenerally speaking, we could conveniently and directly operate ordinary user interface by hand controller. But along with the progressing techniques and increasing functions of communication equipment for family use, the operation and interaction styles between people and device have become more and more abundant. Most of the multimedia contents can be run and displayed on different kinds of platforms without possessing remote control ability originally. If people can just use some simple instruments, such as cellular phone or PDA, to remotely control the multimedia application module running on the PC or digital TV, then the control would become vivid and interesting. But there are various controlled instruments, display devices, and different kinds of methods. People who want to make a specified device to have remote control ability functions must write many complex procedures or programs into the device. Even in just adding or modifying a new function, people must also find the original source program and design function procedures repeatedly, which make developing application systems a cost burden, waste of time, and inefficient. In this paper, we will construct a remote control interface generator system, under which designer can easily transfer specified control object of Java application system running on PC, such as control buttons and labels, and generate remote control interface with objects into cellular phone automatically. This will simplify the development process of creating a control interface and make the control system development and modification more flexible and elastic. Through directly generated controlling objects and functions into the cellular phone by interface generator, we could directly and easily control the Java application system running on the PC without needing to write complex programs into the cellular phone.
