Item type:Item, A dispatching rule for photolithography scheduling with an on-line rework strategy(2006-07-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Hsu, S. Y. ;Che, Z. H. ;Chen, C. H.工業工程與管理學系Generally speaking, wafer fabrication factories define the photolithography area as the dispatching center of the entire factory. To establish a set of operative dispatching rules in the photolithography area while taking into consideration the rework of defective products would assist in coordinating and balancing the workload of the entire production line. Furthermore, it would help to enhance both the productivity and efficiency of the wafer fabrication, reduce the on-line WIP stock, shorten the production cycle time, and satisfy the requirements of customers regarding production due time and product quality. This research uses on-line rework as the basis for bringing the factor of reworking of a batch process into the dispatching rule for measurement. It then develops the dispatching rule (Rw-DR) which includes the rework strategy. In addition, this research focuses on the batch with high finished proportion in the photolithography area for finding a way to complete the manufacturing procedure faster, lighten the machine workload of the waiting line, and at the same time increase the output quantity. Y. ;Hsu, Cheng-Yu ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementA hybrid particle swarm optimization (PSO) for the job shop problem (JSP) is proposed in this paper. In previous research. PSO particles search solutions in a continuous solution space. Since the solution space of the JSP is discrete, we modified the particle position representation, particle movement, and particle velocity to better suit PSO for the JSP. We modified the particle position based on preference list-based representation, particle movement based on swap operator, and particle velocity based on the tabu list concept in our algorithm. Giffler and Thompson's heuristic is used to decode a particle position into a schedule. Furthermore, we applied tabu search to improve the solution quality. The computational results show that the modified PSO performs better than the original design, and that the hybrid PSO is better than other traditional metaheuristics. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Y. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementSupply chain management has offered a way to improve the industrial environment becomes more competitive. While, the commonly seen methodologies may be effective in solving the production-distribution problem only from supplier- or customer-oriented consideration, those cannot present the interactive relationship between upstream and downstream enterprises. In the competitive semiconductor industry environment, considering the viewpoints of the supplier and consumer simultaneously is particularly required, because multiple manufacturing and demanding steps are performed at separate situations, concurrently. In this paper, we propose an interaction-oriented approach, which bases on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methodology and proportional rule, to solve the semiconductor distribution problem with multiple quantitative and qualitative criteria. The developed approach gives an expected satisfaction for the all participators of the whole chain while the cooperative information is shared perfectly and effectively. Analysis results demonstrate the proposed methodology is efficient and effective through a real world case study. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Y. ;Chen, P. K. ;Chen, Yung-Hsin ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementThe purpose of this study is to explore which alignment strategies of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) with e-commerce setting can develop adequate condition to meet different business strategies requirements in practice. This study is based on 127 Asian samples sieved from the International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS) database, and applies a hypothesis-test to infer the result. From these Asian samples, we found that the manufacturers usually adopt two business strategies such as product strategy, and high-quality product/delivery strategies to maintain or improve competitive advantage. To As to what business strategies can be successfully put into practice, the results of test indicates that two different alignment strategies of AMT with e-commerce setting can develop appropriate condition to satisfy the requirements of two kind of business strategies. Our finding provides the insight very beneficial for manufacturers to reconsider their alignment strategies of AMT with e-commerce setting to meet business strategies in different context.Item type:Item, Case study of an intelligent green store based on NFC technology(2014) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Perng, Der Baau ;Lai, Guo Liang ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementThis study adopts an empirical case study that focuses on improving the process of products exhibit and sale in the store using NFC technology. Through intelligent interactive guide-shopping system proposed by this research, this case shows how to reduce the cost of products exhibition and simplify the sales process based on the NFC technology. Furthermore, this shopping flow not only enhances the shopping efficiency for consumers but also saves energy in the stores with less display space and marketing costs. The stores could also collect shopping information in order to realize the consumers\' behavior and then offer better service.Item type:Item, Design of due-date oriented look-ahead batching rule in wafer fabrication(2007-12-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Hsu, Sheng-Yuan ;Lai, X. D. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementIn wafer fabrication processes, batch processing accounts for over 30% of the overall processing time. And it's a trade-off between machine utilization and wafer waiting time. Therefore, batch machines have become one of the constraint resources during wafer fabrication. How to maintain the utilization and reduce the waiting time are important tasks for production control. Plenty of research in the past several years focused on the dispatching rules of batch processing. According to many researchers, look-ahead batch dispatching rules outperform MBS on waiting times and machine utilization. The look-ahead batching rules that have been developed are DBH, NACH, MCR, and DJAH. However, these rules do not take the due-date information of wafers into consideration, and can't accelerate the wafer's fabrication that will not be completed before the due-date. This study will develop a due-date oriented look-ahead batching rule, namely LBCR, that considers the due-date and expects to raise delivery rates and reduce the average tardiness. Firstly, this study will modify those batching rules to fit the manufacturing environment of wafer fabrication. There are serial simulation tests on those batching rules under various kinds of factors in terms of environment, including traffic intensity, product numbers and product mix rate. Finally, this study will compare the five batching rules on different performance indicators. After the simulation and statistic analysis undertaken, LBCR does outperform other batch dispatching rules on due-date related performance indicators, such as tardy rate and average tardiness.Item type:Item, Development and evaluation of a tree-indexing approach to improve case-based reasoning: illustrated using the due date assignment problem(2006-08-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Liu, C. -H. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementIn this study a novel case indexing approach is proposed for case-based reasoning (CBR). This new approach, called the tree-indexing approach, is a modified form of the inductive learning-indexing (IL-indexing) approach and is especially applied to assist CBR in numeric prediction. The tree-indexing approach organizes the cases in the memory by inducting a tree-shaped structure, in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of case retrieval. The experiments, using three real world problems from the UCI repository, show that the CBR with the tree-indexing approach (T-CBR) is superior to the conventional CBR. This study also applies T-CBR for solving the due date assignment problem in a dynamic job shop environment in order to investigate whether T-CBR's expected benefits can be observed in practice. The results of the experiments show that our proposed T-CBR can indeed more accurately predict the job due date than the other methods presently in use.Item type:Item, Development of a regression-based method with case-based tuning to solve the due date assignment problem(2007-01-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Storch, R. L. ;Liu, C. -H. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementMany regression-based methods to date have been proposed for solving the due date assignment (DDA) problem. The advantages of regression-based DDA methods are that they are easy to both put into practice and comprehend. However, relatively little scheduling research has focused on improving the performances of regression-based DDA methods. The performance of a regression-based DDA method could be improved if its values of regression coefficients could provide a more accurate and precise flowtime estimation for each individual job. The difficulty in doing this stems from the dynamic and stochastic nature of production environment that precludes accurate estimation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to suggest a particular methodology for setting the regression coefficients to improve the performance of regression-based DDA method. In particular, the regression-based DDA method achieved by our suggested methodology is able to adjust the values of coefficients dynamically to best predict the job due date based on the condition of the shop at the instant of job entry. To evaluate the robustness of the methodology, an experimental design was used with four regression coefficient determining procedures, two shop models, and three dispatching rules. The results of this investigation clearly indicate that significant improvements in the performance of regression-based DDA method can occur when the suggested methodology is used.Item type:Item, Exploring the Intention of Customers to Use Innovative Digital Content Information Technology(2012-01-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Lai, Guo-Liang ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementDiffering from previous works, this study explores the critical factors affecting the intention of a customer while using innovative digital content information technology in a retail store. Based on the literature of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study proposes to construct a test model and adopts structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the model. All data collected from 101 customers were used to evaluate the proposed model. Based on our test results, we found that all path relationships are significant in the hypothesized model. Thus, the results of this study strongly support feedback and operations interface simplification as factors that can affect intention to use innovative digital content information technology.Item type:Item, The evaluation of search range assignment in 300 mm automated material handling system (AMHS)(2008-01-01) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Lin, J. T. ;Yang, C. J. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementIn the 300 mm AMHS with a connected loops layout, the vehicle can travel not just in one loop but all around the wide fab to execute tool-to-tool delivery. Determining how far the waiting FOUPs (WFs) or idle vehicles (IVs) should be considered before selecting a dispatching rule might make dispatching more efficient. A two-phase approach with simulation has been developed to assign the search range (SR) for studying this idea. The model of a simplified 300 mm AMHS was built using eM-Plant and Design Expert to design experiments and analyse the results. In phase I, the number of WF and IV in the system at the time of dispatching will affect the distance of the vehicle's empty trip (DVemp). Further, the SR was assigned and evaluated based on the average and standard deviation of DVemp under different numbers of WF and IV in phase II. The results indicated that the SR significantly affects the performance, and a longer SR used in a light system is feasible; a shorter SR is applicable for a heavy system.Item type:Item, The strategic fit of supply chain integration in the TFT-LCD industry(2008) ;Sha, D. Y. ;Yang, C. J. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementThis paper addresses the operational issues of transport strategies in tool and vehicle dispatching integration (TVDI) architecture in a fully automated manufacturing wafer fab. At present, there are three transport strategies involved in vehicle dispatching, namely, avoid blocking, avoid starvation, and accelerate batch preparation. These strategies were developed to obviate production obstacles and to avoid capacity loss. Consequently, there are five levels in the decision-making process of TVDI, namely, dispatching request, conditions checking, candidate selection, dispatching rules, and result execution. Specifically, candidate selection was classified into five categories: FOUP-selects-tool (FST), FOUP-selects-stocker (FSS), tool-selects-FOUP (TSF), FOUP-selects-vehicle (FSV), and vehicle-selects-FOUP (VSF). The proposed transport strategies were implemented in VSF, and a simulation model abstracted from a wafer fab in Taiwan was used to evaluate the performance. The results show that the differences in the proposed strategies compared with ignoring the issues are statistically significant, and the performances of the wafer output, cycle time and waiting time can be improved.
