Item type:Item, Business-to-business workflow interoperation based on process-views(2004-12-01) ;Liu, DR ;Shen, MX ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceWhen cooperating with each other, enterprises must closely monitor internal processes and those of partners to streamline business-to-business (B2B) workflows. This work applies the process-view model, which extends beyond conventional activity-based process models, to design workflows across multiple enterprises. A process-view is an abstraction of an implemented process. An enterprise can design various process-views for different partners based on diverse commercial relationships and, in doing so, establish an integrated process that consists of internal processes and process-views that each partner provides. Participatory enterprises can obtain appropriate progress information from their own integrated processes, allowing them to collaborate effectively. Furthermore, B2B workflows are coordinated through virtual states of process-views. This work develops a uniform approach to manage state mappings between internal processes and process-views. The proposed approach enhances prevalent activity-based process models adaptable to collaborative environments. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. In this work, a process-view model, which extends beyond the conventional activity-based process model, is applied to design workflows across multiple enterprises. A process-view is an abstraction of an implemented process. An enterprise can design various process-views for different partners according to diverse commercial relationships, and establish an integrated process that is comprised of private processes as well as the process-views that these partners provide. Participatory enterprises can obtain appropriate progress information from their own integrated processes, allowing them to collaborate more effectively. Furthermore, interorganizational workflows are coordinated through virtual states of process-views. This work develops a regulated approach to map the states between private processes and process-views' The proposed approach enhances prevalent activity-based process models to be adapted in open and collaborative environments.Item type:Item, Designing a composite e-service platform with recommendation function(2003-05-01) ;Liu, DR ;Shen, MX ;Liao, CT ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceEnterprises make e-services available via the Internet to drive new revenue streams or create new efficiencies. Composite e-services, which consist of various e-services provided by different e-service providers, are more valuable for customers. This work presents a novel platform capable of supporting e-service metadata, and modeling and recommending composite e-services. Composite e-services are modeled by using the activity diagram of Unified Modeling Language in which Event/Condition/Action (ECA) rules are employed to control the sequence of e-services enactment and to select e-service providers. Moreover, two-level e-service metadata is designed to extend Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) standard to enable semantic search and selection of e-services. Finally, data mining approach is proposed to discover the frequent predicates of e-services and the frequent orderings between e-services. Based on the mining result, the proposed platform provides a recommendation of top N composite e-services to customers. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. However, workers (representing organizational roles) cannot easily obtain a global view of a complex and large workflow. This work proposes a process-view based dissemination of process knowledge to address this problem. A process-view is an abstracted process derived from a physical process, and can provide adaptable task granularity. The relationships among tasks, roles and operations, as specified in role-based access control systems, are used to evaluate the degrees of relevance between roles and tasks. Next, a novel algorithm is proposed to generate automatically role-relevant process-views based on degrees of relevance. Knowledge management systems can thus disseminate abstracted process knowledge through process-views for those roles in a complex workflow. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. However, workers (representing organizational roles) cannot easily obtain a global view of a complex and large workflow. However current activity-based approach is nor adequate to provide different participants with varied process information. This work describes a novel process-view model for workflow management. A process-view is an abstracted process derived from a base process to provide abstracted process information. The underlying concept and formal model of a process-view are presented. Moreover: a novel ordering-preserved approach is proposed to derive a process-view from a base process. The proposed approach enhances the flexibility and functionality of conventional activity-based workflow management systems.Item type:Item, Workflow modeling for virtual processes: an order-preserving process-view approach(2003-09-01) ;Liu, DR ;Shen, MX ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceConducting workflow management allows virtual enterprises to collaboratively manage business processes. Given the diverse requirements of the participants involved in a business process, providing various participants with adequate process information is critical to effective workflow management. This work describes a novel process-view, i.e., an abstracted process which is derived from a base process to provide process abstraction, for modeling a virtual workflow process. The proposed process-view model enhances the conventional activity-based process models by providing different participants with various views of a process. Moreover, this work presents a novel order-preserving approach to derive a process-view from a base process. The approach proposed herein can preserve the original ordering of activities in the base process. Additionally, a formal model is presented to define an order-preserving process-view. Finally, an algorithm is proposed for automatically generating an order-preserving process-view. The proposed approach increases the flexibility and functionality of workflow management systems.
