Item type:Item, A coordinated reverse logistics system for regional management of multi-source hazardous wastes(2007-05-01) ;Sheu, Jiuh-Biing ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementThis paper presents a coordinated reverse logistics (CRL) management system for the treatment of multi-source hazardous wastes in a given region, in this case, a specific high-technology manufacturing zone. A linear multi-objective analytical model is formulated that systematically minimizes both the total reverse logistics operating costs and corresponding risks. In addition to inter-organizational logistics operating factors, environmental concerns are considered and formulated as corresponding risk-related constraints. Using the proposed model, results of numerical studies indicate that when the aspect of risk-induced penalties is not considered, the operational costs of regional hazardous-waste management can be efficiently reduced by 58%, compared to the existing operational costs at the study site. In addition, it is also observed that the corresponding weight associated with the risk-induced objective function embedded in the proposed model seems to have a significant effect on the CRL costs. The induced direct and indirect effects via constructs of product attributes and net product value are then incorporated into the proposed conceptual model, which is formulated with a discrete-time nonlinear stochastic system. An empirical study of product categories of sport shoes and note book computers demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed methodology. The analytical results demonstrate the capability of the proposed model to forecast consumer attitudes toward a promoted product and reveal the potential heterogeneity in patterns of attitude changes characterized by product attributes, price, and endorser performance as perceived by consumers. Furthermore, we infer that celebrity endorsement can significantly influence consumer purchase attitudes via both direct and indirect effects through product-attribute construct. The proposed methodology involves three main mechanisms: (1) pre-route customer classification using fuzzy clustering techniques, (2) determination of customer group-based delivery service priority and (3) en-route goods delivery using multi-objective optimization programming methods. In the process of pre-route customer classification, the proposed method groups customers' orders primarily based on the multiple attributes of customer demands, rather than by static geographic attributes, which are mainly considered in classical vehicle routing algorithms. Numerical studies including a real-world application are conducted to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method and its potential advantages over existing operational strategies. Using the proposed method, it is shown that the overall performance of a logistics distribution system can be improved by more than 20%, according to the numerical results from the case studied. The proposed methodological framework includes three main developmental phases: (1) establishment of a GL strategic hierarchy, (2) formulation of GL-mode identification rules, and (3) development of a GL-mode choice model. By integrating advanced multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques including fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (Fuzzy-AHP), Fuzzy-MCDM, and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS), six types of global logistics and operational modes coupled with corresponding fuzzy-based multi-criteria decision-making rules are specified in the second phase. Using the specified fuzzy decision-making rules as the input database, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is then developed in the third phase to identify proper GL modes for the implementation of global supply chain management. A numerical study with a questionnaire survey database aimed at the information technology (IT) industries of Taiwan is conducted to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method. The proposed methodology is developed based on the following five developmental procedures, including: (1) specification of demand attributes, (2) customer grouping, (3) customer group ranking, (4) container assignment, and (5) vehicle assignment. The numerical results show that the model permits managing both the time-varying customer order data and logistics resources dynamically with the goal of optimal logistics resource allocation. Particularly, both the aggregate operational costs and average lead time are reduced by 27.4% and 8.7%, respectively, in a case study. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. This paper presents a microscopic driver behavior model to explain the dynamics of the instantaneous driver decision process under lane-blocking incidents on adjacent lanes. The proposed conceptual framework decomposes the corresponding driver decision process into three sequential phases: (1) initial stimulus, (2) glancing-around car-following, and (3) incident-induced driving behavior. The theorem of quantum mechanics in optical flows is applied in the first phase to explain the motion-related perceptual phenomena while vehicles approach the incident site in adjacent lanes, followed by the incorporation of the effect of quantum optical flows in modeling the induced glancing-around car-following behavior in the second phase. Then, an incident-induced driving behavior model is formulated to reproduce the dynamics of driver behavior conducted in the process of passing by an incident site in the adjacent lanes. Numerical results of model tests using video-based incident data indicate the validity of the proposed traffic behavior model in analyzing the incident-induced lane traffic phenomena. It is also expected that such a proposed quantum-mechanics based methodology can throw more light if applied to driver psychology and response in anomalous traffic environments in order to improve road safety. Utilizing the asymmetric Nash bargaining game, this work seeks equilibrium negotiation solutions. Analytical results indicate that the reverse logistics provider alliance increases the bargaining power of reverse logistics providers when negotiating with a manufacturer for a profitable recycled-component supply contract; however, manufacturer profits are often reduced. Particularly in the case of an recycled-component vender-dominated market, a reverse logistics alliance with extreme bargaining power may cause a counter-profit effect that results in the decreases of profits for all players involved, including buyers (i.e., manufacturers) and allied recycled-component venders (i.e., reverse logistics providers). Additional managerial insights are provided for discussion. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy clustering-optimization approach to the operation of emergency logistics co-distribution responding to the urgent relief demands in the crucial rescue period. Based on a proposed three-layer emergency logistics co-distribution conceptual framework, the proposed methodology involves two recursive mechanisms: (1) disaster-affected area grouping, and (2) relief co-distribution. Numerical studies with a real large-scale earthquake disaster occurring in Taiwan are conducted, and the corresponding results indicate the applicability of the proposed method and its potential advantages. We hope that this study can not only make the proposed emergency logistics system available with more benefits to the development of emergency logistics systems for the urgent needs of disaster areas around the world but also stimulate more excellent researches concerning emergency logistics management. The proposed integrated dynamic toll-ramp control methodology is built mainly on the principles of stochastic optimal control approaches, involving two developmental procedures. First, through detector configurations and system specification, a discrete-time nonlinear stochastic system is formulated to characterize the time-varying relationships of system states, control variables, and traffic data. Then, by employing the extended Kalman filtering technology, a stochastic optimal control based algorithm is proposed to execute the integrated dynamic toll and ramp control mechanism. With the aid of the Paramics microscopic traffic simulator, numerical studies under various simulated freeway congestion scenarios are conducted. Corresponding numerical results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed methodology in response to diverse freeway traffic congestion phenomena, and its relative advantages in improving both the average travel time and hourly throughputs by 16.4% and 16.5%, respectively. Utilizing the asymmetrical Nash bargaining game with uncertainties, this work seeks equilibrium negotiation solutions to player agendas. Analytical results indicate that financial intervention by a government generates a significant effect on the relative bargaining power of green supply chain members in negotiations. Over intervention by a government may result in adverse effects on chain members' profits and social welfare. Furthermore, a bargaining framework underlying the duopoly-oligopoly context may contribute to a negotiation outcome most profitable for green supply chain members. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. On the basis of a conceptual framework, this paper develops an analytical model to explore the correlations among channel power, relationship commitment and channel performance under the implementation of diverse independent incentives. The proposed model is empirically tested using LISREL and questionnaire survey data sampled from the liquid crystal display TV manufacturer-dealer channels of the optoelectronic industry in Taiwan. The results reveal that the sophisticated utilization of independent incentives through channel relationship commitment as the key mediator determines the channel performance; furthermore, relative to contractual incentives, relationship-building incentives appear to be more effective in promoting channel relationship commitment, thus leading to superior channel performance toward the ultimate goal of sustainable channel relationship management. Car following is deemed the outcome of the intuitive response of a driver to instantaneous optical stimuli in the visual field driven by changes in the surrounding traffic environments. Such optical stimuli are transformed into psychophysical momentums in the quantum optical field using quantum mechanics, and then used to approximate the driver speed adjustment in the optical-flow-induced stimulus-response process. Preliminary test results using video-based data reveal the potential of the proposed model's applicability in characterising driver decisions to adjust speed in response to changes in surrounding traffic situations perceived in the visual field. Generalisations of analytical results also infer that under a plausible condition that a following driver fully focused on the front vehicle's behaviour, the proposed model permits reproducing car-following behaviour similar to that generated by existing models.Item type:Item, Driver perception uncertainty in perceived relative speed and reaction time in car following - A quantum optical flow perspective(2015-10-01) ;Sheu, Jiuh-Biing ;Wu, Hsi-Jen ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementDriver perception uncertainty characterized in perceived relatnd reaction time plays a key role in influencing car-following behavior; and however, is rarely investigated in related literature. Grounded on quantum optical flow theory, we propose a dynamic and stochastic driver perception model to investigate the relationship between the uncertainty of perceived relative speed and that of reaction time during car following. Specifically, the proposed model hypothesizes that driver perceived speed and reaction time are time-varying and uncertain, and correlate in a trade-off relationship mimicking the form of Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. To test the assertion that a trade-off relationship of uncertainty in perceived relative speed and reaction time exists in car following, this study conducts qualitative analysis followed by a two-stage experiment rooted in quantum optical flow theory using data collected from a driver simulator. Analytical results further elucidate car-following phenomena under driver-perception uncertainty, potentially facilitating the development of new traffic flow theories. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. The proposed methodology consists of three steps: (1) data fusion to forecast relief demand in multiple areas, (2) fuzzy clustering to classify affected area into groups, and (3) multicriteria decision making to rank the order of priority of groups. The results of tests accounting for different experimental scenarios indicate that the overall forecast errors are lower than 10% inferring the proposed method's capability of dynamic relief-demand forecasting and allocation with imperfect information to facilitate emergency logistics operations. A differential game model comprising Vidale-Wolfe equation has been established in light of sales competition and recycling dynamics as well as regulation related profit function. Analytic solutions of Markovian Nash equilibriums are provided with the necessary condition derived from Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations. We found that governments should opt to gradually raise regulation standards so that rational manufacturers will gradually improve its product recyclability, and, in turn, Extended Product Responsibility will get promoted.
