Item type:Item, 30 nm resolution x-ray imaging at 8 keV using third order diffraction of a zone plate lens objective in a transmission microscope(2006-11-27) ;Yin, Gung-Chian ;Song, Yen-Fang ;Tang, Mau-Tsu ;Chen, Fu-RongLiang, Keng S.A hard x-ray transmission microscope with 30 nm spatial resolution has been developed employing the third diffraction order of a zone plate objective. The microscope utilizes a capillary type condenser with suitable surface figure to generate a hollow cone illumination which is matched in illumination range to the numerical aperture of the third order diffraction of a zone plate with an outmost zone width of 50 nm. Using a test sample of a 150 nm thick gold spoke pattern with finest half-pitch of 30 nm, the authors obtained x-ray images with 30 nm resolution at 8 keV x-ray energy. However, the fused 3D position is affected when the virtual object is blocked by the fingertip. Additionally, the 3D image with a large disparity decreases 3D touch accuracy. In order to improve the touch accuracy, virtual references and 3D image feedback were introduced respectively, and the touch accuracy was more than 90% based on a human interaction experiment.Item type:Item, 3D mobile display based on dual directional lightguides(2005) ;Chu, Yu-Mioun ;Chien, Ko-Wei ;Shieh, Han-Ping D. ;Chang, Jim-MinHu, AaronA novel light direction controlling backlight for 3D mobile display was proposed and fabricated. However, it has a serious issue called color breakup (CBU), which degrades image quality and causes viewers uncomfortable. Consequently, the "Stencil-FSC" method, which utilized multi-color image in a single field, was proposed to suppress CBU. Moreover, optimizations of hardware parameters were done to get the optimal CBU suppression. Finally, the Stencil-FSC method was successfully demonstrated on a 32-inch FSC-LCD with effectively suppressed CBU, resulting contrast ratio of more than 5,500:1, and average power consumption of less than 45 Watt.Item type:Item, A field sequential color LCD base on color field arrangement for color breakup and flicker reduction(2007) ;Hsu, Ya-Ting ;Lin, Fang-Cheng ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Huang, Yi-PaiShieh, Han-Ping D.Field sequential color liquid crystal displays (FSC-LCDs) have several original benefits, including higher light efficiency, definition, and color saturation than those of conventional LCDs. However, FSC-LCDs are well known that the color breakup (CBU) is the serious issue needed to be solved. We have developed a new driving technique on a 5.6-inch OCB mode FSC-LCD. This proposed 4-color field arrangement (4-CFA) method can effectively eliminate the CBU of FSC-LCDs.Item type:Item, A Field Sequential Color LCD Based on Color Fields Arrangement for Color Breakup and Flicker Reduction(2009-01-01) ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Lin, Fang-Cheng ;Hsu, Ya-Ting ;Huang, Yi-PaiShieh, Han-Ping D.The field sequential color (FSC) mechanism can effectively generate multi-primary color fields in temporal sequence to form a full-color image. Color breakup (CBU), however, has appeared intrinsically in conventional FSC displays to degrade visual qualities. A novel CBU suppression method, color fields arrangement (CFA), was proposed to eliminate the artifacts for FSC liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The modified order of consecutive color fields results in superimposed color images on a retina without CBU. Additionally, the 4-CFA method with a field rate of 240 Hz was found to avoid the flicker phenomenon on static images. The proposed method was successfully implemented on a 5.6-in optically compensated bend (OCB) LC panel. Our results confirm that the visibility of CBU artifacts can be reduced as the evaluation of dynamic and static models.Item type:Item, A human visual model for color break-up artifact in design field-sequential color LCDs(2007) ;Chen, Sheng-Chang ;Yan, Shu-Ping ;Cheng, Yu-Kuo ;Lin, Fang-ChengWei, Ching-MingA model to evaluate the color break-up (CBU) of field-sequential color liquid crystal display (FSC-LCD) had been successfully established. In order to quantify the CBU, "Color Break-Up Angle (CBUA)" was proposed as the evaluation index. From the psychophysical experiments, the CBUA=0.26 degrees was reported as the averaged threshold value for indistinguished color break-up. Consequently, the minimum frame rate could be derived from the model to suppress CBU in the various FSC-LCDs.Item type:Item, A non-selenization technology by co-sputtering deposition for solar cell applications(1970-01-01) ;Jheng, Bao-Tang ;Liu, Po-Tsun ;Wu, Meng-Chyi ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.光電工程學系"This work presents a novel method to form polycrystalline Cu(In1-xGax)Se-2 (CIGS) thin film by co-sputtering of In-Se and Cu-Ga alloy targets without an additional selenization process. An attempt was also made to thoroughly elucidate the surface morphology, crystalline phases, physical properties, and chemical properties of the CIGS films by using material analysis methods. Experimental results indicate that CIGS thin films featured densely packed grains and chalcopyrite phase peaks of (112), (220), (204), (312), and (116). Raman spectroscopy analysis revealed chalcopyrite CIGS phase with Raman shift at 175 cm(-1), while no signal at 258 cm(-1) indicated the exclusion of Cu2-xSe phase. Hall effect measurements confirmed the polycrystalline Cu(In, Ga)Se-2 thin film to be of p type semiconductor with a film resistivity and mobility of 2.19 x 102 Omega cm and 88 cm(2)/V s, respectively. With the FSC mechanism, color filters of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) can be removed to heighten the light efficiency and lower the material cost. Color breakup (CBU), however, has appeared intrinsically to degrade visual qualities. A novel gray level determination of liquid crystal and backlight (LC/BL) was proposed to suppress the CBU artifact on FSC-LCDs. Based on the image content in each frame, a dominated color-mixed field was found to minimize the color difference between the CBU and original image. The a-IGZO: N acting as a back-channel passivation (BCP) is formed sequentially just after the sputter-deposited amorphous IGZO (a-IGZO) film with in situ nitrogen incorporation process. The a-IGZO:N can effectively prevent the a-IGZO channel from exposing to the atmosphere and retarding interactions with ambient oxygen species. Also, the optical energy bandgap of the a-IGZO:N film is decreased due to the addition of nitrogen. This causes the a-IGZO TFT with a-IGZO:N BCP to exhibit high immunity to the ultraviolet-radiation impact.Item type:Item, AMOLED panel driven by time-multiplexed clamped inverter circuit to reduce complex control signals(2008-07-01) ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Chen, Ke-Horng ;Chen, Che-Chin ;Chen, Yi-FuShieh, Han-Ping D.A time-multiplexing technique employing a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) charge-pump scheme for driving active-matrix organic light-emitting-diodes (AMOLEDs) is described.
