Item type:Item, A VIKOR technique based on DEMATEL and ANP for information security risk control assessment(2013-05-20) ;Yang, Yu-Ping Ou ;Shieh, How-Ming ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyAs companies and organizations have grown to rely on their computer systems and networks, the issue of information security management has become more significant. To maintain their competitiveness, enterprises should safeguard their information and try to eliminate the risk of information being compromised or reduce this risk to an acceptable level. This paper proposes an information security risk-control assessment model that could improve information security for these companies and organizations. We propose an MCDM model combining VIKOR, DEMATEL, and ANP to solve the problem of conflicting criteria that show dependence and feedback. In addition, an empirical application of evaluating the risk controls is used to illustrate the proposed method. The results show that our proposed method can be effective in helping IT managers validate the effectiveness of their risk controls. (C) 2011 Elsevier Inc. It was developed for multicriteria optimization of complex systems. However, few papers discuss conflicting (competing) criteria with dependence and feedback in the compromise solution method. Therefore, this study proposes and provides applications for a novel model using the VIKOR technique based on DEMATEL and the ANP to solve the problem of conflicting criteria with dependence and feedback. In addition, this research also uses DEMATEL to normalize the unweighted supermatrix of the ANP to suit the real world. An example is also presented to illustrate the proposed method with applications thereof. The results show the proposed method is suitable and effective in real-world applications.Item type:Item, A VIKOR-BASED MULTIPLE CRITERIA DECISION METHOD FOR IMPROVING INFORMATION SECURITY RISK(2009-06-01) ;Yang, Yu-Ping Ou ;Shieh, How-Ming ;Leu, Jun-Der ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung科技管理研究所Most multicriteria methods focus on ranking and selecting from a set of alternatives. These methods are usually used to compare all alternatives based on the synthesized scorings within a normalized scale with respect to the same criteria in multicriteria problems. However, the decision makers often simultaneously manage one or several alternatives/projects with conflicting and noncommensurable criteria to reduce the gaps to achieve the aspired grade in practice. They then need to rank the gaps that have not been reduced or improved (the unimproved gaps) for the alternatives/projects or aspects of a project to get the most benefit. Because these compared alternatives/projects do not usually have the same criteria/aspects, traditional methods are unsuitable to deal with them. Thus, this research proposes a new VIKOR method to solve this problem; this new method allows the decision maker to understand these gaps of the projects/aspects and rank them to improve these large gaps in control items to achieve the aspired level. Its concept originates in compromise solutions, in particular the VIKOR method. In addition, this research also provides an example of improving information security risk to demonstrate the suitability of this new method. The results show the effectiveness of the new method.Item type:Item, An integration method combining Rough Set Theory with formal concept analysis for personal investment portfolios(2010-08-01) ;Shyng, Jhieh-Yu ;Shieh, How-Ming ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;科技管理研究所Institute of Management of TechnologyThe classical Rough Set Theory (RST) always generates too many rules, making it difficult for decision makers to choose a suitable rule. In this study, we use two processes (pre process and post process) to select suitable rules and to explore the relationship among attributes In pre process, we propose a pruning process to select suitable rules by setting up a threshold on the support object of decision rules, to thereby solve the problem of too many rules The post process used the formal concept analysis from these suitable rules to explore the attribute relationship and the most important factors affecting decision making for choosing behaviours of personal investment portfolios In this study, we explored the main concepts (characteristics) for the conservative portfolio the stable job, less than 4 working years, and the gender is male, the moderate portfolio. high school education, the monthly salary between NT$30,001 (US$1000) and NT$80,000 (US$2667), the gender is male, and the aggressive portfolio. the monthly salary between NT$30,001 (US$1000) and NT$80,000 (US$2667), less than 4 working years, and a stable job The study result successfully explored the most important factors affecting the personal investment portfolios and the suitable rules that can help decision makers. In this paper, we hope to discover possible trends and needs of business aviation for supporting the government to make decision in anticipation of eventual deregulation in the near future. We adopt knowledge-discovery tools based on rough set to analyze the potential for business aviation through an empirical study. Although our empirical study uses data from Taiwan, we are optimistic that our proposed method can be similarly applied in other countries to help governments there make decisions about a deregulated market.Item type:Item, Combined rough sets with flow graph and formal concept analysis for business aviation decision-making(2011-06-01) ;Yang, Yu-Ping Ou ;Shieh, How-Ming ;Tzeng, Gwo-Hshiung ;Yen, LeonChan, Chien-ChungAlthough business aviation has been popular in the USA, Europe, and South America, however, top economies in East Asia, including Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, have been more conservative and lag behind in the development of business aviation. This study uses an empirical real-case involving a personal investment portfolio to demonstrate the proposed method. The presented case includes 75 rules generated by the RST. The rules are vague and fragmentary, making it very difficult to interpret the information. Many rules have the same strength and number of support objects and condition parts. These are creating a critical problem for decision making. The new method proposed in this study not only enables the selection of interesting rules, but it also reduces the data amount, and offers alternative strategies that can help decision-makers analyze data. Rough Set Theory mathematically classifies data into class sets. The class set with the most objects may generate one decision rule. The rules generated from RST are rough and fragmented, that are very difficult to interpret the information. An empirical case is used to generate more than 85 rules by the RST method in comparison with FSBT method which only generated 14 rules. This result can show our proposed method is better than traditional RST method based on class sets that contain the most objects. Much of human knowledge is described in natural language. It is a very important thing to convert information from computer databases into normal human language. Sample data taken from features with the same backgrounds are used to compile different portfolios that investment companies and investment advisors can employ to satisfy the investor' needs. The method not only can provide decision-making rules, but also can offer alternative strategies for better data analysis. We believe that the FSBT technique can be fully applied in research on investment marketing. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
