Item type:Item, Compact LED projector design with high uniformity and efficiency(2014-10-10) ;Sun, Wen-Shing ;Tien, Chuen-Lin ;Ma, Chao-Hui ;Pan, Jui-Wen光電系統研究所The aim of this study is to design a compact LED projector that is divided into two systems: an illumination system and an imaging optical system. The illumination system consists of an RGB LED light source with a collimator lens group and a mirror with a color filter and a lens array integrator instead of an integrated rod so as to improve the uniformity of the light intensity. By using a new total internal reflection prism and projection lens, the whole optical engine is smaller in size and has a higher contrast ratio for image quality. The imaging optical system consists of a total of eight lenses (six spherical lenses and two aspherical lenses), for a total length of 52 mm; a tolerance analysis is conducted. Optical simulation software is used for the system analysis in order to determine the efficiency and uniformity of the light intensity. In this design, the uniformity of the screen reaches more than 82%, and the efficiency increases by more than 44%. Adding a biprism array can help that get the image pair easily. So users can use their mobile phone to catch the stereo image anywhere by adding a biprism array, and if they want to get a normal image just remove it. Using biprism arrays will induce chromatic aberration. Therefore, we design a double biprism arrays to reduce chromatic aberration.Item type:Item, Dual view capsule endoscopic lens design(2015-04-06) ;Sheu, Ming-Jen ;Chiang, Che-Wen ;Sun, Wen-Shing ;Wang, Jhi-JoungPan, Jui-WenA dual view capsule endoscopic (DVCE) lens is proposed with front view and back view functions. This is a hybrid lens with a catadioptric mirror and an aspherical surface to support both view functions. The field of view (FOV) for the front view function is 90 degrees. The FOV for the back view function is 260 to 290 degrees. The TV distortion for the front view and back view function is under 30% and 25%. The corner relative illuminations for the two view functions are above 0.53. The Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) performance at the Nyquist Frequency for the two view functions can be kept above 0.35, even under tolerance they can remain above 0.2. Moreover, the telecentric conditions at the image plane of the DVCE system can support constant magnification through focusing. This condition can reduce the measurement error by slightly defocusing of the lens. Thus, the two view functions can offer physicians a wide viewing angle to deal with lesions over the fold. We integrated the imprinting technology and the reflective optical element to obtain a street lamp with high illumination efficiency and without glare effect. The imprinting technique can increase the light extraction efficiency and modulate the intensity distribution in the chip level. The non-Lambertian light source was achieved by using imprinting technique. The compact reflective optical element was added to efficiently suppress the emitting light intensity with small emitting angle for the uniform of illumination intensity and excluded the light with high emitting angle for the prevention of glare. Compared to the conventional street lamp, the novel design has 40% enhancement in illumination intensity, the uniform illumination and the glare effect elimination. The software, LightTools, is applied for simulating and verifying the feasibility of the optical system. In comparison with traditional frame-type remote cameras, this study not only could acquire highly overlapped stereoscopic image pairs from different viewing angles, but could also increase the stereoscopic image pairs by two times. The system we propose obtains more stereoscopic digital terrain information than do traditional systems. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. The projection lens consists of six spherical lenses. The zoom ratio of the projection lens is 1.1. At the wide condition, the working F/# can maintain at 2.4 and the throw ratio can operate at 1.23. The root mean square (RMS) spot sizes of all fields are smaller than 15 mu m for all zoom ranges. The optical distortion and the TV distortion were suppressed to be smaller than 1.5% and 1%, respectively. For the image quality issue, the modulation transfer function (MTF) value for all fields is above 0.4 at 46 lp/mm for all zoom conditions. Even when the tolerance error was considered, the MTF value for all fields is still above 0.3 for all zoom conditions. Using this non-telecentric projection zoom lens, a very sharp image could be achieved with low cost. This low cost projection lens is very suitable for business applications. The configuration of optical system uses the right angle prism in front of the zoom lenses to change the optical path rotated by a 90(circle) angle resulting in the zoom lenses length of 6 mm. The zoom lenses can be embedded in mobile phone with a thickness of 6 mm. The zoom lenses have three groups with six elements. The half field of view is varied from 30(circle) to 10.89(circle), the effective focal length is adjusted from 3.142 mm to 9.426 mm, and the F-number is changed from 2.8 to 5.13.Item type:Item, Panoramic stereo photography based on single-lens with a double-symmetric prism(2013-04-08) ;Chen, Chien-Yue ;Deng, Qing-Long ;Sun, Wen-Shing ;Cheng, Qiao-YaoLin, Bor-ShyhDifferent from traditional panorama stereo acquisition technique shooting with numerous cameras, this study equips a double-symmetric prism in front of a single-lens camera to acquire images from four different angles of view, and the images acquired from the cameras every 20 degrees complete a pair of panorama stereo images with vertical angle of view (+/- 16 degrees) by image-based rendering. The panorama stereo acquisition technique reduces the number of cameras by three-fourth, and the acquired images contain vertical angles of view. Moreover, the image resolution is enhanced several times of the resolution of integral photography without moire effect. According to the optical simulation results and our examination of real situations, we find that hybrid light box designs combining sunlight and white LEDs do perform better than either metal-halide lamps or white LED lights. An evaluation of the sunlight concentrator system used in our inverted solar cell shows that the energy consumption of stadium lighting can be reduced significantly. The see-through retinal projector is composed of an illumination system and eyepiece system. In this eyeglass-mounted design, all the information is projected directly into the user\'s eyes using a see-through retinal projector. The retinal projector forms a 20 in. (50.8 cm) upright virtual image located 2 m in front of the human eye, and the illumination system provides uniform illumination for liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) panels. Moreover, an RGB LED array is used as the light source to generate color images with color sequences. The compact camera has a lens with an aperture of F/2.8, a half field-of-view (FOV) of 30 degrees, and 2 million pixels. This optical system design with the combination of a see-through retinal projector and a compact camera has a volume of about 5.83 cm(3) and a weight of 6.02 g.
