Item type:Item, A HOLOGRAPHIC LENSLET ARRAY DEVICE WITH VARIABLE FOCAL POWER(1993-07-01) ;TSAI, YK ;SU, DC ;HUANG, YT ;電子工程學系及電子研究所光電工程學系A holographic lenslet array device with variable focal power is presented. It consists of two holo-lenslet array components. The i x jth pair of the holo-lenslets between two components forms a channel, which has a symmetrical off-axis configuration formed by a Leith-Upatnieks holo-lenslet and a Brandt holo-lenslet. Because of its variable focal power, it is more flexible than others. It can achieve the function of multi-signal processing, and can be used as array illuminators for the optical parallel interconnect applications.Item type:Item, A QUARTER-WAVE PLATE USING SUBSTRATE-MODE HOLOGRAMS(1994-07-01) ;SU, DC ;YOO, JC ;TSAI, YK ;HUANG, YT電子工程學系及電子研究所Based on the phase shifts due to the total internal reflection and the grating diffraction, a new type of quarter-wave plate using substrate-mode holograms is presented. A sample of this device was fabricated to demonstrate its function.Item type:Item, A REFLECTION-TYPE SUBSTRATE-MODE GRATING STRUCTURE FOR WAVELENGTH-DIVISION-MULTI-DEMULTIPLEXING(1994-08-01) ;TSAI, YK ;HUANG, YT ;SU, DC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所光電工程學系We describe a technique to design and implement a wavelength-division-multi/demultiplexing device with a reflection substrate-mode grating pair in dichromated gelatin. This device is based on a diffraction volume grating pair, which provides and angularly dispersive function, to separate optical signals at different wavelengths through the dielectric substrate with total internal reflection. In this structure, the channel separation is enhanced by multiple reflections at substrate-air interfaces with a shorter longitudinal distance. Normally incident coupling and on-axis output imaging with this structure provide easier alignment with coupled optical fibers. The device with a polarization-insensitive high efficiency ( > 80 %) for 76-nm bandwidth has been fabricated.Item type:Item, A VARIABLE POWER-SYSTEM WITH HOLOGRAPHIC OPTICAL-ELEMENTS(1991-01-01) ;TSAI, YK ;YAO, HH ;SU, DC ;交大名義發表光電工程學系Based on the diffraction properties of a hololens, the principle of a variable power system is described. The important factors of the system such as cross-talk, aberrations and diffraction efficiency, are discussed. Then an optimum condition for the configuration of a symmetrical off-axis type is derived. It is achieved by combining a Leith-Upatnieks hololens and a Brandt hololens. In order to demonstrate its feasibility, a variable power system is fabricated, and its resolution is evaluated to be better than 30-mu-m.Item type:Item, GALILEAN TELESCOPE ARRAYS IN INFRARED REGION USING SUBSTRATE-MODE HOLOGRAMS(1993-05-01) ;SU, DC ;TSAI, YK ;HAUNG, YT ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsGalilean telescope arrays using substrate-mode holograms are presented. They are manufactured the visible region, and designed for operation in the infrared region. And they are formed in a monolithic block and compact, so they are easily introduced into an optical system. In addition, they do not introduce a local inversion as that in the Kepler telescope arrays.Item type:Item, MULTIBAND WAVELENGTH-DIVISION DEMULTIPLEXING WITH A CASCADED SUBSTRATE-MODE GRATING STRUCTURE(1995-09-01) ;TSAI, YK ;HUANG, YT ;SU, DC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所光電工程研究所A multiband wavelength-division-demultiplexing (WDDM) structure, which incorporates cascaded substrate-mode holograms, is presented. The method can be used to design a WDDM device that consists of two or more layers of fundamental units (i.e., substrate-mode holograms). The fundamental unit is based on a diffracted grating and a substrate that include angular dispersion, wavelength bandwidth, and total internal reflection, which can be used to separate optical signals of different wavelengths. We have designed and built a multiband WDDM device, incorporating cascaded substrate-mode holograms in dichromated gelatin.Item type:Item, MULTIBAND WAVELENGTH-DIVISION DEMULTIPLEXING WITH A CASCADED SUBSTRATE-MODE GRATING STRUCTURE(1995-09-01) ;TSAI, YK ;HUANG, YT ;SU, DC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所光電工程學系A multiband wavelength-division-demultiplexing (WDDM) structure, which incorporates cascaded substrate-mode holograms, is presented. Normally incident coupling and on-axis output imaging with this device provide easier alignment with coupled optical fibers. We have designed and fabricated wavelength-division-multiplexing devices that are implemented by polarization-insensitive high-efficiency (> 85%) substrate-mode holograms. Three-channel demultiplexing experiments have also been successfully demonstrated with the limited available wavelength range of our diode-laser system.
