Item type:Item, A MATHEMATICAL-MODEL FOR THE TOOTH GEOMETRY OF CIRCULAR-CUT SPIRAL BEVEL GEARS(1991-06-01) ;FONG, ZH ;TSAY, CB ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityA complete tooth geometry of the circular-cut spiral bevel gears has been mathematically modeled. The mathematical model has been divided into several independent modules, each representing an individual kinematic relation or tool-setting, with examples included. A comparison with the spiraloid model has also been made in this paper. The mathematical model can be applied to simulate and calculate the tooth profiles for the Duplex Method, Helical Duplex Method, Formate Method, and Modified Roll Method for circular-cut spiral bevel gears. It can also be applied to the computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining, computer-aided finite element stress analysis, and tooth contact analysis (TCA) for the spiral bevel gear.Item type:Item, A MATHEMATICAL-MODEL FOR THE TOOTH GEOMETRY OF HYPOID GEARS(1993-07-01) ;TSAY, CB ;LIN, JY ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityA mathematical model of the circular-cut hypoid gear set has been developed herein to represent the tooth surface geometry of hypoid gears. It can be applied to simulate the tooth profiles manufactured by the Duplex Method, Helical Duplex Method, and Formate Method. By applying the computer graphics and the proposed mathematical model, the profile of the hypoid gear and the precision coordinates of any tooth surface point can be obtained. The coordinates of the tooth surface can be considered as the standard for checking the profile precision of the actual products. The proposed mathematical model of the hypoid gear can also be applied to the computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining, tooth contact analysis (TCA), and finite element stress analysis.Item type:Item, A MATHEMATICAL-MODEL OF THE ZE-TYPE WORM GEAR SET(1995-08-01) ;TSAY, CB ;JENG, JW ;FENG, HS ;交大名義發表機械工程學系The mathematical model of the ZE-type worm gear set derived here is based on tool design parameters, machine tool settings, and worm and worm-gear cutting mechanisms. The backlash of the worm gear set is considered into the developed mathematical model. The developed mathematical model is most helpful in designing, contact and stress analyzing, manufacturing, measuring and optimizing worm gear sets. The profile of the fly cutter for small-lot worm-gear cutting is also investigated. Three-dimensional computer graphs of the worm gear set are presented to demonstrate the developed mathematical model.Item type:Item, COMPUTER-SIMULATION AND STRESS-ANALYSIS OF HELICAL GEARS WITH PINION CIRCULAR ARC TEETH AND GEAR INVOLUTE TEETH(1991) ;TSAY, CB ;FONG, ZH ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, DESIGN OF PENCIL-TYPE MILLING CUTTERS FOR WORM SURFACE GENERATION(1994-05-01) ;TSAY, CB ;CHANG, SL ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityThe generation mechanism for a milling cutter and worm is designed as follows: (i) the worm cylinder performs a screw motion; and (ii) the cutter rotates about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the screw motion. In this paper, a mathematical model of a worm surface is developed. The profiles of pencil-type milling cutters used to generate one side and two symmetric sides of worm surfaces are investigated. Constraints on the dimensions of pencil-type milling cutters are studied and considered in the mathematical model. The mathematical model of the cutter presented here is helpful in the design and manufacture of high precision cutters for the generation of worm tooth surfaces. Possible applications of the proposed mathematical models to the design of cutters are presented. Computer graphs of the cutters are presented also. The method proposed here can be applied also to the design of pencil-type milling cutters for generation of other screw surfaces.Item type:Item, HELICAL GEARS WITH INVOLUTE SHAPED TEETH - GEOMETRY, COMPUTER-SIMULATION, TOOTH CONTACT ANALYSIS, AND STRESS-ANALYSIS(1988-12-01) ;TSAY, CB ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系 ;National Chiao Tung UniversityDepartment of Mechanical EngineeringItem type:Item, ON THE MANUFACTURING TOLERANCE OF DISK CAM PROFILE(1993-02-01) ;WANG, WH ;TSENG, CH ;TSAY, CB ;LING, SF機械工程學系For a given rocker-roller cam system, the mathematical expression of the cam profile was first derived from the desired displacement function utilizing theory of gearing and differential geometry. Furthermore, the variance in the cam profile due to cutting tolerance was modelled using the Monte-Carlo method as set of normally-distributed random numbers. Based on these models, the deviation from the desired motion resulting from manufacturing imprecision can be calculated by reversing the procedure. An optimization scheme was then employed to identify the optimal configuration which minimizes the motion deviation. It is found that the kinematic error of the mechanism can be minimized if the pressure angle of the mechanism remains small. Also the usefulness of the methodology developed for designing a rocker-roller cam mechanism taking the fabricating error of the cam profiles into consideration is demonstrated.Item type:Item, THE MATHEMATICAL-MODEL OF WILDHABER-NOVIKOV GEARS APPLICABLE TO FINITE-ELEMENT STRESS-ANALYSIS(1989) ;TSAY, CB ;FONG, ZH ;TAO, S ;機械工程學系Department of Mechanical EngineeringItem type:Item, THE UNDERCUTTING OF CIRCULAR-CUT SPIRAL BEVEL GEARS(1992-06-01) ;FONG, ZH ;TSAY, CB ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityUndercutting is a serious problem in designing spiral bevel gears with small numbers of teeth. Conditions of undercutting for spiral bevel gears vary with the manufacturing methods. Based on the theory of gearing [1], the tooth geometry of the Gleason type circular-cut spiral bevel gear is mathematically modeled. The sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence and regularity of the generated gear tooth surfaces are investigated. The conditions of undercutting for a circular-cut spiral bevel gear are defined by the sufficient conditions of the regular gear tooth surface. The derived undercutting equations can be applicable for checking the undercutting conditions of spiral bevel gears manufactured by the Gleason Duplex Method, Helical Duplex Method, Fixed Setting Method, and Modified Roll Method. An example is included to illustrate the application of the proposed undercut checking equations.Item type:Item, TOOTH CONTACT ANALYSIS FOR HELICAL GEARS WITH PINION CIRCULAR ARC TEETH AND GEAR INVOLUTE SHAPED TEETH(1989-06-01) ;TSAY, CB ;FONG, ZH ;交大名義發表 ;機械工程學系National Chiao Tung University
