Item type:Item, 3D Air-Touch User Interface With High Touch Accuracy on Stereoscopic Displays(2016-05) ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Jen, Tai-Hsiang ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Shieh, Han-Ping D.Huang, Yi-PaiTo interact with stereoscopic images through 3D air-touch technology, the depth information for a touched 3D virtual object and the fingertip position should be aligned accurately. However, the fused 3D position is affected when the virtual object is blocked by the fingertip. Additionally, the 3D image with a large disparity decreases 3D touch accuracy. In order to improve the touch accuracy, virtual references and 3D image feedback were introduced respectively, and the touch accuracy was more than 90% based on a human interaction experiment.Item type:Item, 3D Interactive System Using Integral Photography by Embedded Optical Sensors for Portable Devices(2016-11) ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;光電工程學系顯示科技研究所An air-touch interactive system for portable devices is presented. An embedded optical sensor based on this approach was developed to realize a lightweight and thin-form-factor three-dimensional (3-D) interactive system. Using integral photography, the 3-D coordinates of an object are calculated. Moreover, the micro-lens array is implemented to improve the working range to 80 mm and achieve a position error of less than 5 mm. The spatial resolution in x-y and z domains is 1 and 5 mm, respectively. In addition, this system can also support a gesture vector sensing function in the far field up to 150 mm.Item type:Item, Development of Time-Multiplexed Backlight on Auto-stereoscopic LCD for Multi-user and Wide-viewing Angle Function(2012-01-01) ;Huang, Yi-Pai ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Hsu, Ching-Yi ;Yang, Che-Hsuan光電工程學系Current Time-Multiplexed backlight system can only produce a single user 3D display. Thus, a multi-user 3D film was proposed to add in front of the directional sequential backlight system and make the display for three users. Furthermore, a high resolution time-multiplexed backlight with tracking system for multi-user applicable wide-viewing auto-stereoscopic LCD was proposed. By utilizing an adjustable fine-stripe (AFS) backlight structure with a temporal switched 120Hz LCD, the 3D image could be displayed on high resolution, thus multi-user can observe wide-viewing 3D images at the same time.Item type:Item, High-resistance liquid-crystal lens array for rotatable 2D/3D autostereoscopic display(2014-02-10) ;Chang, Yu-Cheng ;Jen, Tai-Hsiang ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Huang, Yi-Pai光電工程學系A 2D/3D switchable and rotatable autostereoscopic display using a high-resistance liquid-crystal (Hi-R LC) lens array is investigated in this paper. Using high-resistance layers in an LC cell, a gradient electric-field distribution can be formed, which can provide a better lens-like shape of the refractive-index distribution. The advantages of the Hi-R LC lens array are its 2D/3D switchability, rotatability (in the horizontal and vertical directions), low driving voltage (similar to 2 volts) and fast response (similar to 0.6 second). In addition, the Hi-R LC lens array requires only a very simple fabrication process. The liquid crystal (LC) lens has the advantages of low driving voltages (<6 V-rms) and a simple structure for which the fabrication only requires two photolithography processes. A partial lens array can be formed arbitrarily using a passive driving method. Finally, we demonstrate a 3.5-in partially switchable 2D/3D display that can present partial 3D images with 10.8% crosstalk and partial 2D images without resolution degradation.Item type:Item, Multi-user 3D film on a time-multiplexed side-emission backlight system(2016-10-01) ;Ting, Chih-Hung ;Chang, Yu-Cheng ;Chen, Chun-Ho ;Huang, Yi-PaiTsai, Han-WenThe desirable features for a portable 3D display include displaying 2D and 3D images without resolution degradation for multiple users, a 2D/3D switchable functionality, and, in particular, a compact volume. To produce a portable 3D display with these desirable features, we propose here a multi-user 3D film combined with a side-emission backlight system that has a directional-sequential light distribution. According to the simulation and experimental results, the multi-user 3D film successfully uses an inverted trapezoid structure to separate the rays of each light source and increases the number of observers from one to three. Additionally, the specification of the inverted trapezoid structure can be determined via equations for different designated viewing positions of the side observer and for the ratio of light intensities for the central and side observers. Holography has great potential to achieve the objective because holography can actually reconstruct the recorded object in space by reconstruction of wavefront. Further, computer generated hologram (CGH) is used to solve the major issue of conventional holography, which means the recoding process is quite complicated and needs the real objects. The reconstructed image, however, will be blurred and with the unexpected light if using only one phase-only spatial light modulator (PSLM). Although to use two PSLMs by dual-phase modulation method (DPMM) can modulate the phase and the amplitude information simultaneously to enhance the quality of the reconstructed image, it is hard to use in practical application because of the extremely high accurate calibration of the two PSLMs. Therefore, double phase hologram (DPH) was proposed to use only one PSLM to modulate the phase and the amplitude information simultaneously to make the reconstructed image be more focused and eliminate the unexpected light.
