Item type:Item, A Novel Message Passing Based MIMO-OFDM Data Detector with a Progressive Parallel ICI Canceller(2011-04-01) ;Huang, Chao-Wang ;Ting, Pang-An ;Huang, Chia-Chi ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesA joint design of message passing MIMO data detector/decoder with progressive parallel inter-carrier interference canceller (PPIC) based on factor graph for OFDM-based wireless communication systems is proposed. By exchanging messages both in space domain and frequency domain, the proposed algorithm can suppress inter-antenna interferences and cancel inter-carrier interferences iteratively and progressively. With a proper designed message passing schedule and random inter-leaver, the short cycle problem is solved. Computer simulations show that the performance of the proposed message passing MIMO detector outperforms MMSE-SIC MIMO detector. The performances of PPIC, both in perfect channel estimation and imperfect channel estimation cases, are compared with the standard PIC architecture and the ICI self-canceller. The proposed PPIC is superior to PIC both in computational complexity and system architecture. The parallel structure of PPIC is similar to a systolic array. The proposed algorithm potentially leads to a very-high-speed detector/decoder. It is very suitable for VLSI implementation and it is a potential candidate for data detection/decoding in future high data rate, high mobility, wireless MIMO-OFDM communication systems.Item type:Item, Extrinsic Data Compression Method for Double-Binary Turbo Codes(2012) ;Ou-Yang, Yi-Huan ;Kao, Chien-Yu ;Hsu, Jen-Yuan ;Ting, Pang-AnLee, Chen-YiThis paper presents an extrinsic data compression method for double-binary turbo codes. Frame and extrinsic data memory occupy more area in turbo decoder implementations with the frame size increasing. Besides, non-binary turbo codes have much more extrinsic memory usage than single-binary turbo codes. This proposed compression method utilizes an operation in radix-4 single-binary turbo decoder and also can simplify the integration of single and double-binary turbo decoders in hardware implementations. It can reduce one-third of extrinsic memory size, about 15% of total memory usage. Simulation results show that this method only causes 0.2dB performance loss when bit error rate is equal to 10-5 with slight hardware increment.Item type:Item, Reduced Complexity MIMO Equal Gain Precoding(2009) ;Tsai, Shang-Ho ;Ting, Pang-An ;Chen, Cheng-Ming ;Kao, Chien-Yu電控工程研究所We propose a simple search algorithm to reduce the computational complexity and power consumption for equal gain precoder. Simulation results show that the equal gain precoder with the proposed search algorithm can achieve nearly the same performance as that of the Grassmannian precoder. The proposed search algorithm shows several advantages in practical implementation as will be explained later in this paper.
