Item type:Item, A Note on "Capability Assessment for Processes with Multiple Characteristics: A Generalization of the Popular Index Cpk"(2013-03-01) ;Pearn, W. L. ;Wu, C. H. ;Tsai, M. C. ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementThe generalized yield index C-pk(T) establishes the relationship between the manufacturing specifications and the actual process performance, which provides a lower bound on process yield for two-sided processes with multiple characteristics. The results attended are very practical for industrial application. In this article, we extended the results in cases with one-sided specification and multiple characteristics. The generalized index C-PU(T) was considered, and the asymptotic distribution of the natural estimator (C)over-cap(PU)(T) was developed. Then, we derived the lower confidence bounds as well as the critical values of index C-PU(T). We not only provided some tables but also presented an application example. H. ;Tsai, M. C. ;Chen, Y. F. ;電子物理學系Department of ElectrophysicsAn Nd:YVO4 laser with a convex-plano cavity is systematically studied to demonstrate the manipulation of output polarization state by using the birefringent thermal lensing effect of the gain crystal. Based on the theoretical analysis of the cavity stability under the influence of thermal lens, the polarization state of output emission is experimentally confirmed that can be controlled to switch from pure pi- to pure sigma-polarization by simply varying the pump focus position from the tight-focusing to defocusing conditions. More importantly, it is found that there exists an adequate pump focus position within the switching region to lead the pi- and sigma-polarization to have balanced gain for achieving a stable self-mode-locked laser with orthogonally polarized components. Under the orthogonally polarized mode-locked operation, the pulse repetition rates are found to be 2.23 and 2.33 GHz for the pi- and sigma-polarization with pulse duration to be 16.1 and 15.1 ps, respectively. J. ;Tsai, M. C. ;Wang, Z. C. ;Peng, H. L.Tsai, C. H.This paper presents the performance of Pt deposited by different deposition methods, including electrodeposition, e-gun, and sputtering on a carbon cloth as a cathode in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) system. The results indicate that Pt deposited by electrodeposition exhibits the highest active efficiency on hydrogen electroabsorption. According to XPS fitting results, the amount of Pt (0), zero-valent Pt, existing in Pt deposited on carbon cloth by electrodeposition was larger than that in Pt deposited by e-gun and sputtering. The cyclic voltammogram analyses also show more real active surface area of Pt deposited by electrodeposition, mostly contributed by its smaller particle size/shape and higher catalytic effect. Besides, the total impedance of Pt deposited by electrodeposition was lower than that of Pt deposited by e-gun and sputtering from EIS measurement at 0.1 Hz. Applied to MFC system, the highest power density was manifested and the least Pt loading were observed for the Pt deposited on carbon cloth by electrodeposition. It is therefore can be concluded that the electrodeposited-Pt exhibit superior performance as a cathode for future MFC applications. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
