Therefore, the traditional client/server architecture has been gradually replaced by P2P structure. The collaborated computing system for load sharing takes the advantages of P2P system. In this paper, the collaborated computing system was utilized based on the case of analyzing the robustness of digital watermark by filter bank selection. As the result of this case, the performance can be improved in the aspect of speedup, efficiency and process time.Item type:Item, A generic software framework for the software system architecture design and implementation of handset devices(2005) ;Liu, PC ;Tsai, MJ ;Chen, DJ ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceThe traditional approach to develop user interface for handset devices has limited flexibility on the UI requirement changes. Once the UI requirement changed, programmers have to change their handcrafted application once again. This change may occur repeatedly until the UI requirement under consideration is satisfied. Visual-Based Software Construction Methodology has been developed This methodology helps programmers to develop the user interface for handset devices, and allows programmers to migrate their program to new platform quickly. Based on this methodology, we quest for a generic software framework to incorporate the proposed methodology for developing user interface to alleviate the problems mentioned above. From our study, there are some similarities exist among user interface and software framework in different handset devices. In this paper, we propose a generic software framework for the system architecture design of handset devices. Specifically, the software framework generated based on the genetic software framework will be much easier for maintenance and management compared Kith the traditional approach. In addition, the software framework hat is instantiated from the generic software framework can be incorporated into the visual requirement authoring system for user interface development. Finally, we design and construct a simulator to demonstrate the applicability and usefulness of the software framework generated by the proposed generic software framework.Item type:Item, A novel dynamic threshold voltage MOSFET (DTMOS) using heterostructure channel of Si1-yCy interlayer(2005-10-01) ;Shieh, MS ;Chen, PS ;Tsai, MJ ;Lei, TF電子工程學系及電子研究所We have demonstrated the fabrication of dynamic threshold voltage MOSFET (DTMOS) using the Si1-yCy(y = 0.005) incorporation inerlayer channel. Compare to conventional Si-DTMOS, the introduction of the Si1-yCy interlayer for this device is realized by super-steep-retrograde (SSR) channel profiles due to the retardation of boron diffusion. A low surface channel impurity with heavily doped substrate can be achieved simultaneously. This novel Si1-yCy channel heterostructure MOSFET exhibits higher transconductance and turn on current.Item type:Item, Broadcasting on wormhole-routed 2D tori with arbitrary size(1998) ;Hou, YM ;Wang, CM ;Tsai, MJ ;Hsu, LH資訊工程學系For distributed memory parallel computers, broadcast operations are widely used in a variety of applications. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for broadcasting on an all-port wormhole-routed 2D tents with arbitrary size. The underlying network is assumed to support only the dimension-ordered unicast. By taking the advantage of the all-port model and the distance insensitivity of the wormhole routing, the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce the number of message-passing steps. In addition, it can be proved to be depth contention-free. The performance study in this paper clearly shows the advantage of the proposed algorithm.Item type:Item, Color image compression by STACK-RUN-END coding(1998) ;Tsai, MJ ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceItem type:Item, Complementary carbon nanotube-gated carbon nanotube thin-film transistor(2006-02-27) ;Chen, BH ;Lin, HC ;Huang, TY ;Wei, JHWang, HHWe introduce, a complementary carbon nanotube (CNT)-gated CNT thin-film field effect transistor (FET). By using two perpendicularly crossed single-wall CNT (SWNT) bundles as the gate and the channel interchangeably, a sub-50 nm complementary CNT-FET is demonstrated. It is found that the new CNT-FET shows acceptable FET characteristics by interchanging the roles of the gate and the channel. The unique dual functionality of the device will open up a new possibility and flexibility in the design of future complementary CNT electronic circuits. The purpose of this study was to develop an Internet attitude scale for high school students. Through both revising a previous scale proposed by Selwyn (1997) [Selwyn, N. (1997), Students' attitudes toward computers: validation of a computer attitude scale for 16-19 education. Computers & Education, 28(1), 35-41] and writing new items, this study developed an Internet Attitude Scale of 18 items, with the following four subscales: perceived usefulness, affection? perceived control, and behavior. This study also explored gender differences on the scale, and the relationship between Internet experience and students' responses on the scale. Research data gathered from 753 Taiwan high school students revealed that students of different gender and various Internet experiences did not show statistical differences on the perceptions toward the potential usefulness of the Internet subscale. However, male students tended to express more positive feeling, lower anxiety, and higher confidence toward using the Internet than female students. Students having more Internet experience tended to show similar positive attitudes than those of less experience. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. For electron-only devices, the electron current is reduced by the traps for several orders of magnitude at fixed voltage, and the traps strongly increase the transient time. For bipolar devices, due to negative trapped charges, traps enhance the hole current and the total current, opposite to the electron-only devices. The traps also make the recombination region close to the cathode. There is a voltage-dependent critical trap density beyond which the quantum efficiency decreases and transient time rises dramatically. The quantum efficiency is doubled if the hole traps are added to balance the electron and hole injections. Finally, the trap effect can be used in a bilayer light-emitting diode to make the emission color-tunable. Advanced researches have intensively investigated the characteristics of wavelet filters, adaptive wavelet decomposition structure for coding optimization and different combination of mathematical operations for digital image watermarking implementations. Among these studies, there are researches shown that the combination of wavelet filters or filter bank decomposition structure can be implemented as the function of the keys for the watermarking. Even this property provides the flexibility for practical usage, the false alarm of the rightful ownership verification is essentially existed since the resolution requirement for the transformed coefficients can be less demanded than other applications like compression or encryption. Therefore, this study has investigated and discussed the issues and proposed a solution which utilizes the distinguishing index as the selection criterion for wavelet based digital image watermarking in order to increase the difficulty of guessing the right filter banks, in the mean time, to reduce the probability of the misjudgment.Item type:Item, Information searching strategies in Web-based science learning: The role of Internet self-efficacy(2003-02-01) ;Tsai, MJ ;Tsai, CC ;師資培育中心Center of Teacher EducationThe purpose of this study was to explore students' information searching strategies in Web-based science learning activities and further examine the influence of students' Internet self-efficacy on these strategies. Eight subjects were randomly selected from a pool of 73 college freshmen based on mixed genders and Internet self-efficacy levels. In-depth case studies and comparisons were used to analyse subjects' Web-based searching and learning achievement, online searching strategies and the role of Internet self-efficacy. The results showed evidence that high Internet self-efficacy students had better information searching strategies and learned better than those with low Internet self-efficacy in a Web-based learning task. This study further proposed a framework for analysing Web-based searching strategies. This study also reflected the importance of explicitly helping students acquire better metacognitive Web searching strategies.Item type:Item, Investigation of the dosage effect on the activation of arsenic- and boron-implanted low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) amorphous-silicon films(1996-02-01) ;Wang, FS ;Tsai, MJ ;Lai, WK ;Cheng, HC電子工程學系及電子研究所The dopant activation of arsenic- and boron-implanted low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) amorphous silicon (cu-Si) films, furnace-annealed with different annealing temperatures has been investigated. For the arsenic-implanted specimens with a dosage of 4 x 10(14) cm(-2), an increase of sheet resistance was observed with increasing annealing temperature for the temperatures range from 700 to 850 degrees C. The reverse annealing phenomenon is attributed to dopant segregation at grain boundaries and becomes less marked with heavier doped films (2 x 10(15) cm(-2)). Consequently for a dosage of 1 x 10(16) cm(-2), the sheet resistance exhibits a monotonic decrease with increasing annealing temperature. As for the boron-implanted specimens, the reverse annealing phenomenon is not observed. It means that dopant segregation is not significant for boron-implanted films.Item type:Item, Joint wavelet and spatial transformation for digital watermarking(2000-02-01) ;Tsai, MJ ;Yu, KY ;Chen, YZ ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceA new watermarking scheme which incorporates wavelet and spatial transformation has been del eloped for digital images in this paper. This algorithm utilizes the wavelet multiresolutional structure to construct the image frequency components and the chaotic transformation as two dimensional integer vector generators for spatial transform to select the location during the watermark embedding. To efficiently embed the watermark; within the image without the loss of image quality and provide the robustness for the watermark detection under attacks, a modular based spatial threshold and adjustment scheme of the wavelet coefficients has been developed in this research. Unlike other watermarking schemes which usually rely on significantly large amount of side information for watermark detection, our algorithm need only few key parameters to detect the watermark with meaningful content. Compared with some known approaches of watermarking schemes, this algorithm results in superior robustness and information protection fur beeping watermark intact under image processing attacks like image: compression.Item type:Item, Localized lateral growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes for field-effect transistors by a cobalt-mix-TEOS method(2005) ;Chen, BH ;Lo, PY ;Wei, JH ;Tsai, MJHwang, CLLateral-growth carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were fabricated in a pre-assigned area using an integrated circuit compatible method. In order to synthesize single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT) for the fabrication of a field-effect transistor (FET), the cobalt-mix-tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) (CMT) solution is proposed. The CMT solution has the unique property of dispersing the cobalt (Co) catalyst well and uniformly embedding it in a predetermined location after the CMT solution has solidified. The lateral growth of bundle-SWNT could be formed in atmospheric chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) with ethanol. This algorithm utilizes multiary symbol set to represent the meaningful coefficients in the wavelet transform domain which are necessary for the image reconstruction in the respective color channel. The scheme works first by color space conversion, followed by raster scanning the individual subband for data conversion to symbol representation Adaptive arithmetic coder is then used to compress the symbols with high efficiency. Unlike zerotree coding or its variations which are essentially the intersubband coding approach with the complexity in addressing the location relationship across the subbands, this work is a low complexity intrasubband based coding method with context specification within the subband, and termination symbol across subbands. Compared with the zerotree refined schemes, this algorithm results in competitive PSNR values and perceptually high quality images at the same compression ratio for color image compression.Item type:Item, Study on the interface thermal stability of metal-oxide-semiconductor structures by inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy(2006-06-26) ;Huang, CF ;Tsui, BY ;Tzeng, PJ ;Lee, LSTsai, MJThe bias polarity-dependent inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy is employed to detect the thermal stability of the Ta-Pt/SiO2/Si and Ta-Pt/HfO2/Si structures. This work provides a direct evidence that the Fermi-level pinning of metal gates is counted for the generation of extrinsic states due to interface interaction. A Ta2O5 layer forms at the Ta-Pt/SiO2 interface during thermal annealing whereas only an intermittent Ta-O bond is observed at the Ta-Pt/HfO2 interface. Although the heat of formation of HfO2 is lower than that of SiO2, Si presumably diffuses into HfO2 layer and replaces Hf atoms during the high-temperature annealing. By optimizing the polishing conditions, a smooth strained-Si surface on a flattened Si0.8Ge0.2 buffer layer of 0.6 nm can be achieved. The novel cleaning solutions with various surfactants and chelating agents for post-CMP SiGe were studied. There was about 10% current enhancement of the optimal cleaning conditions, showing high performance in particle removal, metallic cleaning, and electrical characteristics. However, EDI are basically designed for the description of the text type data and does not support the multimedia information. With the booming of the Internet, VAN is apparently with much less popularity and limited accessibility and business globalization is in an inevitable trend. To reach the potential customers easier and faster through the wide accessible Internet, making business on the Internet has much lower cost than on the VAN. As long as the security issue could be well guarded with reliable connection, e-commerce will become main business model in the near future. To achieve this goal, an approach by using widely existing e-mail system in the business environment is developed, In this paper, we propose a complete business EDIINT (electronic data interchange over Internet) through e-mail system by supporting UN/EDIFACT and MIME for-mats and prove its feasibility and flexibility. In addition, multimedia service and applications are also provided.Item type:Item, The VoiceXML dialog system for the e-commerce ordering service(2005) ;Tsai, MJ ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceThe web-based application by VoiceXML service on the Internet is gradually accepted for human-machine interaction because it provides the speech-enabled functionality and makes the telephone access a reality. However, it is not cost efficient to build voice only stand-alone web implementation and is more reasonable that voice interfaces should be retrofitted to be compatible or collaborated with the existing HTML or XML based web applications. Therefore, this paper considers that the functionality of the web site should enable multiple access modalities so that human beings can perceive and interact with either visual or speech response simultaneously. Under this principle, our research develops an integrated web based Mandarin dialog system which adopts ASR, TTS, VoiceXML browser, and VoIP technologies to create user friendly interfaces of GUI and VUI. The users can use either traditional telephone, cellular phone connection, or even VoIP by personal computer to interact with the VoiceXML server. In the mean time, the users browse the web and access the same content. The prototype system shows excellent performance and can be easily implemented into e-commerce ordering service for wide accessibility.Item type:Item, Very low bit rate color image compression by using stack-run-end coding(2000-05-01) ;Tsai, MJ ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceA low complexity wavelet based image coding algorithm for color image compression is presented in this paper. The key renovation of this algorithm is that a small number of symbol set was designed to convert the information from the wavelet transform domain into a compact data structure for each subband. The scheme works first by color space conversion, followed by uniform scalar quantization and data conversion where raster scanning order is performed for individual subband and quantized coefficients are converted into the symbol stream according to the designed symbol representation. Two different context lists in each subband are specified from the symbol stream and alternatively compressed by adaptive arithmetic coder with high efficiency. Unlike zerotree coding or its variations which utilize the intersubband relationship into its own data representation, our work is a low complexity intrasubband based coding method which only addresses the information within the subband. The only extension is the termination symbols which carry the zero value information towards the end of the subband or across the subbands till the end of the image. Compared with the zerotree refined schemes. this algorithm results in competitive PSNR values and perceptually high quality images at the same compression ratio for color image compression.Item type:Item, Wavelet transform based digital watermarking for image authentication(2005) ;Tsai, MJ ;Hung, HY ;資訊管理與財務金融系 註:原資管所+財金所Department of Information Management and FinanceThe rapid expansion of the Internet and the recent advance of digital technologies have sharply increased the availability of digital media. This paper is to investigate a wavelet based semi-fragile watermarking technique for image authentication. Image protection is achieved by the insertion of a secret wavelet tree based binary image signature (WTS) after wavelet decomposition followed by the quantization procedure. In addition, adaptive tuning steps are performed for the selected watermarked coefficients in order to increase the elasticity of watermark. During the verification, the original unmarked image is not needed for comparison. The detection of unauthorized tampering within the image is claimed by comparison with the possibly modified image's WTS and the authentic one.
