Item type:Item, 14-in diagonal size nanotip-enhanced plasma lamp in liquid crystal display(2008-08-01) ;Tsai, Po-Chuan ;Kim, Sun-O ;光電工程學系 ;顯示科技研究所Department of PhotonicsThe characteristics of nanotip-enhanced plasma lamps (NTL) as a backlight for liquid crystal displays have been investigated on a 14-in panel. Using a direct-current pulse bipolar waveform driving, the NTL operates with lower ignition and sustain voltages below 3011 V compared with conventional plasma lamps due to the tiny discharge gap between the indium tin oxide electrode and nanotip electrodes. Luminous efficiencies of 16 lm/W at the lowest ignition voltage of 150 V have been realized for NTL,, which correspond to 3780 cd/m(2) of luminance in 260 V with 50 torr of pure xenon gas.Item type:Item, Two-Stage Chemical Bath Deposition for Well-Covered and Stoichiometric ZnS Thin Films(2012) ;Tsai, Po-Chuan ;Pai, Ian ;Shieh, Han-Ping D. ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA two-stage chemical bath deposition (CBD) was reported to modify the thin film deposition of zinc sulfide (ZnS) material, which is a promising candidate as a buffer layer in chalcopyrite solar cells. During the proposed process, two bath temperatures were used subsequently: substrates were immersed in the bath with temperature 85 degrees C for first-stage deposition, followed by the bath with temperature 70 degrees C for the second-stage deposition. As a result, the ZnS film deposited by the proposed two-stage CBD process demonstrated the more desirable film coverage and stoichiometric Zn/S ratio on the soda lime glass substrate than the one without.
