Item type:Item, A High Efficiency and Compact Size 65nm Power Management Module with 1.2V Low-Voltage PWM Controller for UWB System Application(2009) ;Lee, Yu-Huei ;Wang, Shih-Jung ;Yang, Yao-Yi ;Zheng, Kuo-LinChen, Po-FungThis 65 nm power management module with 1.2 V low-voltage PWM controller aims to integrate with ultra-wideband (UWB) system to get high efficiency and compact size. The on-chip pre-regulator with power conditioning circuit provides a constant and noiseless supply voltage. Thus, the voltage variation of battery has less effect on the low-voltage PWM controller. The proposed compensation enhancement multistage amplifier (CEMA) increases system loop gain and stabilizes the system without off-chip compensation circuit. With excellent line/load transient response, the proposed power management has the highest efficiency about 92% and 0.995 mm(2) silicon die area.Item type:Item, Sub-1 V Input Single-Inductor Dual-Output (SIDO) DC-DC Converter With Adaptive Load-Tracking Control (ALTC) for Single-Cell-Powered Systems(2010-07-01) ;Huang, Ming-Hsin ;Tsai, Yu-Nong ;Chen, Ke-Horng ;電機工程學系電控工程研究所In this paper, a sub-1 V input single-inductor dual-output (SIDO) dc-dc converter with an adaptive load-tracking control (ALTC) technology is proposed for single-cell-powered portable devices. Having a minimal number of switches and an optimum current sequence, the proposed ALTC technique adaptively and accurately adjusts storage energy in the form of inductor current according to the actual load condition, without wasting surplus charge and without increasing cross regulation. Moreover, a current-mode ring oscillator with a self-bias current source circuit, in place of the conventional start-up ring oscillator, is proposed to produce a nearly constant system clock for the requirement of sub-1 V start-up procedure. Because the proposed current-mode ring oscillator operates between the start-up process and steady state of the SIDO dc-dc converter, its simplified design efficiently addresses the high switching frequency losses at sub-1 V start-up procedure, reducing chip area and power consumption. The proposed sub-1 V input SIDO dc-dc converter was fabricated via Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company 0.25 mu m 2.5 V/5 V Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS process, and the experimental results show high efficiency of 92% with a good cross regulation smaller than 10 mV.Item type:Item, Sub-1V Input Single-Inductor Dual-Output (SIDO) DC-DC Converter with Adaptive Load-Tracking Control (ALTC) for Single-Cell-Powered System(2009) ;Huang, Ming-Hsin ;Tsai, Yu-Nong ;Lee, Yu-Huei ;Wang, Shih-JungChen, Ke-HorngIn this paper, a sub-1V input single-inductor dual-output (SIDO) DC-DC converter with an adaptive load-tracking control (ALTC) technique is proposed for single-cell-powered portable devices. The ALTC technique adaptively and accurately adjusts storage charge in form of the inductor current according to actual load condition without wasting surplus charge and increasing cross-regulation through the use of minimized the number of switch and optimum current sequence. A current-mode ring oscillator with a self-bias current source (SBCS) circuit is proposed to replace conventional startup oscillator to produce a nearly constant system clock. The test chip was fabricated by TSMC 0.25 mu m 2.5 V/5 V BCD process and experimental results show a high efficiency of 92 % and a cross- regulation smaller than 10 mV.
