Item type:Item, A computerized system of nail-fold capillaroscopy for dry eye disease diagnosis(2012-12-01) ;Hou, Mark C. ;Huang, Sheng-Chieh ;Wang, Hui-Min ;Tseng, Cheng-LungLo, Lun-ChienNail-fold Capillaroscopy is a convenient and non-invasive tool to evaluate peripheral circulation. Rheumatic diseases such as Raynaud's disease and systemic sclerosis are investigated mostly by nail-fold capillaroscopy. However, it has not been used popularly due to the lack of golden standard in both measurement procedure and objective quantity analysis. This study proposes a computerized system of nail-fold capillaroscopy (CNC). CNC includes standard measurement procedures and three criterions of microcirculation which are capillary density, capillary width and blood flow velocity. CNC is applied to the images of 36 normal subjects and seven patients of dry eye disease (DED). We found density and width of afferent capillary were the better parameters to identify DED (p < 0.05). CNC could be a good auxiliary diagnostic tool for DED.Item type:Item, Forecasting of CO2 emissions, energy consumption and economic growth in China using an improved grey model(2012-04-01) ;Pao, Hsiao-Tien ;Fu, Hsin-Chia ;Tseng, Cheng-Lung ;資訊工程學系管理科學系Analyses and forecasts of carbon emissions, energy consumption and real outputs are key requirements for clean energy economy and climate change in rapid growth market such as China. This paper employs the nonlinear grey Bernoulli model (NGBM) to predict these three indicators and proposes a numerical iterative method to optimize the parameter of NGBM. The forecasting ability of NGBM with optimal parameter model, namely NGBM-OP has remarkably improved, compared to the GM and ARIMA. The MAPEs of NGBM-OP for out-of-sample (2004-2009) are ranging from 1.10 to 6.26. The prediction results show that China's compound annual emissions, energy consumption and real GDP growth is set to 4.47%, -0.06% and 6.67%, respectively between 2011 and 2020. The co-integration results show that the long-run equilibrium relationship exists among these three indicators and emissions appear to be real output inelastic and energy consumption elastic. The estimated values cannot support an EKC hypothesis, and real output is significantly negative impact on emissions. In order to promote economic and environmental quality, the results suggest that China should adopt the dual strategy of increasing energy efficiency, reducing the loss in power transmission and distribution and stepping up energy conservation policies to reduce any unnecessary wastage of energy. Mahler's Second Symphony was used for this MT. There are various elements in Mahler's second symphony, with string, wind, drum, and even voice; providing the subject a strong and dynamic stimulation. There are some significant changes after 14-day stimulation: both standard deviation of all normal RR intervals (SDNN) and root mean square successive differences (RMSSD) in heart rate variability of the subject increased, indicating the activity of the cardiovascular system was enhanced. Although there's only one subject in this experiment, the results are still encouraging.Item type:Item, Twin-Peak Effect in Both Cardiac Response and Tempo of Popular Music(2011) ;Shih, Yi-Sen ;Zhang, Wen-Chih ;Lee, Yaw-Chern ;Lei, Chun-YangTseng, Cheng-LungHow the musical tempo affects the performance of heart rate variability (HRV) was studied in this work. By understanding the relationship between the HRV response and the music tempo with decreasing tempo from 140 to 70 beats per minute (bpm) periodically in six successive weeks. There were two groups in the experiment, one was listening drum loop music 3 minutes in the middle of experiment and the other was just rest for 20 minutes. After the processed the information from the objects, the distribution of difference of HRV response between before and after listening various tempo drum loop was similar to the distribution of modern popular music in tempo. Both distributions have the twin peaks about 70-85 and 110-125 bpm.
