Item type:Item, Energy consumption and CO2 emission in Taiwan\'s iron-steel industries(2016) ;Hu, Jin-Li ;Chen, Chiang-Ping ;Chen, Yen-Haw ;Tso, Chunto經營管理研究所This article investigates an empirical model to provide a reference for policies or regulations of energy consumption and greenhouse gas reduction in the iron and steel industry. Crude steel production is used to evaluate the energy consumption level and carbon dioxide emissions of Taiwan\'s iron and steel industry during the period 1982 to 2009. Empirical findings show that the annual growth rate of blast furnaces is on average lower than the annual growth rate of electric arc furnaces. When economic growth and the effect from energy saving are considered, an inverted U-shaped trend is observed in the energy consumption of crude steel. Moreover, carbon dioxide emissions are found to be the lowest at the economic growth rate between 2% to 4% and an energy saving rate of 0.6%, corresponding to 24.35 and 32.36 million tons in 2010 and 2020, respectively, will reduce to 29.9 million tons in 2050.Item type:Item, ENERGY DEMAND FORECASTING FOR TAIWAN'S ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY(2012) ;Pan, Ching-Ti ;Hu, Jin-Li ;Tso, Chunto ;經營管理研究所Institute of Business and ManagementThis paper develops 3 different SARIMA models to forecast energy demand in Taiwan's electronic parts and components manufacturing industry. The empirical findings show that the relative growth rate of energy demand in Q2 is higher than that in Q1, but the relative growth rate of energy demand in Q4 is lower than that in Q1. In addition, the relative growth rate of energy demand increasing is accompanied by the relative growth rate of Taiwan's total exports rising. On the contrary, the relative growth rate of the USD exchange rate to the new Taiwan dollar has a slight counter effect on the relative growth rate of energy demand. The results forecast that the total annual energy demand in Taiwan's electronic parts and components manufacturing industry will increase from 1,390 to 20,582 KKLOE during the period of 2010-2020.
