Item type:Item, A high quality liquid-type quantum dot white light-emitting diode(2016-01-01) ;Sher, Chin-Wei ;Lin, Chin-Hao ;Lin, Huang-Yu ;Lin, Chien-ChungHuang, Che-HsuanThis study demonstrates a novel package design to store colloidal quantum dots in liquid format and integrate them with a standard LED. The high efficiency and high quality color performance at a neutral white correlated color temperature is demonstrated. The experimental results indicate that the liquid-type quantum dot white light-emitting diode (LQD WLED) is highly efficient and reliable. The luminous efficiency and color rendering index (CRI) of the LQD WLED can reach 271 lm W-op(-1) and 95, respectively. Moreover, a glass box is employed to prevent humidity and oxygen erosion. With this encapsulation design, our quantum dot box can survive over 1000 hours of storage time.Item type:Item, A high quality liquid-type quantum dot white light-emitting diode (vol 8, pg 1117, 2016)(2018-04-07) ;Sher, Chin-Wei ;Lin, Chih-Hao ;Lin, Huang-Yu ;Lin, Chien-ChungHuang, Che-HsuanItem type:Item, Excellent Color Quality of White-Light-Emitting Diodes by Embedding Quantum Dots in Polymers Material(2016-01-01) ;Lin, Huang-Yu ;Wang, Sheng-Wen ;Lin, Chien-Chung ;Chen, Kuo-JuHan, Hau-VeiThis study employs the polyfluorene composite (called Green B) with several colors of quantum dots to generate the high-color-rendering index (CRI) white LEDs. The Green B polymer is a good candidate to manufacture the hybrid w-LED because of its good quantum efficacy. The hybrid w-LEDs are fabricated by the mixing of Green B with yellow quantum dots and red quantum dots or orange quantum dots to obtain the correlated color temperatures of 3500 and 5500 K. The use of the hybrid polymer/QDs w-LEDs is proved to be beneficial as QD w-LEDs can improve the CRI up to 90 in 3500 K. The luminous efficiency of such devices can be as high as 17.2l m/W.Item type:Item, Fabrication of Flexible White Light-Emitting Diodes from Photoluminescent Polymer Materials with Excellent Color Quality(2017-10-11) ;Lin, Huang-Yu ;Sher, Chin-Wei ;Lin, Chih-Hao ;Tu, Hsien-HaoChen, Xin YinThis study developed flexible light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with warm white and neutral white light. A simple ultraviolet flip-chip sticking process was adopted for the pumping source and combined with polymer and quantum dot (QD) films technology to yield white light. The polymer-blended flexible LEDs exhibited higher luminous efficiency than the QD-blended flexible LEDs. Moreover, the polymer-blended LEDs, achieved excellent color-rendering index (CRI) values (Ra = 96 and R9 = 96), with high reliability, demonstrating high suitability for special applications like accent, down, or retrofit lights in the future. In places such as a museum, kitchen, or surgery room, its high R9 and high CRI characteristics can provide high-quality services.Item type:Item, Improvement of light quality by ZrO2 film of chip on glass structure white LED(2016-01-25) ;Lin, Huang-Yu ;Ye, Zhi-Ting ;Lin, Chien-Chung ;Chen, Kuo-JuTu, Hsien-HaoA novel combination of blue LED chips, transparent glass substrates and phosphors with PDMS thin film is demonstrated. The flip-chip bonding technology is applied to facilitate this design. The ZrO2 nanoparticles are also doped into the PDMS film to increase light scattering. The resultant luminous efficiency shows an 11% enhancement when compared to the regular COG device. The variation of correlated color temperature of such devices is also reduced to 132K. In addition to these changes, the surface temperature is reduced from 121 degrees C to 104 degrees C due to good thermal dissipation brought by ZrO2 nanoparticles. Flip-chip LEDs were attached on a polyimide substrate with copper strips as electrical and thermal conduction paths. Yellow phosphors are mixed with polydimenthysiloxane (PDMS) to provide mechanical support and flexibility. The light efficiency of this device can reach 120 lm/W and 85% of light output uniformity of the emission area can be achieved. Moreover, the optical simulation is employed to evaluate various designs of this flexible film in order to obtain uniform output. Both the pitch between the individual devices and the thickness of the phosphor film are calculated for optimization purpose. This flexible white LED with high lumen efficiency and good reliability is suitable for the large area fixture in the general lighting applications. (C) 2015 Optical Society of AmericaItem type:Item, Square Column Structure of High Efficiency, Reliable, Uniformly Flexible LED Devices(2018-12-01) ;Lin, Chih-Hao ;Pai, Yung-Min ;Kang, Chieh-Yu ;Lin, Huang-YuLee, Chun-FuThis study demonstrates that flexible white LEDs, doped with diffusion particles and with a square column structure, have excellent luminosity, uniformity, and bending reliability. This large area (5 cm x 5 cm) square column flexible device had a smaller thickness (2 mm), and enhancements in both luminous efficiency (29.5%) and uniformity (44.6%) compared to the characteristics of the 6 mm reference sample. Optimization of the reflective layer coating for the square column, flexible white LED was achieved with a higher luminous efficiency (171 lm/w) and uniformity (92%). We designed a novel lightning bolt electrode to improve reliability and bendability. After the bending test, the blue flexible LED had a lower bending diameter (10 mm) but more bending circles (increased to 2000 times.
