Item type:Item, Hybrid 10-Gb/s, 2.5-Gb/s, 64-QAM, and AM-VSB high-capacity wavelength-division-multiplexing transport systems using SMF and LEAF fibers(2002-02-01) ;Lee, CC ;Chen, YK ;Chang, CH ;Feng, KMTzeng, SLA four-wavelength high-capacity hybrid wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) system separately over 100-km standard single-mode fiber and nonzero dispersion-shifted fiber of large effective area fiber is demonstrated. The WDM wavelengths contain one 10-Gb/s signal, one 2.5-Gb/s signal, one 64-quadrature amplitude modulator signal of 110 channels, and one amplitude module with vestigial sideband signal of 80 channels. Satisfaction of a huge variety of receiving requirements and reduction of fiber nonlinearities-induced degradations by controlling channel powers are also considered. Such a hybrid WDM system would be attractive for multiservice trunk applications in advanced transport systems for providing both CATV and telecommunication services.Item type:Item, Reduction of nonlinear distortion in MQW semiconductor optical amplifier using light injection and its application in multichannel M-QAM signal transmission systems(1998-04-01) ;Tai, C ;Tzeng, SL ;Chang, HC ;Way, WI光電工程學系By using an external light-injected multiple-quantum-well (MQW) semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), we have demonstrated a 100-km optical fiber link that transports 77 channels of 63-QAM signals. This is equivalent to a system capacity of 2.3 Gb/s, while using a laser bandwidth of only 550 MHz. Under a requirement of carrier to noise and nonlinear distortion ratio of 30 dB per channel, the 1310-nm gain-peaked SOA input dynamic range was increased from 0 to 9 dB due to an injected light with 8.8 dBm and a wavelength of 1283 nm.
