The solution of the original symmetric connection Hopfield A/D converter sometimes may reach a ''spurious state'' that does not correspond to the correct digital representation of the input signal. An A/D converter based on the model of nonsymmetrical neural networks is proposed to obtain the stable and correct encoding. Due to the infeasible conventional RC-active implementation, a cost-effective switched-capacitor implementation by means of Schmitt triggers is adopted. It is capable of achieving high performance as well as a high convergence rate. Finally, a simulation using a tool called SWITCAP is conducted to verify the validity and performance of the proposed implementation.Item type:Item, ADAPTIVE DECISION-FEEDBACK EQUALIZATION FOR DIGITAL SATELLITE CHANNELS USING MULTILAYER NEURAL NETWORKS(1995-02-01) ;CHANG, PR ;WANG, BC ;交大名義發表 ;電信工程研究所National Chiao Tung UniversityThis paper introduces an adaptive decision feedback equalization using the multilayer perceptron structure of an Mary PSK signal through a TDMA satellite radio channel. The transmission is disturbed not only by intersymbol interference (ISI) and additive white Gaussian noise, but also by the nonlinearity of transmitter amplifiers. The conventional decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is not well-suited to detect the transmitted sequence, whereas the neural-based DFE is able to take into account the nonlinearities and therefore to detect the signal much better. Nevertheless, the applications of the traditional multilayer neural networks have been limited to real-valued signals. To overcome this difficulty, a neural-based DFE is proposed to deal with the complex PSK signal over the complex-valued nonlinear MPSK satellite channel without performing time consuming complex-valued back-propagation training algorithms, while maintaining almost the same computational complexity as the original real-valued training algorithm. Moreover, a modified backpropagation algorithm with better convergence properties is derived on the basis of delta-bar-delta rule. Simulation results for the equalization of QPSK satellite channels show that the neural-based DFE provides a superior bit error rate performance relative to the conventional mean square DFE, especially in poor signal-to-noise ratio conditions.Item type:Item, Adaptive fuzzy power control for mobile radio systems(1995) ;CHANG, PR ;WANG, BC ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringItem type:Item, AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR DESIGN OF MIMO SYSTEM WITH LARGE PLANT UNCERTAINTY(1993-12-01) ;CHIEN, CM ;WANG, BC ;HOROWITZ, IM ;材料科學與工程學系Department of Materials Science and EngineeringThis paper presents an alternative design method for a linear time invariant n x n multiple-input-multiple-output feedback system with plant uncertainty and output feedback. Due to uncertainty, the plant P belongs to a set of P. It is required that for all P is-an-element-of P the n2 system transfer functions be members of specified sets of acceptable outputs. The plant uncertainties are transformed into equivalent external disturbance sets, and the design problem becomes one of external disturbance attenuation. The method has been proven rigorous by means of Schauder's fixed point theorem. This paper concentrates on the practical design procedures and compares the results with those obtained by other techniques.Item type:Item, AN SISO UNCERTAIN SYSTEM DESIGNED BY AN EQUIVALENT DISTURBANCE ATTENUATION METHOD(1990-06-01) ;CHIEN, CM ;WANG, BC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, COMPARISON OF THE WHOLE BENEFITS IN A MIMO CONTROL-SYSTEM WITH LARGE PARAMETER VARIATIONS(1993) ;WANG, BC ;LEE, CK ;交大名義發表National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, DESIGN TECHNIQUE FOR A SISO SYSTEM WITH UNCERTAIN NONMINIMUM-PHASE PLANT(1990-11-01) ;CHIEN, CM ;WANG, BC ;電子物理學系 ;電控工程研究所Department of ElectrophysicsItem type:Item, MATRIX PARTIAL FRACTION EXPANSIONS OF RATIONAL MATRICES(1987-04-01) ;LING, YL ;WANG, BC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, PARTIAL FRACTION EXPANSIONS FOR TRANSFER-MATRICES AND MATRIX-FRACTION DESCRIPTIONS OF MULTIVARIABLE SYSTEMS(1988-10-01) ;LING, YL ;CHANG, FR ;WANG, BC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, QUANTITATIVE SYNTHESIS OF A 5-LOOP PLANT-MODIFICATION CONTROL-SYSTEM(1988-06-01) ;WANG, BC ;HOROWITZ, IM ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, TECHNIQUE OF OPTIMUM DESIGN OF CONTROL-SYSTEMS WITH LARGE PLANT UNCERTAINTY(1991-07-01) ;CHIEN, CM ;WANG, BC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringA modified technique for optimum design with significant plant uncertainty is presented using Wiener's least-square optimization with a quadratic constraint in the frequency domain. The plant uncertainty is transformed into an external disturbance and the procedures of the optimum design problem become much simpler. Examples are used to illustrate the design process. Computer simulations are performed to show that the designed results meet the specifications.
