Item type:Item, 2-WAVELENGTH INTERFEROMETER BASES ON A 2-COLOR LASER-DIODE ARRAY AND THE 2ND-ORDER CORRELATION TECHNIQUE(1995-05-01) ;WANG, CL ;CHUANG, YH ;PAN, CL ;交大名義發表光電工程學系A novel two-wavelength interferometer is demonstrated that uses a tunable two-color laser-diode array as the light source. The synthetic wavelength can be easily tuned from 2 to 0.043 mm by variation of the spectral separation between the two wavelengths of the laser output. By using the second-order correlation technique we can directly retrieve the phase change at the synthetic wavelength with no need for sophisticated electronic signal processing.Item type:Item, DUAL-WAVELENGTH ACTIVELY MODE-LOCKED LASER-DIODE ARRAY WITH AN EXTERNAL GRATING-LOADED CAVITY(1994-09-15) ;WANG, CL ;PAN, CL ;交大名義發表 ;光電工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityWe report the generation of dual-wavelength picosecond pulses by use of a commercial laser-diode array. The laser cavity incorporated a folded dispersive delay line with a V-shaped double-stripe mirror. The spectral separation of the laser output at the two wavelengths can be tuned from 2 to 11 nm. The actively mode-locked pulse widths at the two wavelengths were both 29 ps. Cross-correlation and power-spectrum measurements indicated that the two-color pulses were synchronized with an absolute timing jitter of less than 1 ps (instrument limited).Item type:Item, EFFICIENT BIT-LEVEL SYSTOLIC ARRAY FOR THE LINEAR DISCRIMINANT FUNCTION CLASSIFIER(1987-10-01) ;WANG, CL ;WEI, CH ;CHEN, SH ;傳播研究所電控工程研究所Item type:Item, EFFICIENT BIT-LEVEL SYSTOLIC ARRAY IMPLEMENTATION OF FIR AND IIR DIGITAL-FILTERS(1988-04-01) ;WANG, CL ;WEI, CH ;CHEN, SH ;電控工程研究所電信工程研究所Item type:Item, IMPROVED SYSTOLIC ARRAY FOR LINEAR DISCRIMINANT FUNCTION CLASSIFIER(1986-01-16) ;WANG, CL ;WEI, CH ;CHEN, SH ;傳播研究所電控工程研究所Item type:Item, OPTOELECTRONIC PHASE-TRACKING AND WAVE-FORM DISPLAY OF MICROWAVE SIGNALS UP TO 8 GHZ USING GAIN-SWITCHED LASER-DIODES(1994-05-15) ;WU, HH ;WANG, CL ;LIN, GR ;CHANG, CSPAN, CLWe present a new, more versatile scheme for maintaining phase coherence between optical probe pulses and microwave signals under test in a laser-diode-based optoelectronic sampling system. This approach takes advantage of the relative ease of changing the repetition rate of the gain-switched laser diode (GSLD). The microwave signal to be sampled is used as the clock signal for phase-locking of a voltage controlled-oscillator (VCO) which drives the GSLD. Phase-tracking and display of waveforms at frequencies up to 8 GHz have been realized. It is also shown that lower phase noise sidebands for the phase-locked VCO can be realized by locking the higher harmonics of the laser pulse to the microwave clock.Item type:Item, PULSE BUILDUP DYNAMICS OF AN ACTIVELY MODE-LOCKED LASER-DIODE ARRAY IN THE EXTERNAL-CAVITY(1995-03-01) ;WANG, CL ;KUO, JC ;CHANG, CS ;PAN, CL交大名義發表Dynamic pulse evolution characteristics of an actively mode-locked laser diode array in the external cavity have been investigated, Numerical calculations based on modified traveling-wave rate equations reproduce experimentally observed pulse and spectral width evolution and show that the buildup time is about 45 round-trips, We have also performed a theoretical analysis to understand which of the laser operating parameters would affect the buildup dynamics, It is shown that either higher de bias current or larger radiative recombination coefficient (which is inversely proportional to the excited-state lifetime) will render the laser exhibiting shorter steady-state pulse width and faster evolution to the steady state, Other parameters affecting the buildup, but to a lesser extent, include the radio-frequency (RF) modulation current, spontaneous emission coefficient, and gain coefficient, The power reflectivities of the output mirror and the antireflection coated diode facet, on the other hand, have little effect on the pulse width and buildup time for single pulse generation.Item type:Item, SYSTOLIC ENCODER FOR FAST WAVEFORM VECTOR QUANTIZATION(1985) ;WANG, CL ;WEI, CH ;CHEN, SH ;傳播研究所電控工程研究所Item type:Item, TUNABLE DUAL-WAVELENGTH OPERATION OF A DIODE-ARRAY WITH AN EXTERNAL GRATING-LOADED CAVITY(1994-06-06) ;WANG, CL ;PAN, CL ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsA novel grazing-incidence grating cavity has been developed for simultaneous generation of laser output at two wavelengths. The gain section is a commercial laser diode array. By moving vertically with respect to the optical axis V-shaped double slit at the end mirror, we demonstrate tuning of the spectral separation of the dual-wavelength laser output from 3.52 to 11.29 nm. The side-mode suppression ratio is 10-20 dB. Examination of the far-field patterns reveal that the laser mode at the two wavelengths corresponds to a different order of the array modes.Item type:Item, TUNABLE MULTITERAHERTZ BEAT SIGNAL GENERATION FROM A 2-WAVELENGTH LASER-DIODE ARRAY(1995-06-01) ;WANG, CL ;PAN, CL ;交大名義發表 ;光電工程學系National Chiao Tung UniversityWe report, for the first time to our knowledge, generation of a tunable miltiterahertz modulation signal on an optical carrier directly from a single laser source. The modulation frequency, which can be tuned from 0.15 THz to more than 7 THz, is the beat note obtained by varying the spectral separation between the coaxial two-color output of a two-wavelength laser-diode array from 0.32 to 17 nm. The frequency characteristics of the terahertz beat note are determined with a noncollinear intensity autocorrelator.Item type:Item, TUNABLE PICOSECOND PULSE GENERATION FROM AN ACTIVELY MODE-LOCKED LASER DIODE ARRAY WITH INTRACAVITY CHIRP COMPENSATION(1994-01-01) ;PAN, CL ;WANG, CL ;光電工程研究所Institute of EO EnginerringItem type:Item, TUNABLE PICOSECOND PULSE GENERATION FROM AN ACTIVELY MODE-LOCKED LASER-DIODE ARRAY WITH INTRACAVITY CHIRP COMPENSATION(1994-11-15) ;WANG, CL ;PAN, CL ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsWavelength-tunable picosecond pulses have been generated from an actively mode-locked laser diode array in an external cavity. The cavity incorporated a folded dispersive delay line which provided functions of pulse compression, wavelength tuning and spatial mode control. By varying the group velocity dispersion inside the cavity, the laser pulse width was intra-cavity compressed from 44 to 25 ps. The laser wavelength was tuned from 794 to 806 nm by translating a stripe end mirror horizontally with respect to the optical axis. The side mode suppression ratio was better than 10 dB over the entire tuning range. The spatial mode was a quasi-single-lobe.Item type:Item, USING PROCEDURAL PARAMETERS AND CONTINUATIONS IN COMBINATORIAL SEARCHES(1994-04-01) ;HWANG, WP ;WANG, CL ;資訊工程學系Department of Computer ScienceWe use procedural parameters as a means to cut off unwanted branches in a search tree. The technique may be used to effect non-blind backtracking. A recursive algorithm for generating all strings of n pairs of balanced parentheses is chosen as an illustrative example, since it cannot be formulated by conventional recursive backtracking.
