Item type:Item, OPTIMAL FRAME PATTERN DESIGN FOR A TDMA MOBILE COMMUNICATION-SYSTEM USING A SIMULATED ANNEALING ALGORITHM(1993-05-01) ;CHANG, CJ ;WU, CH ;電信工程研究所 ;電信研究中心Institute of Communications EngineeringDifferent relative Positions of voice and data slots within the frame of a TDMA mobile communication system may result in different system data throughput. The optimal relative position, namely the frame pattern which can achieve maximum data throughput, is designed in this paper. This design method can be formulated as solving a combinatorial optimization problem. Generally, the global optimal solution of such a problem is hard to find using conventional methods, which may be computationally intractable. A reliable and effective method called a simulated annealing algorithm is applied to obtaining the global optimum. Numerical results reveal that there exist various optimal frame patterns for different ranges of traffic load and the optimal frame pattern can achieve great throughput improvement over a random frame pattern.Item type:Item, PATH FEASIBILITY AND MODIFICATION(1992-07-01) ;YOUNG, KY ;WU, CH ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringKinematic feasibility of a planned robot path is restrained by the kinematic constraints of the robot executing the task, such as workspace, configuration, and singularity. Since these kinematic constraints can be described utilizing the geometry of the given robot, corresponding regions within the robot workspace can be expressed in geometrical representation. Consequently, geometric information can be derived from the planned path and the geometric boundaries of these regions. Then, by utilizing the geometric information and proper modification strategies, a Cartesian robot path that is kinematically infeasible can be modified according to different task requirements. To demonstrate the proposed feasibility and modification schemes, simulations for a 6R robot manipulator are executed.Item type:Item, SLOT ALLOCATION FOR AN INTEGRATED VOICE/DATA TDMA MOBILE RADIO SYSTEM WITH A FINITE POPULATION OF BUFFERED USERS(1994-02-01) ;CHANG, CJ ;WU, CH ;電信工程研究所 ;電信研究中心Institute of Communications EngineeringSlot allocation for voice and data in an integrated TDMA mobile radio system is investigated. In the proposed system, voice traffic is circuit-switched and data traffic is packet-switched using slotted ALOHA for channel access; the data traffic model is practically assumed to have a finite number of users with finite buffer capacity. We apply an equilibrium point analysis (EPA) technique to analyze the data performance and present a heuristic performance criterion to obtain an optimal slot allocation for voice and data in the integrated TDMA mobile radio system.
