Item type:Item, A MULTIRATE CONTROLLER-DESIGN OF LINEAR PERIODIC TIME-DELAY SYSTEMS(1992-11-01) ;YEN, NZ ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringThis paper presents a multirate controller design for a linear periodic system with multiple delays at input and output. The approach first converts the periodic time-delay system into a periodic delay-free system, and then stabilizes and optimizes it by a multirate controller with pulse compensation. A significant advantage of this approach is that by using multirate sampling, the controller can provide more substantial design freedoms, so that although the system does not provide complete state information, it remains possible to convert the controller design into the dual of a regular complete state feedback problem. This enables one to derive a simple algorithm for choosing the optimal parameters of the controller and, by use of the optimal pulse compensation, to improve the transient response.Item type:Item, A RIPPLE FREE SAMPLED-DATA ROBUST SERVOMECHANISM CONTROLLER USING EXPONENTIAL HOLD(1994-06-01) ;WU, YC ;YEN, NZ ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringIn a general command tracking and disturbance rejection problem, it is known that a sampled-data controller using zero-order hold may only guarantee the asymptotic tracking at the sampling instances, but cannot smooth out the ripples between the sampling instances. In this paper, a sampled-data robust servomechanism controller using exponential hold is developed for guaranteeing the asymptotic tracking not only at, but also between, the sampling instances In this development, a so called ''internally-reducible'' condition to characterize a class of robust servomechanism controllers is derived first, then the proposed controller is shown to be contained in this class. Generally speaking, a sampled-data structure using exponential hold can provide more design freedoms so that it tends to simplify the construction of a robust servomechanism controller and facilitate the implementation on digital computers. An example for a dc motor control is presented to illustrate the advantages of this approach.Item type:Item, A THEORETICAL-STUDY OF END EFFECTS FOR RECTANGULAR RESONATORS ON NARROW CHANNELS(1992-06-01) ;WU, YC ;交大名義發表 ;土木工程學系 ;National Chiao Tung UniversityDepartment of Civil EngineeringIn order to understand the end effects of rectangular resonators on narrow channels a linearized potential theory has been applied to study the deformation of waves by rectangular resonators in narrow channels, when the width of the channels is less than one half the incident wavelength. The "exact" solution is obtained by matched eigenfunction expansions; the resulting matrix equation is solved numerically. The numerical solution of the boundary integral equation method (BIEM) has also been obtained for comparison. The present two-dimensional mathematical model complements the previous laboratory investigation of James (J. Fluid Mech. 1970, 44, 615-621). The numerical results of the present analytical and numerical models are compared to James' laboratory measurements. Results show that both analytical solutions and BIEM solutions for the fundamental resonance mode are in reasonably good agreement with the laboratory experimental data. Therefore the considerable effect of main channel width on optimum resonator width and resonator length is further confirmed by theoretical analysis. The usual resonance theory, which predicts complete reflection on the incident wave train when the length of the branch canal is one quarter of a wavelength, was found incorrect by James' laboratory study. James' finding is proved theoretically by rigorous analytical and numerical models in the present study. In addition, higher resonance modes of extreme shape as well as intermediate shape rectangular resonators, not discovered in either James' laboratory investigation or his one-dimensional approximate analysis, were also discovered in the present study.Item type:Item, AN OPTIMAL ALGORITHM FOR SAMPLED-DATA ROBUST SERVOMECHANISM CONTROLLER USING EXPONENTIAL HOLD(1994-01-01) ;WU, YC ;YEN, NZ ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringA new structure of sampled-data robust Servomechanism controller using exponential hold is developed. An optimal algorithm is also proposed for choosing the controller parameters of two important special classes. The algorithm is derived by minimizing a square-error performance index, and the solution can be solved from a discrete-time algebraic Riccati equation.Item type:Item, AN OPTIMAL VARIABLE STRUCTURE CONTROL WITH INTEGRAL COMPENSATION FOR ELECTROHYDRAULIC POSITION SERVO CONTROL-SYSTEMS(1992-10-01) ;CHERN, TL ;WU, YC ;交大名義發表 ;電控工程研究所National Chiao Tung UniversityAn approach employing variable structure control with integral compensation is presented for an electrohydraulic position servo control system to achieve accurate servo tracking in the presence of load disturbance and plant parameter variation. Since the dynamic characteristics of such systems are very complex and highly nonlinear, a conventional linear controller design may not assure satisfactory requirements. To improve the dynamic response of such systems, an integral-compensated variable structure control (IVSC) has been proposed. The approach comprises an integral controller for achieving a zero steady-state error response under step input, and a variable structure controller for enhancing the robustness. Simulation results show that the proposed approach gives a rather accurate servo-tracking result and is fairly robust to plant parameter variations and external load disturbance.Item type:Item, DESIGN OF EQUAL EXCURSION SLIDING REGIME(1989-05-01) ;HONG, CM ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, DESIGN OF INTEGRAL VARIABLE STRUCTURE CONTROLLER AND APPLICATION TO ELECTROHYDRAULIC VELOCITY SERVOSYSTEMS(1991-09-01) ;CHERN, TL ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringAn integral variable structure controller (IVSC) for robust servotracking is proposed. It comprises an integral controller, which is designed for achieving zero steady-state error under step input, and a variable structure controller (VSC) which is designed for enhancing robustness. A procedure is developed for determining the coefficients of the switching plane and the integral control gain such that the overall closed-loop system has the desired eigenvalues. Furthermore, a modified proper continuous function is introduced to overcome the chattering problem. An electrohydraulic velocity servocontrol system using the proposed IVSC approach is illustrated. Simulation results show that the proposed IVSC approach can achieve accurate servotracking and is fairly robust to plant parameter variations and external load disturbances.Item type:Item, DESIGN OF SINUSOIDAL OSCILLATORS USING VARIABLE-STRUCTURE THEORY(1990-06-01) ;HONG, CM ;WU, YC ;電子工程學系及電子研究所 ;電控工程研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsItem type:Item, DETERMINISTIC IDENTIFICATION OF LINEAR DYNAMIC-SYSTEMS(1980) ;WU, YC ;REKASIUS, ZV ;電子工程學系及電子研究所Department of Electronics Engineering and Institute of ElectronicsItem type:Item, FORMATION OF A SLIDING REGIME FOR A NON-LINEAR PLANT(1989-11-01) ;HONG, CM ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, FORMATION OF SLIDING REGIME WITH UNCERTAIN PLANT-PARAMETERS(1989-11-01) ;HONG, CM ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, HARMONIC-ANALYSIS OF PWM INVERTER MODULATION STRATEGIES(1988-03-01) ;TZOU, YY ;WU, YC ;交大名義發表 ;電控工程研究所National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, IDENTIFICATION OF MULTI-INPUT MULTI-OUTPUT LINEAR-SYSTEMS FROM FREQUENCY-RESPONSE DATA(1982) ;LIN, PL ;WU, YC ;交大名義發表 ;電控工程研究所National Chiao Tung UniversityItem type:Item, IDENTIFICATION OF NON-LINEAR SYSTEMS FROM STEADY-STATE FREQUENCY-RESPONSE(1983) ;WU, YC ;LIN, PL ;LEE, SC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringItem type:Item, INTEGRAL VARIABLE STRUCTURE CONTROL APPROACH FOR ROBOT MANIPULATORS(1992-03-01) ;CHERN, TL ;WU, YC ;電控工程研究所Institute of Electrical and Control EngineeringAn integral variable structure control (IVSC) approach for robot manipulators is presented to achieve accurate servo-tracking in the presence of load variations, parameter variations and nonlinear dynamic interactions. The proposed algorithm is obtained by minimizing the modified cost function in which the initial guess in the cost function of an ordinary recursive least-squares (RLS) algorithm is replaced by the latest estimate. Analysis of the convergence shows that the proposed algorithm has a better convergence rate than the ordinary RLS algorithm. The extension of the algorithm to the time-varying case has also been considered.
