Item type:Item, A Study on the Usability of Typing Interface on Large-Screen Phones for Different Thumb Sizes(2018-01-01) ;Wang, Ching-yi ;Liu, Peng-Jyun ;應用藝術研究所Institute of Applied ArtsCurrently, the larger-screen phone has gradually replaced the small screen mobile phone that has been unable to meet the needs of long-term reading. However, there is hardly any one-handed use for actually touching the larger-screen, making one-handed operation (using the thumb operation) more difficult; in particular, users with short thumbs may suffer an uncomfortable experience in its use. The participants' typing gestures were then observed when using their phones in a natural manner. Finally, the participants were asked use one thumb with extended, natural and bending gestures, respectively, to slide on a specified typing screen, and the sizes of these three sliding areas, named Stretch, Natural and OW, were measured to find the suitable typing area for different hand sizes. The results of this study found that the typing gestures could be classified into four types: One-Handed (15.6%), Two-Handed (68.8%), Hold & Tap, (6.3%) and Cradle (9.4%). Moreover, the Natural and OW areas for the larger and middle hands were both bigger than the one for the small hand, while there were no significant differences between the larger and middle hands. this indicated that the length of the thumb would affect the usability of the phone. These results can provide a reference for the interface designer.Item type:Item, An event-related potential study of semantic style-match judgments of artistic furniture(2011-11-01) ;Lin, Ming-huang ;Wang, Ching-yi ;Cheng, Shih-kuen ;Cheng, Shih-hung應用藝術研究所This study investigates how semantic networks represent different artistic furniture. Event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded while participants made style-match judgments for table and chair sets. All of the tables were in the Normal style, whereas the chairs were in the Normal, Minimal, ReadyMade, or Deconstruction styles. The Normal and Minimal chairs had the same rates of "match" responses, which were both higher than the rates for the ReadyMade and Deconstruction chairs. Compared with Normal chairs, the ERPs elicited by both ReadyMade chairs and Deconstruction chairs exhibited reliable N400 effects, which suggests that these two design styles were unlike the Normal design style. However. Minimal chairs evoked ERPs that were similar to the ERPs of Normal chairs. Furthermore, the N400 effects elicited by ReadyMade and Deconstruction chairs showed different scalp distributions. These findings reveal that semantic networks represent different design styles for items of the same category. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. The study was conducted in two phases. First, investigated the habits and problems of the use of hangers, as well as the situation of the force when using the hangers. Two new types of hangers were designed based on the survey results. Second, the new type of hangers designed as the stimulus samples were used to investigate the five senses of the user's visual perception and post-use operational feelings. The design of the new-style hangers was adjusted according to the survey results, and a new type of hanger products was proposed. A product is based on user experience and general design principles.Item type:Item, Discuss the Use of Lip Gloss and Design Improvement with Universal Design(2020-01-01) ;Liu, Peng-Jyun ;Wang, Ching-yi ;Hshieh, Yi-Chun ;Ku, Pei-Jung應用藝術研究所This study used a general design approach to explore the use of traditional lip gloss and to improve the design of traditional lip gloss. The study was conducted in three phases. The first phase of the survey was based on the use of traditional lip gloss and the problems in use, and was evaluated using the PPP (Product Performance Program) evaluation method. Two new models of lip gloss were produced based on the results of the first phase survey. In the second phase, two new lip gloss models were used as stimulating samples to investigate the five senses of visual and post-use operations before use. According to the survey results, one of the subjects was satisfied with one lip gloss and the design was adjusted. A new form of lip gloss was proposed for a whole age. After that, the new type of lip gloss was designed in line with the general design principles of the survey. Finally, a new style of lip gloss is proposed as a reference for the makeup market and related companies.
