Item type:Item, A Dielectric Lens Antenna Feeding with Microstrip Patch Antennas for 77GHz Long Range Radar Application(2012) ;Wang, Hsiao-Ning ;Huang, Yen-Tse ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesA dielectric lens antenna feeding with microstrip patch antennas for long range radar application is presented. Using the microstrip patch antenna to feed the lens antenna is easy to implement due to its simple and compact size. Besides, the lens antenna can be easily achieved high gain and low side lobes. To achieve broader field of view for the radar application, two feeding microstrip patch antennas are utilized, and each of which has 10 degree of half-power beamwidth covering field of view of 20 degree. The measurement peak gain, half-power beamwidth, and side-lobe level are 20.2 dBi, 9 degree, and -16 dB, respectively. The measurement results show the input impedance of the proposed lens antenna is well matched to 50 Omega. All the measurement and simulated results are in good agreement.Item type:Item, Compact Multi-Function Antennas Designed Using Filter Synthesis Technique(2012) ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;Wang, Hsiao-Ning ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesIntegration of devices is a trend of modern RF front-end design. To shrink the required area and enhance overall performance, the passive components can be co-designed into an antenna to deliver a so-called multi-function antenna, possessing not only the function of radiation but also filtering, impedance matching, and/or balanced-to-unbalanced transforming. In this paper, we presented the design of such a multi-function antenna based on a typical filter synthesis process. In the approach, the antenna serves as the last-stage resonator and load of a filter, while circuit resonators embedded in the antenna structure behave as the filter's front stages. Without increasing circuit area and sacrificing antenna gain, the accomplished antenna exhibits better band-edge selectivity and flat passband response. Several design examples will be addressed.Item type:Item, High Gain Slot-Pair Substrate-Integrated-Waveguide Antenna for 77 GHz Vehicle Collision Warning Radar(2014-01-01) ;Wang, Hsiao-Ning ;Hu, Huan-Wei ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;傳播研究所Institute of Communication StudiesA 77 GHz high gain slot-pair substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna array has been proposed for automotive radar application. The slot-pair radiation element has been introduced to decrease the guided wavelength, which increases the aperture efficiency. Moreover, the slot-pair element provides the variety to change the antenna performance. Finally, a high gain antenna for forward-looking automotive radar has been fabricated. The measurement gain is 25 dBi and side-lobe level (SLL) is 15 dB, and the aperture efficiency is 62% of the size of 62 mm by 12 mm.Item type:Item, High Gain Slot-Pair Substrate-Integrated-Waveguide Antenna for 77 GHz Vehicle Collision Warning Radar(2014-01-01) ;Wang, Hsiao-Ning ;Hu, Huan-Wei ;Chung, Shyh-Jong ;電信工程研究所Institute of Communications EngineeringA 77 GHz high gain slot-pair substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna array has been proposed for automotive radar application. This paper proposes a one-transmitter-two-receiver (1T2R) 24-GHz frequency-modulation continuous-wave (FMCW) radar architecture with spatial diversity and ground effect compensation for automotive applications. A ray-tracing technique was developed to evaluate the multipath effect of the road surface. In the proposed design, suitable spacing between the two receiving antennas compensated for the multipath effect of the road surface and improved the signal-to-ground clutter ratio of the receivers by a minimum of 20 dB at certain distances. The measurement and calculation results of the proposed radar are in close agreement.
