Item type:Item, Evaluating and comparing the university performance in knowledge utilization for patented inventions(2015-02-01) ;Hung, Wen-Chi ;Ding, Cherng G. ;Wang, Hung-Jui ;Lee, Meng-CheLin, Chieh-PengAlthough universities have played an important role in knowledge creation, it is also of concern to see how universities perform in knowledge utilization. In the present article, an effective approach is proposed to evaluate and compare university performance in knowledge utilization for patented inventions. Growth trajectories of the cumulative patent citations to scientific publications produced by individual universities are analyzed by using latent growth modeling. Moreover, we examine how the utilization of scientific knowledge created in 1995 and 2005 is affected by research impact and university-industry collaboration among the universities in Europe, North America, and East Asia. The results indicate that not all top 300 research universities in the world perform well in knowledge utilization for patented inventions. Some policy implications are discussed.Item type:Item, Exploring paper characteristics that facilitate the knowledge flow from science to technology(2017-02) ;Ding, Cherng G. ;Hung, Wen-Chi ;Lee, Meng-Che ;Wang, Hung-Jui經營管理研究所In this study, we explore paper characteristics that facilitate the knowledge flow from science to technology by using the patent-to-paper citation data. The linear growth trajectory of the number of patent citations to a scientific paper over time is used to measure the dynamism of its utilization for technology applications. The citation data used were obtained from the USPTO database based on two 5-year citation windows, 2001-2005 and 2009-2013. The former included patent citations to the publications in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science in 1998, and the latter included those in 2006. Only the publications in the top ten most frequently cited subject categories in the Web of Science were selected. By using growth modeling, we have found that the mean slope of the trajectory is significant. Moreover, the paper citation count, the ranking factor of the journal in which the paper was published, whether the paper is an industrial publication, and whether it is a review article have been identified to exert significant effects on the growth of the citation of scientific literature by patented inventions. Some policy implications are discussed. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. The turnover rates of trading shares, trading value, and transactions, three market measures of trading activity, have been demonstrated to meet the psychometric criteria for measuring the IS trend. The ratio of market price to book value and the short-selling turnover ratio are inappropriate proxies. The empirical results indicate that the influence of the IS trend on returns depends on the direction of the trend (optimistic or pessimistic) and stock characteristics of individual holdings and on arbitrage constraint. The effectiveness of arbitrage, sentiment-driven mispricing, and market intervention are discussed.Item type:Item, Provable Secure AKA Scheme with Reliable Key Delegation in UNITS(2009) ;Huang, Yu-Lun ;Shen, C. Y. ;Shieh, Shiuhpyng ;Wang, Hung-JuiLin, Cheng-ChunThe Authentication Key Agreement Scheme (AKA) of Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UNITS) provides substantial enhancement to solve the vulnerabilities in GSM and other wireless communication systems. However, we discovered four security weaknesses of UNITS AKA, that is, redirection attack, man-in-the-middle attack, sequence number depletion, and roaming attack. An adversary can launch these attacks to eavesdrop, or cause billing problems. To cope with these problems, a new Secure Authentication Key Agreement Protocol (S-AKA) is proposed in this paper to enhance the security to resist the attacks. To improve the efficiency and redundancy of UNITS AKA, S-AKA reduces both the authentication messages and bandwidth consumption of UNITS AKA. The formal proof of S-AKA is also given to ensure the security strength of S-AKA.
