Item type:Item, High-power 10-GHz self-mode-locked Nd:LuVO(4) laser(2011-10-01) ;Huang, Y. J. ;Liang, H. C. ;Chen, Y. F. ;Zhang, H. J.Wang, J. Y.We report on a high-power diode-end-pumped self-mode-locked Nd:LuVO(4) laser with the pulse repetition rate up to 9.52 GHz for the first time. The large third-order nonlinearity of the Nd:LuVO(4) crystal is exploited to efficiently achieve a fairly stable self-mode-locked operation without any additional components. The detailed characteristics of the compact efficient self-mode-locked laser are experimentally investigated and theoretically analyzed. With the incident pump power of 2.6 W, the average output power up to 0.54 W is generated with the pulse width of 7.9 ps at the pulse repetition rate of 9.52 GHz.Item type:Item, High-power 10-GHz self-mode-locked Nd:LuVO4 laser(2011-10-01) ;Huang, Y. C. ;Huang, J. Y. ;Su, K. W. ;Lai, H. C.Chen, Y. F.A diode-pumped Yb:YCOB laser at 1086 nm is passively Q switched by using InGaAs quantum wells as saturable absorbers and utilizing the Bragg mirror structure as an output coupler. With an absorbed pump power of 9.2 W the laser produces pulses of 100 ms duration with average pulse energy of as much as 165 mu J at a pulse repetition rate of 7 kHz. W. ;應用化學系Department of Applied ChemistryThe paper reports the techniques that we have devised for immobilizing and allocating a single nanodiamond on the electron beam (E-beam) patterned smart substrate. The properly designed coordination markers on the semiconductor substrate and the high throughput of the confocal microscope provide us with a convenient tool to single out a nanodiamond with a size less than 100 nm and to study its optical properties on a single nanostructure basis. We have observed a broad PL emission centered at about 700 nm from a single nanodiamond which is due to the defects, vacancies in the nanodiamonds or the disordered carbon layer covered on the nanodiamond surface. We also observe red-shift in energy and asymmetrical broadening In linewidth of the sp(3) bonding Raman peak when the size of the single nanodiamond is decreased.Item type:Item, Photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy of single diamond nanoparticle(2008-01-01) ;Sun, K. W. ;Wang, J. Y. ;Ko, T. Y. ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班The article reports techniques that we have devised for immobilizing and allocating a single nanodiamond on the electron beam (E-beam) lithography patterned semiconductor substrate. By combining the E-beam patterned smart substrate with the high throughput of a confocal microscope, we are able to overcome the limitation of the spatial resolution of optical techniques (similar to 1 mu m) to obtain the data on individual nano-object with a size range between 100 and 35 nm. We have observed a broad photoluminescence centered at about 700 nm from a single nanodiamond which is due to the defects, vacancies in the nanodiamonds, and the disordered carbon layer covered on the nanodiamond surface. We also observe red-shift in energy and broadening in linewidth of the sp(3) bonding Raman peak when the size of the single nanodiamond is reduced due to the phonon-confinement effects.Item type:Item, Raman spectroscopy of single nanodiamond: Phonon-confinement effects(2008-04-14) ;Sun, K. W. ;Wang, J. Y. ;Ko, T. Y. ;應用化學系應用化學系分子科學碩博班In this paper, we devise techniques for immobilizing and allocating a single nanodiamond on the electron beam (e-beam) patterned smart substrate. The properly designed coordination markers on the semiconductor substrate and the high throughput of the confocal microscope provide us with a convenient tool to single out a nanodiamond with a size less than 100 nm and to study Raman spectroscopy. We observe a redshift in energy and broadening in the linewidth of the sp(3) bonding Raman peak when the size of the diamond is decreased from 90 to 35 nm. The observed shifts and linewidth broadening arise from the phonon-confinement effects and are in good agreement with calculations reported by [Ager Phys. Rev. B 43, 6491 (1991)] and [Yoshikawa Appl. Phys. Lett. 62, 3114 (1993)]. (C) 2008 American Institute of Physics.Item type:Item, Short-term Travel Time Estimation and Prediction for Long Freeway Corridor using NN and regression(2012) ;Wang, J. Y. ;Wong, K. I. ;Chen, Y. Y. ;運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所Department of Transportation and Logistics ManagementTravel time information is a fundamental component in Advanced Traveler Information System. In this paper, we propose a short-term travel time estimation and prediction framework for long freeway corridor, considering measurements from vehicle detectors (VD) and floating car data (FCD). The modeling approach is based on a modified Nearest-Neighborhood (NN) model with threshold and a regression model capturing the within day variations. The advantages are that our approach allows for missing data without the need of data imputation in real-time, and is suitable for travel time prediction of long corridors. The validation analysis using an 88 km long section of freeway shows satisfactory results.Item type:Item, Spontaneous subpicosecond pulse formation with pulse repetition rate of 80 GHz in a diode-pumped Nd:SrGdGa3O7 disordered crystal laser(2012-02-15) ;Chen, Y. F. ;Liang, H. C. ;Tung, J. C. ;Su, K. W.Zhang, Y. Y.We explore the operation of spontaneous mode locking in a diode-pumped Nd:SrGdGa3O7 disordered crystal laser. The first- and second-order autocorrelations are simultaneously performed to evaluate the temporal characteristics. An 80 GHz pulse train with a pulse duration as short as 616 fs is observed. The maximum output power is 415 mW at a pump power of 6.1 W. L. ;Lee, C. Y. ;Cho, H. H. ;Huang, Y. J.Chen, Y. F.A harmonically self-mode-locked Nd:Sr3Y2(BO3)(4) disordered crystal laser with subpicosecond pulse duration is demonstrated. We exploit the damped harmonic oscillator model to numerically verify that the mode spacing of the laser cavity can be modified to be the harmonics of the free spectral range of the Fabry-Perot cavity when the optical length of the laser cavity is close to a commensurate ratio of the optical length of the FabryPerot cavity. In experiment, the Fabry-Perot cavity can be formed by the pump facet of the disordered crystal and the front mirror. A 110 GHz single-pulse harmonically mode-locked pulse train with pulse duration of 857 fs is experimentally achieved under optical lengths of 27.19 and 4.08 mm for the laser cavity and Fabry-Perot cavity respectively, corresponding to a fractional number of 20/3. A maximum output power of 162 mW is obtained at an incident pump power of 3.1 W. (C)2016 Optical Society of America
