Item type:Item, 10 GHz Bound Soliton Mode-locking in an Environmentally Stable FM Mode-locked Er-doped Fiber Soliton Laser(2014) ;Luo, Cheng-Jhih ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Lai, Yinchieh ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsWe experimentally demonstrate an environmentally stable 10 GHz FM mode-locked Er-doped fiber soliton laser that can produce stable bound solitons even when there is no equivalent fast saturable absorption mechanism inside the cavity.Item type:Item, 300 GHz Bound Pulse Generation in a Filter-Assisted Harmonic Mode-Locked Er-doped Fiber Laser with 20 GHz Phase Modulation(2014) ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Jyu, Siao-Shan ;Lai, Yinchieh ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsBy inserting a section of PM fiber for birefringence interference filtering with 100 GHz spacing, stable 300 GHz bound pulses have been successfully generated in a harmonic mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser with 20 GHz phase modulation frequency.Item type:Item, Asynchronous Harmonic Mode Locking in an All-Normal Dispersion Yb-Doped Fiber Laser(2013-02-01) ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Jyu, Siao-Shan ;Hsiang, Wei-Wei ;Lai, Yinchieh光電工程學系We present detailed experimental and theoretical results to demonstrate the possibility of asynchronous harmonic mode locking in an all-normal dispersion fiber laser. In contrast to asynchronous soliton mode-locking operation in the anomalous dispersion regime, more profound laser dynamics are found. The experimentally demonstrated 10-GHz asynchronous harmonic mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser exhibits an excellent super-mode noise suppression ratio in the RF spectrum with picosecond output pulsewidth.Item type:Item, Bound Soliton Fiber Laser Mode-Locking Without Saturable Absorption Effect(2016-08-01) ;Luo, Cheng-Jhih ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Lai, Yinchieh ;光電工程學系光電工程研究所Stable bound soliton laser mode-locking is experimentally demonstrated in an environmentally stable hybrid mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser without incorporating (equivalent) nonlinear saturable absorption effects. The laser has a sigma-type cavity and exhibits a higher threshold for single to bound soliton mode-locking state transition. A nonlinear eigenstate analysis based on the master equation model and the concept of steady-state lasing gain is developed to more physically explain the observed mode-locking state transition phenomena.Item type:Item, Characteristics of a 40 GHz asynchronous harmonic mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser(2017-01-01) ;Wen, Chih-Chieh ;Luo, Cheng-Jhih ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Lai, Yinchieh光電工程學系A 40 GHz asynchronous harmonic mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser is demonstrated for the first time. Long-term stability is achieved through low-frequency electronic feedback and the impact of modulation depth on allowable detuning range is investigated.Item type:Item, Generation of 100 GHz Pulse Train from a Phase Modulated Hybrid Mode-Locked Er-Fiber Laser with an Intra-Cavity Etalon(2016) ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Lai, Yinchieh ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsWe demonstrate a 100 GHz hybrid mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser with the assistance of a high finesse etalon and phase modulation. Characteristics of the ultrahigh-repetition-rate laser under both passive and hybrid mode-locking operation are compared.Item type:Item, HEAD MOTION RECOGNITION USING A SMART HELMET FOR MOTORCYCLE RIDERS(2019-01-01) ;Wong, K. I. ;Chen, Yi-Chung ;Lee, Tzu-Chang ;Wang, Sheng-Min運輸與物流管理系 註:原交通所+運管所This paper presents a head motion detection and recognition study using a smart helmet for motorcycle rider which can potential be used for the analysis of behavior of motorcycle riders. The smart helmet is a full face motorcycle helmet integrated with an intelligent system embedded an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor. In the analysis, the motions and the corresponding signals are assessed with the video footage with a data acquisition and visualization platform. We introduce a feature extraction methodology to extract the most discriminant features from the signal data, and the head motion recognition problem is formulated as a machine-learning based classification model. Experiment results show that gyroscope sensor data is more useful than accelerometer sensor data for head motion recognition and the classification accuracy for different head motions ranges from 95.9% to 99.1%.Item type:Item, Laser Dynamics of Asynchronous Mode-locked Fiber Lasers(2013) ;Lai, Yinchieh ;Jyu, Siao-Shan ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;交大名義發表光電工程學系New laser dynamics of asynchronous mode-locked fiber lasers will be reviewed in details, with the emphases on the interesting repetition frequency pulling effect and the all-normal dispersion operation state of asynchronous mode-locking.Item type:Item, Up to 400 GHz burst-mode pulse generation from a hybrid harmonic mode-locked Er-doped fibre laser(2017-02) ;Wang, Sheng-Min ;Lai, Yinchieh ;光電工程學系Department of PhotonicsBy inserting a birefringence filter with FSR = 100 GHz inside a hybrid mode-locked Er-doped fibre laser, we successfully generate ps to sub-ps optical burst pulses with the intra-burst pulse rate up to 400 GHz. Multiplication of the intra-burst pulse rate is attributed to a new effect analogous to rational harmonic mode-locking, which occurs due to the relative alignment of the cavity harmonic frequencies, the external phase modulation induced frequencies, and the filter-selected frequencies.
