Item type:Item, A novel efficient approach for DFMEA combining 2-tuple and the OWA operator(2010-03-15) ;Chang, Kuei-Hu ;Wen, Ta-Chun ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementDesign Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) is the application of the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method specifically to product design. DFMEA is not only an important risk assessment technique but also a major task for enterprises in implementing production management. The purpose is to ensure that the product can achieve its designed functions under specific operating conditions. Most current DFMEA methods use the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value to evaluate the risk of failure. However, conventional RPN methodology has the serious problem of measurement scales and loses some valued information, which experts have to provide. In order to improve the method of RPN evaluation, this paper proposes a novel technique, combining 2-tuple and the Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operator for prioritization of failures in a product DFMEA. A case of the Color Super Twisted Nematic (CSTN) that has been drawn from a midsized manufacturing factory is presented to further illustrate the proposed approach. After comparing the result that was obtained from the proposed method with the other two listed approaches, it was found that the proposed approach can effectively solve the problem of measurement scales and has not lost any expert to provide the useful information. As a result, stability of the product and process can be assured. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Traditionally, process FMEA uses the risk priority number (RPN) to evaluate the risk of failure. However, the RPN method has several main shortcomings. In order to improve the method of RPN evaluation, this paper proposes an innovative approach, integrating 2-tuple and the linguistic ordered weighted geometric averaging (LOWGA) operator in process FMEA. The main purpose of this study is to effectively resolve the main shortcomings of RPN evaluation to assure product and process robustness. In numerical verification, process FMEA of the color super-twisted nematic (CSTN) product is presented to further illustrate the proposed approach. After comparing the result that was obtained from the proposed method with both the traditional RPN method and the LOWGA method, it was found that the proposed approach provided a more accurate and reasonable ranking of the risk of failure. Moreover, the proposed method does not lose the useful information provided by the experts.Item type:Item, Cost-Benefit Analysis of RFID Application in Apparel Retailing for SME: A Case from Taiwan(2010-06-01) ;Wen, Ta-Chun ;Chang, Yung-Chia ;Chang, Kuei-Hu ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementItem type:Item, Soft failure mode and effects analysis using the OWG operator and hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets(2018-01-01) ;Chang, Kuei-Hu ;Wen, Ta-Chun ;Chung, Hsiang-Yu ;工業工程與管理學系Department of Industrial Engineering and ManagementRisk assessment is a critical part of reliability engineering and is vital to the success of an enterprise's performance. Traditionally, risk assessment has used the risk priority number (RPN) to evaluate the risk of failure. Unfortunately, the traditional RPN method has several shortcomings-it loses partially valuable information when some data are missing or nonexistent and does not consider the ordered weight between the severity, occurrence, and detection indicators; further, it does not consider the direct and indirect relationships between failure modes and causes of failure, and it has a high duplication rate. To resolve these issues, this paper integrates the ordered weighted geometric (OWG) operator and hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets to increase the effectiveness of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), named soft FMEA. An empirical case of extreme low-k (ELK) dielectric integration is used to illustrate the proposed method and demonstrate its value. Our results show that the soft FMEA method is applicable to real-world situations and constitutes a more general FMEA method.
